YA...no. Flintlocks? Are we going to mix up our own black-powder and cast our own bullets too? And what is a Contendor? Is that another muzzleloader? Methinks you have a primitive gun fetish.

Noob Question about Saving game from a NewBie :)
taco241 replied to nikhilkdipsar's topic in New Player Discussion
use DayZ commander.not only is it easy to manage your updates,it has a good, intuitive interface. It will show you which servers are private in the server list. The ones with a cloud icon crossed out are private (They're not connected to the main, public hive). -
Are the drivers AI or human players?
-
Not sure it there's a connection but seems all the FPS issue threads are started by people with Nvidia cards. It might be an inherent design feature causing issues. Can't really answer it.

I've been playing since early June 2012 but have neverfound one.

The Zeppelins idea is way out there. The others have been suggested before. Don't worry the SA will have many new features at release and more implemented later.
-
I say use it to add a bandit shemagh. Or for decorating trees.

I've learned something. Thanks Jimmy.

Don't worry guys. Those 12 year olds will eventually get bored and move on to grief another game. Like Kerbal Space Program

Replace zombies/infected with something else?
taco241 replied to timboski's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
There's NOTHING in this world that can't be improved with the addition of pirates, ninjas or clowns (zombies are a close 4th). Any of those will do. ...or Mr.Bean -
We should start giving patches ice-cream flavour names (like Android OS). 1.7.6.1 Could be DayZ Butterscotch What will the next flavour be?
-
Dunno about your idea, but I have this counter-point to make: Your avatar, from a distance, looks like you're putting a handgun to your temple.
-
You're trippin' man.

A compound bow is overused in games. The learning curve for most would be too much to get any accuracy with one anyway. So I wouldn't miss the omission of this weapon from the game. IT'd be completely unrealistic in a fight against a moving human target anyway. Keep the crossbow though.

Standalone - Taking Prisoners/Restraints
taco241 replied to djzombie's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Ya a suicide option would be a must. I can see people getting cuffed or head-bagged and dumped somewhere with no way to get free. Thea bag over the head would be especially shity. -
Wow. This same exact thing played out for me. I stole a chopper while the admin and gang were partying in some ruins nearby. Vendetta Gamin Clan's server.

Yeah this post is nonsense. I don't know where to begin my retort, so I wont.

Crooked Admins!?!? Say it aint so...
taco241 replied to campaign_junkie's topic in New Player Discussion
I play on British Sergeant's Mess, http://www.britishsergeantsmess.com/index.php/servers and Balota Buddies, http://balotabuddies.net/ Both whitelisted. Both very good gaming experiences imo. I'm not admin or friends with anyone on either. Just a good old fashioned recommendation. -
WHAT DA F...!?!? HACKER? CHEATER?
taco241 replied to timedance's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I was in the northern woods (north of NW airfield) and saw a man running at me. I put a whole magazine into him. He just slowly ran by me, and kept running in a straight line. He was sprinting, but the speed was only about half of my full sprint...and nothing would kill him. He just ran in a straight line through the wilderness, slowly. Must have been a glitched model (kind of like when someone logs out and leaves a body standing?). -

Never heard of this issue. any chance your monitor is on the fritz? -
My eyes burn! Oww how they burn! ...Sorry. Your spelling really needs help. And you did more than just take cars and some loot to get global banned. You'll have to re-purchase the game, and this time, stop cheating forfuckssake.

Just as long as those first 10 people are not idiot hackers themselves.Careful who you allow to admin. -
Hi all, In case anyone's interested, I did some testing to find out what sort of bandwidth DayZ uses. This is by no means a comprehensive analysis. Just some numbers in case you're interested. I ran each test for about 15 to 20 minutes, disconnected, and ran it again. I only started recording rates once my character has fully spawned in. Panthera 1.8, nighttime, 2 players - Avg download: 76 kbps, Avg upload: 216 Kbps Panthera 1.8, nighttime, 2 players - Avg download: 69.4 kbps, Avg upload: 420 Kbps Panthera 1.8, nighttime, 2 players - Avg download: 72.5 kbps, Avg upload: 383 Kbps Panthera 1.8, daytime, 13 players - Avg download: 96.3 kbps, Avg upload: 228.0 Kbps Taviana 2.0, daytime, 8 players - Avg download: 72.5 kbps, Avg upload: 77.4.0 Kbps Vanilla mod 1.7.6.6, daytime, 23 players - Avg download: 120 kbps, Avg upload: 86 Kbps Vanilla mod 1.7.6.6, daytime, 8 players - Avg download: 101 kbps, Avg upload: 322 Kbps So in about 2 hours of playing, I had an average Down of 87Kb/sec. and Up of 247 KB/sec That equals 306 Megabytes per hour Down and 868 Megabytes Up. (1.14GB total) For those with bandwidth caps, this might help explain your increased bill each month. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just for fun, I cranked up a couple of games to compare: Chivalry: medieval warfare - Download: 42Kbps. Upload: 36Kbps Counter Strike (arms race mode) - Download: 170 Kbps. Upload 60Kbps. I run a stock i5 2500K CPU, 4GB RAM, stock Radeon HD 6850 and get a typical framerate of 40-60 FPS on "very high" settings. Please share your stats. I'd like to know what other games stack up.

The next patch will hopefully allow us to crawl inside the body cavity of cows. Here's hoping anyway. Until then, spoon a friend.
