What mod are you playing? Is it Origins by any chance? I had the same issue. I think it's because Arma 2 had a recent update but the Origins servers are no longer getting updated. I think that mod was officially discontinued a couple of weeks ago. Anyway. Likely the server you are connecting to is out of date. You can try rolling back your Arma 2 patch. This is easy if you play using DayZ Commander.

No, unfortunately this computer was not designed for gaming, General home and office use is about all it will handle. You'll have a terrible time playing most modern games.

Seems like a new GPU in an old system. It's like stuffing a new 500HP big block crate engine in your mom's Kia Rio. The cheap fix: -Wipe your computer, and install only the essential drivers and updates. Disable any scans, auto-updates, etc. - Upgrade to 8GB RAM ($80) - Add another case fan ($10) and try and squeeze a little more juice out of your CPU by overclocking (do not get greedy) The budget fix (this will keep you gaming for likely about 2 years): You'll need to swap out your motherboard ($60) Get more RAM (at least 8 GB( ($80) New Intel Quad-core CPU ($215) Hope this helps. Try the cheap fix, and then work your way up.

I'm OK with them not respawning. A random scattering of goats, cows, deer, and rabbits that would respawn at server start should be fine.

Drinking bad milk? I think you need to try sniffing some before you suggest it. No survivor would be desperate enough to drink it. Rat traps as noisemakers seem a bit of a cumbersome solution. Rat poison seems like a highly abusable, gets-old-quickly like the disinfectant spray. it just doesn't feel like a survivor simulator when your character prioritizes a box of poison in his bag for griefing. PS. What's with women in your life that they enjoy rat poison? More clothes are always nice for variety though.

Might be an issue related to your combination of router and whatever Dayz is passing through it (not a tech obviously). I had a wireless USB adapter that would knock out my connection for 5 minutes if I had steam downloads going over 5 MB/sec. Tried variety of things but ended up just replacing with a newer adapter and all is good.

I too would be interested in seeing this but it's likely not in the interest of developers to reveal that info.

No matter what happens to loot tables, the first thing that needs to be addressed is the server hopping. No amount of rarity will keep groups those groups from looting server after server, then hitting the populated ones all looking alike in gas masks, all-camoed-up, with their m4s and assloads of mags, shouting in their best badass voices into their mike for you to get down or your fucking dead. You know how it goes. I'm not sure why I'm writing this. The point's been made countless times. Anyhoo....

To anyone who's not a DayZ player, survival geek or the watcher of that youtube concrete+can video, this isn't an obvious solution to opening a can. You have lots of options in game currently that are far more intuitive than the concrete rub. Use your axe. You can pretend it's using concrete. You'll even spill some food to complete the simulation. There are many solutions to this problem in RL but let's be practical people.Obscure tips are better left out of the game.

I haven't seen daytime yet. Crazy. I've only ever played SA in the dark but I love it.

While this is explained in numerous videos, forums, wiki, etc, I agree there should definitely be a new player user guide listing common actions, keyboard commands to start players off. I'm a veteran DayZer but this has been a shortcoming since the beginning. Please BI, post some "getting started" guides so we can eliminate so many needless threads.

It's just a different kind of game than your standard twichy FPS. You can be very good at it as-is. Just accept that this is a different animal.

Has he formatted the SSD and given it a drive letter? If it's a new drive, you'll likely need to do this first. Try right clicking "My computer" and then click "manage", then select "disk management" in the left side of the window. Your SSD should show up there if connected. You can initialize the drive from there. GL.

I think adding RAM and a GPU would not be enough for DayZ. The Athlon II X4 CPU was one of the first true 4-core cpus from AMD, released in 2009. Not exactly a powerhouse CPU. Although it could still pull off many games on low settings, ARMA/DayZ are very demanding titles. You can do 1 of two things: 1. Buy a decent video card (and likely a new power supply) and give it a shot...You can get a decent card under $100 if you really look around and maybe even try ebay for a used one in good condition, a 500watt PSU should cost you $40-$50. 2. The more likely option: replace the CPU/ Motherboard/Ram/Power supply and get a new video card as stated above. Likely around $400 at minimum. Sadly the only thing you could keep from this system is the case and the DVD drive. Hope this helps

Just do what fluxley said and use Commander for all your updates^ 'ts all you need.

Be sure you get yourself a 7.1 soundcard. It's all you need and it'll make a world of difference over your onboard audio. $30 should get you a basic 7.1 card like the Soundblaster Audigy.

Is it a wireless mouse/keyboard? Try different USB ports and see what happens. If it's a recent purchase, just take it back and exchangeit.

Isn't this a notebook computer? It's sadly inadequate to do much on.You will need an entirely new system. CPU, motherboard, Video Card. You can get a good entry level rig for around $500 US, if you're willing to build and hunt for bargains. Good luck
