Interesting idea, however to code intelligent AI is difficult in the ARMA 2 engine. However, having NPC's would just be more cannon fodder. I don't see how they'd be help, besides being traveling spawnzones for loot. That being said, I wouldn't mind heavily armed military convoys, perhaps with APCs and lots of infantry, defending a ural with a shit ton of military grade weapons, food, etc. Attacking it would be very difficult, however it would be super tense to suddenly have to hide from the convoy if you are in the way.

Please don't post laundry list of things you want. I think it's fine the way it is. New players have a learning curve. North is dangerous. But south is a bit safer, now that everyone isn't armed.. as much.

Interesting, however it would be nicer if skills were something not found, as in "packs". Like, being able to read stars, maps, etc. Having a "class" would be interesting to look into, but perhaps later down the line in development. -
It would be nicer than standard om nom nom sounds ;P Plus you'd be able to tell if someone opens your bag. Very simple idea, but brilliant.

Both have been suggested, but chainsaw has a really limited use. Yes, very gory, but not really practical weapon. Molotovs are in the works.. ;)

That's why I said "Special Infected" like the ones you see in Left 4 Dead. As in, exploding zombies, zombies that can grab you with a long tongue, etc. But when you are mowing down zombies in the hundreds, are slight variations to them going to really stick out?

Oh look, THIS thread again. DayZ is about survival. If you are not careful, you will not survive. Neither will your friends. If you treat DayZ as a "test" of your character, rather than a game, you will be better off. If your friend dies, you will feel horror. You lost your companion. You are now alone, against the gunman. This game is not about killing others. It is about survival. And sometimes, people will kill you in order to survive. It happens. Also, on a relevant note, there is no "endgame" other than taking one of the 3847956 guns you have stored in a tent city, going to a populated server, and gunning people down. This will all be changed soon.

Said by rocket himself at Rezzed, "special infected" like the ones you see in Left 4 Dead (spitting zombies, zombies that explode, etc) aren't in the scope of the project, as it doesn't feel "authentic"

Honestly, If you are killed, that is a learning experience. When you die, there is someone behind that bullet. The person behind that bullet needs one of two things. Your gear, or Kills. The "Endgame", as of right now, is to use one of your 8972465 weapons you have stashed, and go to cherno/electro and fuck people up. Because that's fun! That's what happens. As a new player, you will not be coddled. This is not a game. This is a test. Survive. -
15 round slug = Winchester 12 round slug/pellet = M1014/Remmington 2 round slug/pellet = Double barrel shotgun.

Most assault rifles have 1 tracer every 4-5 rounds. In LMG's you will see it much more often. They are in, I've seen them.

Different spin on weapon maintenance

I think it should be much less than Far Cry 2. For those who didn't play, if you had a weapon that's particular to jamming (a simple dart gun, an M16, etc), after about half your ammo supply, it starts to jam. That's about 150 rounds for the m16 iirc, and like 9-10 shots with the dart gun. So, perhaps after a few hundred rounds, you start to get problems. Maybe have it take about a minute or two to clean/maintain it? -

Regular Mil-spec weapons slightly less common they are now, but super-awesome weapons, like LMGs, MMGs, .50 cal sniper rifles, Spec Ops Weapons, be much more rare then they are now.

I would be okay with removing all/most military gear, and making it spawn super rarely. More civilian-grade weapons, and in military zones, more "Common" military weapons, such as regular M16's, AK74s, etc. M4A1s, LMGs, Snipers much more rare then they are now.
