SurviveDayZ Mod - More Difficult & Extensive DayZ | v1.2
ALiborio replied to ryahn's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
On the topic of loot. During my couple hours of playing yesterday: Loot was a bit more scarce than usual. Started in Kamenka so not much loot there normally. Went through a bunch of the industrial buildings and they had a few vehicle parts and that was about it. Seems normal, anything else was probably taken by another player. Balota airfield was pretty scarce as well, only found an assault pack in the tower, hangers were empty. Military camp near Balota was decent, found an AK and some random ammo for various guns. Cherno supermarket was bare besides a body in the back room. Firestation was also empty. Pubs mostly had loot. Hospitals didn't have medical box out back (may be intended as there was boxes inside) Military tents, one had loot and the other didn't have anything. Apartments small one near hospital had loot. Three large ones had absolutely nothing. Other small one had just a tent. I do like the slightly harder difficulty. Having to find my first backpack made it a bit more rewarding. More zombies around made me more cautious when going into town (playing like I did when I first played). Knowing that I have much less chance of being sniped in Cherno while trying to gear up was nice, could focus on watching my surroundings for zombies and other people instead of just running cause stopping anywhere was instant death. Night was real dark, but giving a player blue chemlights isn't bad as they have a pretty short visible range from what I could see. Didn't get to play around with many of the other features like vehicles loaded into other vehicles which sounds pretty cool. EDIT: Forgot about the new skins. Found a suit which made my character look pretty damn sharp. Also the fact that ghillies and camo aren't really residential spawns anymore make more sense. Most people wouldn't have such clothing in their homes but suits and other clothes would be there. -
Spawning after death on Fallujah

Yeah just happened to me. And now a zombie is munching on me. Great way to start a new life... -
NEW DayZ Fallujah Map Released!
ALiborio replied to avid_gamer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Originally I was checking each building cause they were new building types so I thought they may have loot. Once I figured out that there was only one type that I could find some basic loot (ammo, food, coke) in I only went in them when I could use some of that stuff. But I found 2 schools next to each other and 2 hospitals. Schools had 0 loot, not even tin cans. Hospitals there were well stocked but I ran into a couple others that had 0 loot. Apartments were decent and most markets were obviously decent. The big thing that put me off was making the trek to the airport where there was a bunch of hangars, ATC tower, fire station and like 20 barracks which all had 0 loot. The fact that the airport is miles outside of the main city made it a huge waste of time. My first spawn I did spawn near a military camp with the 4 deerstands (like they have near Balota) and I tried to get some loot from ti but got mauled by zombies as I had no weapon. Couldn't find where that was again once I had some gear. I could deal with the lack of loot if the buildings that usually have loot mostly had the loot they're supposed to. But as others have said the zombie spawns were kind of messed up as well. I think they are related since if there were no zombies spawned I usually found 0 loot in the nearby buildings. -
NEW DayZ Fallujah Map Released!
ALiborio replied to avid_gamer's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
yea it needs work. I thought great, no running through forests there will be buildings everywhere, but I just ran through forests of buildings that mostly had no loot. I recognized one new building type that sometimes had loot. Also noticed that if there were no zombies around you definitely weren't finding much any loot in the nearby buildings. I played about 3 hours. Found a makarov within an hour. Found a double barrel within 2 hours. Found nothing else of value (except map/compass) in the full 3 hours. Ended up trekking all the way to the airport and it had 0 loot. Just a couple choppers. One guy in a chinook was hanging out there and offered me a ride back to the city but honestly at that point I didn't want to play anymore. I was tired of the city after finding nothing for so long and with the airport having nothing as well it was time to just stop playing. Map is massive. Probably too massive. A smaller fully urban map with more loot density would probably be a bit better. I only ran into 1 player up close and 1 I could see about 200 meters away. And a couple helis flying about. -
I've seen this numerous times. One time a few days ago we actually unloaded a magazine each into one guy who was standing but it turned out he wasn't even alive. More recently I saw 2 or 3 of them in Cherno right next to each other.

My character fell to the ground in prone mode and I can't even crawl -- what happened?
ALiborio replied to lukeman3000's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Probably was just some kind of glitch. I've had a problem where I've been knocked out (hourglass symbol) and then when I wake up my guy continuously tries to move backwards no matter what I do, seems like something similar to that. -
Anyone notice that every single server has hackers?
ALiborio replied to big_t's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No it's not every server, although it is enough that it's a definite problem. Most high population servers I've been on have been hacked at some point. One notable exception was the non-hive server I jumped on today. It was over 40 people and no hacks and not as much KOS as other servers. -
It's possible it got stuck off screen somewhere, one thing you can try. If it's showing up in your taskbar (bottom of screen usually) then hover your mouse over the icon in the taskbar until the name of the window pops up saying DayZ Commander. Right click on the name and you should see a menu with some options. Click on the "Move" option an then without touching your mouse again use the arrow keys to move the window around until it is within view. I know it happens sometimes with other programs so it's worth a try.

Dayz, fanboyz myths , and impact of hacking on the game [different approach]
ALiborio replied to bw.shuggoth@gmail.com's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If this is all true it makes me feel better about all the deaths I've had recently. I thought I was just deficient. lol -
1.7.2.5 fixed this issue for me most of the time. Once in a while I do get some minor artifacts but using the flush command has always fixed it.

It's an alpha mod. Bugs are bound to happen. There is no way to get your gear back so just start over like the rest of us do when we die or lose gear. The best thing to do is report this bug so hopefully they figure it out in the future.

First murder was a complete accident, axed a guy as he came around the corner as I was just fighting off zombies. I felt horrible about it cause upon looting him he had pretty much no gear so I knew he just spawned. Second time I geared up decently and I headed into a house after another guy, not sure what my plan was but when I saw he was armed I got scared and shot him in the back of the head. Felt a little bad about it but justified it as preserving my life cause he would have shot me for my better gear. After that I had very little contact with any other players until finally near the NWAF I was attacked by 2 players and I proceeded to take them both out, only suffering a minor injury. Felt no remorse since they attacked first. After losing gear to a hacker I spent more time down in the coastal cities attempting to get some PvP action since wandering the north got a little boring. Got sniped, then got killed in a fire station (I shot first with a shotgun and it sucked, his enfield finished me quickly). Then I was able to kill someone at the airfield in Balota as he came down the stairs of the control tower. Since then I've been attempting to be a bandit although I've been killed more than I kill. I did let someone live since they only had an axe and they didn't rush me although I died shortly after to a satchel charge. Today I got over excited at what seemed to be a sure kill. A guy was on the eastern hill sniping into Elecktro and I attempted to shoot him with my enfield at almost 300 m. My aim wasn't good enough and he eventually found me and took me out before I could get him. I may try my hand at banditry again but I need to get better at killing before being killed.

The problem is that they automatically assume that because it's thought of as a possibility in the future that the devs are going to completely gimp the PC version. As someone else in this thread mentioned. Minecraft did the same thing, developed the PC version as it should be and then made versions for mobile and console which aren't the exact game but are tailored for their platform. I do agree that Rocket would be doing all his potential customers a disservice if he gimped the standalone in order to make it run on current consoles. Which brings up another point which is that the next generation isn't that far off. There have been numerous reports about the "Xbox 720" dev kits being out there already. So it could potentially run on the next gen consoles without much issue. The only issue I see for consoles is the controls, not having the number of keys that a keyboard has makes all the numerous actions you can currently do in DayZ nearly impossible to map to a controller. Of course if they do develop a console version I think that it would be best to have console players play with console players and PC players with PC players to keep things as fair as possible. The point of my original post was that I'm just tired of the whining from PC gamers who claim consoles are killing PC gaming. The only way you can save PC gaming is by putting your money where your mouth is and buy PC games. If PC games were as profitable as console games maybe they would get the love they deserve.

lol @ master race PC gamers who hate that consoles even exist.

I really really enjoy the sacriel, fhrope, oshiseven, dasquirrelsnuts, etc. squad teamplay. Of course you need a squad of decent players with you to do it as well. One thing they don't do often enough is have multiple players point of views of one incident shown at the same time. I think fhrope did it once where he got footage from oshi to show what was going on with the other half of the squad.

Do you keep to the easy to find weapons or rare weapon's?
ALiborio replied to ocelot07's topic in New Player Discussion
AKs aren't too uncommon I found 3 in one firestation once. Just hit up any military spawns (deerstands, firestations, military tents, hangars, etc.) and you'll find plenty of AK ammo as well as the AK variants as well as the M4 variants and STANAG ammo. Only rare gun I've really passed up is an FN FAL I found on a heli crash with no ammo since it wasn't worth dropping my AKS-74 Kobra with 6 mags for it. -
Completely overwhelmed by sudden SixUpdater Changes
ALiborio replied to Darrus Dreadtiger's topic in New Player Discussion
I switched to DayZ Commander as well and it works pretty well. In the versions menu you can see which updates are available and how many servers are running each version so you can hold off on an update if only a small number of servers are running it so far. -
Spawn reset overnight? Screwed me over. :(
ALiborio replied to SteveLord's topic in New Player Discussion
It happened to me once. Logged out just east of Cherno and next log in I was near Kamyshovo or whatever. I've heard others on the forums complaining about it as well. -
Go through houses, cut corners to break line of sight, run through bushes/trees. In a large enough town/city it's easy to just run from house to house without bringing more than a couple zombies with you. For example if I'm hitting up Cherno from the west side I run to the store and grab stuff and out the back to the red brick house, to the church then towards the firestation. The only houses that are death traps are the ones that have one door that goes into a little hallway and then a dining room to the left. They easily block you in so if you don't have an axe or pistol you're screwed in those.

UPDATED DAILY: I'm Issuing a Warning to Any Snipers
ALiborio replied to ZombieSpecialist's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
sigh.. I liked the idea so I was going to attempt to do something similar spawned in the woods near Cherno and as soon as I moved out of my bush a ghillied guy with a silenced weapon lit me up. Oh well I guess I just need to get better. -
How battle eye DESTORYED my Heli and my squad..
ALiborio replied to Sethen's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm gonna assume this happened a few times. I've found numerous crashed helicopters with player bodies around that were not looted so I assume they were crashed and not shot down. -
when is the dayz standalone coming out?
ALiborio replied to BlueShock's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Confirmed it will be alpha by the end of this year. Gain access to alpha builds by buying it at a discount during the alpha stage (ala minecraft) -
Is there a trick to finding crashed helicopters?
ALiborio replied to XOLiD's topic in New Player Discussion
Although they are supposed to spawn randomly outside of forests and towns I'll list where I've found the 4 or 5 that I've found. One was in the airfield in the field in the middle of the runways. One was west of Stary Sobor. One was south of Novy Sobor. And another was near Pustoshka if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure I found another as well but I can't remember exactly where but it was up north. -
Found a DMR in the deerstands at the military tent camp near Balota airstrip. Sadly I died from a bad zombie aggro 5 minutes later and I swapped it for an AKS in an attempt to save myself and when I got back to my body it had despawned cause it was on the ground.

Looking for older like minded people to group with.

I'm 24 East coast US Trying to get away from playing too much lone wolf as it gets boring once you've got all the basic gear. Joined up with someone from the forum yesterday and it was fun despite us getting killed PM if you want to group up in the future.
