Just wanted to say that I just updated today to 1.7.2.3 and went to the beta patch 94876. After successfully updating both dayz and the beta i went and logged onto a new server to see how the update went. Just like i had heard, i started over fresh with nothing. Went around on the coast for a little and then got fed up with my condition so i did a character restart. Then something amazing happened. Once i loaded back into the game, I had all of my old gear back and was back in the same location i had been in before the update had been applied. I have no idea why this occurred, but the same exact circumstances happened to my friend as well. Figured i might as well put this here as it seems pretty relevant.
