There happens to be a few things that DayZ is missing. First off, its official map lacks a certain aesthetic element. Police stations. There's fire stations a plenty (without fire trucks?), but not a single police station. I've never heard of a modern community that didn't have a need for police. Even third world countries have police! But not a single police zombie. Not a single station. Radios. The ability to try and meet other players at a safe distance would give us a chance to gauge the other person before meeting up. This may help with the constant "let's kill everyone, don't trust anyone" philosophy that the game suffers from. More varied outfits starting outfits. I mean seriously, blue outfits are going to screw the wearer. There's nothing that says shoot me quite like wearing a bright blue American MAILMAN costume! Where's the blue jeans? Where's the jackets? Where's shorts and Hawaiian shirts? More civilian outfits chosen at start -- but consistently rendered among others. There's nothing like seeing I'm wearing black, hiding against black, and someone else sees me wearing bright blue. Or hiding against something blue because I see myself wearing blue, and they see a black outfit. We could use more outfits in general, including more genuine military uniforms with helmets, police uniforms, priest outfits, etc., etc., etc. This would actually help increase the role playing and "drama" aspect introduced in the trailer. For example if someone got a police uniform, they might be more inclined to try and play as police. If someone got a soldier's uniform, they might play as a soldier wiping out the infection or group up with other soldiers to perform actual operations. Hero and Bandit costumes are good ideas. But if you change your outfit, who is going to know? I think instead of a full costume, that the player should have something a little more universal. Such as a bandit always having a mask. Though not so sure about heroes. I encourage more official maps and a different hive for each. Vehicles. Way too many of the servers have that no vehicle bug. Permission and/or a license that can be found and used for monetizing well made videos promoting the game on youtube. There's plenty more, I'm sure, and no doubt the community will add it here. It's my hope that this community will keep this thread active and that it will be seen by Rocket and BI.

Thought of something else that slipped my mind before. Women with alternative outfits, camo clothes, ghillie suits, etc. Thankfully people aren't usually pricks to a girl once she speaks, but it'd be nice to see my wife have some selection in how she looks and what she wears. Also.. Do women just not get infected? I haven't seen a single female zombie. I hope this changes for the stand alone.

Ghilliesuit not working for Females in DayZ

What's sad, is that we still can't change female clothes OR our appearance. What if I was a black woman? Or brown? Or Hispanic? Arabic? Indian? What if I wasn't a mailman to start with? -
Indeed, I know I'm playing a mod. I also know that this mod got signed up to become a full fledged game for anywhere from 30 to 60 dollars US. I also know that this mod, if quickly converted into a game, will be very disappointing without various improvements. O.o; Other people, who looked at what Rocket did, came up with modified versions of Lingor, Takistan, and others -- same thing Rocket did with Chern, and managed much more varied outfits. It isn't that hard to expect it, nor to implement. But if someone sees me with an outfit found in a box that someone threw out, "omg you're a hacker, you're wearing a police uniform!" >.<; It's like prick, I found this and I like it, and it better find itself in the real standalone.

Updated to 1.7.2.2...now Wait for Host

Weird. It's how I fixed that problem for myself. o.O; Of course I followed the instructions for creating beta starters using windows command files, etc., though I always had the waiting for host hangups until after the sixupdater and using it to join games. I'm gonna go back into one now. Good luck! -

Found a solution. If you're using steam, did the beta 94945 or whatever update for ArmA 2 OA... Try out the SixUpdater thingy on the DayZ site. Was able to join games without any trouble after that. -

Got the same issue. Only had it after updating to the beta 94945. Can't download an older beta due to the password b.s. Can't join any games. Period. Before the beta, could join games but got stuck on the "Loading" screen at the end, where I could hear everything including my own feet as I pressed W.
