If you play alone you don't need the bloodbags/epipens. Good luck with NW airfield. I suggest you loot deer-stands or go to NE Airfield or Berezino if you prefer to live a bit longer. Decent loot and less campers there imo. Besides, NW Airfield is a lot more fun if you are already somewhat geared up with at least medium range automatic weapons or medium-tier sniper rifles.

DayZ Tutorial: How to get geared up quickly
Alpo replied to hockeywise@juno.com's topic in New Player Discussion
He saw a guy on the roof holding a bigger gun - a gun he wanted. Guy on roof asks him if he is friendly and he says yeah sure (whatever lol) please don't shoot me. "I come in peace" lol. The other guy should have warned him then shot him the moment he got too close. I mean what the hell was he supposed to do if he is not playing a friendly? Say no? Do you see the problem? If he says no he is dead. If he remains quiet he is probably going to get shot as well. So might as well play along. He didn't try to befriend the guy first or anything. Just a small reassurance that everything is fine before the inevitable BLAMBLAMBLAMBLAMBLAMBLAMBLAM! Asking other people if they are friendly is a very amateur way of dealing with strangers in DayZ. If you want to find out whether someone is friendly or not you will have to observe them for a while. Simply asking and then taking their word for it is just not a very smart move. It is true, there are some (many) people who find joy in betraying others in various and sometimes pretty scum-baggy ways. I don't think OP is one of those guys. Remember, he made a video to help new players? Complaining about people who do this will not make you a better player, nor will it prolong your survival. Adjusting to them however, will. Besides, only day 1 players are friendly in Chernogorsk. They get smarter. Eventually... -
In reality you have more stances than crouch prone and stand. You can stretch your neck, stand on your toes, climb over obstacles, dig holes, crawl on all fours, lay on your back. The game engine severely limits all those movement abilities we are so used to in real life. That is why using 3rd person to somewhat compensate for the lack of this kind of movement is not really a bad thing. And yes, if you prefer to have it off just use expert servers. Some veteran servers have 3rd person disabled as well.

Nooooo why did you get off the bus? Hilarious vid mate so sick :D I know you raged but it was so worth it since you frapsed everything. I almost died laughing when your friend gets off and is instagibbed by that jeep. beans+like Next time you get into a similarly shitty situation do not run. Stay where you have at least one side covered. Keep your back to the bus and take as many of the suckers down as you can before they kill you. I was praying you had a grenade in your inventory to lob at the truck and say astalavista baby.

I have no idea why I decided to try and enter through the 3 main gates. Some inexplicable urge to interact with the environment I guess ;) As others mentioned it is best to use the gap in the fence right by the sandbags along the road to the north-east of the camp. I don't go there anymore.
-
While you're at it go check out the 4 deerstands south-east of the air-field But don't enter the front gates ;) http://youtu.be/pNncoDULiM8

Seriously? It's an alpha man. Who cares if you die? Your gear is only temporary and given to you so that you can test it and figure out how everything works. You are a bug-tester so take off your pansy-panties and go fulfill your damn duty as a zombie killing hatchet weaving guinea pig. If you get killed you move on and try something new. Quit worrying about your gear or the game will not be fun for you.

You mean this? Fps have been improving a lot in the last few updates but artifacts are back. They used to be caused by barb-wire fencing I thought? My machine runs DayZ pretty well mostly I get 50-75 fps but yeah, hope this gets fixed soon. I'll try the flush command. http://youtu.be/ydF7lY-qxHo Specs Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit - SP1 Core 2 Quad Q9450 2.66GHz @ 3.20GHz (I know, right? lol) ATI Radeon HD 5850 (Catalyst 12.6) (Stock Speed ) 4GB DDR2 (yeah but they are fast as hell) 120GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD (holy shit PC boots in <12 sec now)

I like to play with it but I have not been able to "add" it to my regular pack. I was pretty certain that the only option is to completely replace the backpack. It has severe disadvantages obviously but not having a bulky pack on your shoulders has some pro's as well. Your silhouette is smaller and while crawling you look almost like a crawler-zombie to someone who is not paying attention. Basically it let's you blend in better with the environment and with zombies. It works I tried it back when you could imitate a zombie crouch-walk but I think they fixed the glitch where you were able to crouch-walk in a really creepy zed-like way. ;(

Since I die so frequently in this game I was thinking about starting a new video series. Something along the lines of "10000000 ways to die in DayZ" How about this one for starters? http://youtu.be/pNncoDULiM8

Nice shooting Tex! Bandits make dayz fun. PvP makes DayZ what it is. Without both those elements it becomes boring quickly. That doesn't mean you have to actively seek the PvP element but feeling it as a constant threat in the back of your mind is important for this game to be so scary. No bandits and this game turns into a picnic.

Nah man I was fine when I got back I had a short timer, 15 sec maybe. Blood was down to 1,5k but had morphine and bandages so no problem :P Back in the forrest hunting boar :)

I think doing that whole gain his trust in chat thing is total bottom feeder strategy. Unsure if just bored or if actually deriving pleasure from gaining other people's trust before inevitably killing them. I sometimes wonder if people that go out of their way to try and humiliate their victims in a game have a similar character in rl - a secret passenger locked somewhere in a dark corner of their heart. I'm not saying it's wrong to do in dayZ, I just think it's a weird thing to do as a normal human being. Btw I gave you a like so maybe you will give the next survivor you see a pass. or just kill him without the talk.

My fellow players, a revelation which has occurred to me:

Bugs should be reported - not fought. Same for cheaters. Don't waste time trying to fight them. Don't feed them with your emotions. -
I think OP has a point and I am somewhere on the same page. For most people who have a tent on a server, dying is nothing more then a mild nuisance. Makes the game easy mode but I don't really care as long as it is not forced on me. I prefer to play it as realistically as possible. Which is also a reason why I never try to recover my gear after I die. For me it just totally kills the immersion and the role playing aspect. I wish there were some real "hardcore" servers in this game where pansy-hoarding and saving of loot for your next character was not possible. A place where people cannot just go and recover their gear after they died. Just for the ones among us that enjoy this type of experience.

I am afraid I have to admit that your content is not ADHD-friendly. In the future please consider a disclaimer/warning for clips that last longer then 30 seconds. Or maybe you could add a sped-up version where everybody sounds like Mickey Mouse?

Wait... WHAT!?! Seriously?

I usually carry one in my inventory and 2 in my backpack. After drinking 2 canteens I start planning my next water-mission if I was not able to re-fill somewhere along the way. I drink sodas whenever I see one laying around but I don't pick them up. Same goes for beans. I prefer having cooked meat in my inventory. Besides, popping cans aggros players.

Looking for a person at NW Airfield to save me
Alpo replied to Business Gecko's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Humanity apparently holds on to Alt-F4 whenever it needs to be saved :/ For all I care, anybody who disconnects to save his life deserves to remain unconscious forever or until respawn :P -
Maintaining a PC takes a bit of work and you will have to do some reading as well. I know, right..? Consoles are more for people who just don't care for that hassle. Do whatever you enjoy the most. If you decide to build a PC, get an SSD - they are great and a massive improvement over regular HDD's. The person that said not to get one is really missing out and I do not see the reason for not installing say a 120GB SSD. They are quiet cheap and reliable already so at least use an SSD for your OS. Get a separate large HDD to store your data on. My PC is quiet old already, and installing an SSD makes it feel like I am on a brand-new machine. Huge improvement in every aspect. And I enjoy the <15 second boot. You can have the fastest processor, the most expensive gpu and all the ram you want it goes to waste if the system drive is not up to par. When you build a PC make sure that you plan ahead a bit. Try not to buy hardware that is already obsolete. I mean you don't need all the newest stuff, but just make sure you plan it carefully and go find an expert forum for this topic. Take your time with the planning and don't rush in acquiring all the parts. If a component you want is not in stock it is often worth it to wait a couple weeks or search some other place instead of going for the next best item.

Thanks for the info mate :)
