Yeah I hear you mate. I have the same problem sometimes and my old PC just loves to lag behind while I am trying to type. Especially when there are other programs running eating up CPU time and memory. But hey, it's worth taking the time because in the end people are much more likely to read and reply to something without having to first abuse their brain to auto-complete words. Most people go through a lot of posts every day, and most normal people's brains have some sort of protective mechanism which will make them just skip over stuff that seems too tedious for their brain to process. Figuring out what a misspelled word or sentence means can often be quiet tedious on a person's mind in the long run. People get tired much faster that way. So yeah. I think just this aspect alone makes it worth it to double check what I write. If zero words in my text are underlined with a red line I finally dare to click that post button ;) I grew up learning to type on mechanical typewriters in school so this stuff is still pretty amazing to me even though I majored in IT. I still remember the teacher deducting one whole grade for every single typing/spelling error and she used to remove the correction tape from the machines before the tests. We also had to place a wooden cover on top of the typewriter which would cover up our hands and all the keys while she was dictating what we had to write down. Usually 2-4 pages of A4. 4 mistakes and you flunked the test. No way to correct. But I must admit I enjoyed the class along with most other students. No need to say I did not do exceptionally well at it.

They probably just wanted to check your backpack. Then they saw you had nothing good on you so they decided to do a good deed for all the terrible things they did to other players in the last few days. Some sort of personal redemption so that those terrible nightmares stop. ;) Honestly, would you still let them help you if you were decked out with high powered rifle, NVG, GPS etc? Me personally, I'd stick to hunting cows and plucking feathers from chicken for my daily blood ration.

I think OP is saying that mentioned server is using a private hive. Which afaik is not legit, and if true said server will probably be reported and removed soon. Hey Siikest, you seem like a nice person but please consider using some browser plugin that corrects grammar so that we can read better. You probably type too fast some times. I think most people use one. It works well for me. Sometimes I don't even know how a word is spelled so I just type it in the way it sounds and when I right-click it I get a list of words that are pronounced right and I can just click on it to replace the word I messed up :D And sorry I hope I don't appear rude. I just wanted to point it out.

I hate it when I have to shoot somebody in this game but I cannot imagine playing it if there were no bandits around that is very true. I don't want to join the dark side. For me being worried about other survivors, and their intentions is absolutely crucial for the game's immersion factor. DayZ simply wouldn't be half as good as it is right now without bandits and people that try to ruin your dayz. And I mean "ruin" in a good and fair way. Not in a scum-baggy cheating sort of way. I find joy when I am engaged in a good fight, and if I don't make it out alive I usually commend villain or acknowledge his good move. It is a game after all and all those things are in the game's spirit.

Yeah that's why one of the first priorities when starting a new life should always be to visit a hospital and find some of that fixer-up. Finally decking out your character up north, and then getting your legs destroyed by zeds in some dump out in nowhereland because you were not paying attention for a split-second is a really crappy spot to be in. Because crawling for hours is not very much fun. I wish broken legs would have a chance of getting an infection the longer the fracture is left untreated which then slowly kills you if you fail to administer morphine. Btw, if you somehow manage to find a bicycle early on you may skip that whole morphine mumbo-jumbo. Appearently even broken legs are easily capable of accelerating your magic self-repairing bicycle to speeds up to 80 km/h. :D You party up with other people outside of the game. In forums such as this one for example. Or with people you know personally. Trying to party up with unknowns that you just meet in-game will usually not end well for one of you. mostly you. It can be a refreshing experience from time to time if you're into that sort of thing.

This is some funny stuff.....one word Elecktro!
Alpo replied to RogueFox's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Pretty funny clip actually. I am big fan of shenanigans with randos :D -
This would also be helpful to see when a person who just disconnected on you after you shot him tries to reconnect behind you etc. Disconnecting and connecting would be less anonymous and I believe this would help deter people from doing it at least a little bit.
-
Yes a simple 10 second forced timer on any disconnect event should already solve the brunt of problems. It should be interesting to study how much the average survivor lifetime drops if such a fix is ever be released.

Zipper, Sometimes what is obvious to a person who has played the game for weeks is completely invisible to a player who has just picked up the game a few days ago. See, I did not notice the different gunshots. I assumed the pitch changed because of me closing in on distance. But it's good advice I will pay more attention to that in the future. This is exactly what I was hoping for. Pointers to what I need to look for and how to get better at this game. So thanks for the good advice my friend. I ran outside because I wanted to get a better angle on him and I did not want to stay inside a building with an Enfield as I have a better advantage over longer distances. I felt I had better way of avoiding detection or line of sight outside or behind the building. In hindsight it probably was a plan not well thought out and destined to fail. I think the shot sounded way too close to be the guy standing at the treeline. No, I think I got shot by the other guy from the exact spot I shot him from previously. This is where I disagree with you and say that the bullet that killed me was fired less then 10m away from the guy I heard moments earlier behind the wall. I did not understand exactly what was going on aside from the disconnect and subsequent ghosting. That is what I mean with fishy. Also the DC and then being up against multiple people seemingly working together threw me off quiet a bit to be honest. I kinda thought the guy would just move on to a different server for a while and not risk being shot again. So i moved on which obviously turned out to be the wrong decision. What I plan to do in the future is to just gtfo as fast as possible and leave the hostile area behind me. I did not intend to imply they were using 3rd party tools to do the aiming for them or to see through walls/pink textures etc. in case that was the reason for the slightly strict/angry note in your reply. If that was my suspicion I would have filed a cheat report.

DayZ- Meeting Creepy People in Elektrozavodsk (Gameplay/Commentary)
Alpo posted a topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
I enjoyed this run and think I need to do stuff like this more often. It feels almost like I am conducting some sort of social experiment. What do you think? Critics/Comments are very welcome. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXUOPJDzPzc -
DayZ- Meeting Creepy People in Elektrozavodsk (Gameplay/Commentary)
Alpo replied to Alpo's topic in DayZ Mod Gallery
Haha yeah and you can tell that he was quiet worried about my intentions with the hatchet as soon as he realized I regained conciousness and his evil plan failed. -
I am extremely jelly right now. Once I find one of those my evil plan is to put it infront of the most frequented deerstand, and hide in bush next to it with a camera. I will then drop one morphine injector just out of reach but clarly visible to the person trapped in there.
-
Thanks daedrick From now on I will empty the whole clip. Lesson learned and promptly applied a few hours ago but the guy still somehow managed to DC on me after I smashed him down with the hatchet multiple times. I also met a super creepy stalker-type person today and played along to see what he ends up doing. You will not be disappointed if you like to see people suffer in first person view ;) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXUOPJDzPzc

-A player that just fired a bullet in the last 10 seconds has to wait 30s before he can disconnect from the game. If he exits prematurely his character will remain in that spot for 30s and will be exposed to whatever threats are around him. -Player that just lost blood any amount of blood or was wounded in any manner cannot exit for 30s. Again, the character will remain in the world if the game is forcefully closed or if the connection is lost. -Should you decide to disconnect in a safe spot you will have to wait for a 10second timer to run down where you are not allowed to move (just like the bandages) before the game logs you out. Shooting, and any directional movement, also usage of equipment aborts the timer and lets you instantly resume combat. So if your game randomly crashes at any point where you have not been wounded or otherwise incapacitated your character will remain in the world for 10 seconds before exiting. -If you lose connection to the server the 10 second timer will initiate server-sided the moment you lose connection - unless of course if you are in a combat situation like mentioned above you will have a 30 second timer. -To stop ghosting the server must be able to recognize when a player changed position after logging back in. if that positional change was less then x seconds ago, and not on the same server then put player back to coordinates where he disconnected previously on the original server. This will prevent people abusing this mechanic to gain positional advantage and circumvent combat situations) Also revert health and gear and status to where player previously logged off if it has changed. Notice that all those settings would still let people who try to avoid combat (aka pussies) to log off unless they have just been hit/injured. Doesn't that make any sense, or is there a flaw in my logic? Obviously I do not have a programming background so I have absolutely no clue how big a project it would be to implement such a mechanic. But I hope that something along those lines makes it into the game at some point in the near future.

Yeah it's not just a few. Lately it seems like everybody I encounter disconnects after either being shot at or after failing at killing me then tries to ghost. I just started recording this stuff because I think it is hillarious. And I will be uploading it on YT. I don't really care about using up system resources. I've got plenty. And it might help catch one or the other full time-cheater here and there. I am a bit sad to read that appearently it is not on the priority list of bug-fixes. In my opinion it is the #1 game-breaker right now. I can deal with pretty much everything else that is not yet fully functional in the game. But people doing this constantly makes me want to go on empty servers and play against zombies only. I just recorded another pretty funny 40min. video of where in the end a guy repeatedly engages me and then DC's as soon as he loses the upper hand. I hack him down multiple times with my hatchet inside a building but in the end I think he saves his life again.

Yeah I'm not sure stealing/destroying someone else's gear is going to improve the trust-relationship. Might actually increase the chance of him plotting sinister long-term plans for your painful demise ;)
-
I think that is incorrect my friend. Yes he killed a guy who was no threat to him and who would have most likely been a great help in many sticky situations. Will he live longer? We will never know - perhaps he will soon wish he had not killed him because he needs a blood-pack or help against other bandits. Or just somebody to pass some time with and not feel so damn lonely in this game. I would never do this to someone who tried to help me. I realize that most people's opinions differ quiet a bit and you mean absolutely nothing to them. They will not even hesitate a second before putting a bullet into the back of your head. For absolutely no apparent gain/reason other then "I was worried he might shoot me later" or "I play to win" it seems. So what if he shoots you later? why not take the risk and maybe something good will happen? Worst that can happen is he screws you over and you respawn somewhere along the coast. So what? People that screw you over like this are not paranoid or careful. They are mostly just selfish, ignorant and in total disregard of the traits that make a person human. Don't get me wrong, I think bandits are great and very important, and the game would not be the same without them. But there is a difference between a bandit that shoots you for loot or because he likes shooting people, and a sociopath/crazy person that gets gratification from betraying the guy who just helped or screwing someone over whom's trust he just gained. Gear spawns are infinite in this game, and so killing for gear is not a valid response because if everyone would just be friendly everyone would have totally decked out gear and would never have to worry about losing it. We would all be singing kumbaya at the camp-fire. But people just like to make life hard for others. Even if doing so makes life harder for them in return.

#Yes I was thinking about it. I wrote that in opening post: The only reason I would ever DC is if I think I am being cheated/ghosted. This was close and the reason I stayed in had nothing to do with me recording. It was me telling myself to not be like them even though I think DCing would have been ok in my case. I just wanted to go kill the bastard. So I am not sure what is so funny. I have never DCd out of combat in this game. Not even when out in the field alone getting eaten by zeds I die like a man and start over. I have never been into the cod franchise tbh I come from TF2 and BF background but the reload was dumb I know but I am a noob and I thought I dropped him. And it was only the second guy I killed in this game despite having logged quiet a few nights and days ;) So that's it? I died because I am slow at aiming/suck? We shall compare our aimspeed once you reach 35 years of age, and we will see if you still have the same PC game reflexes. Another thing to consider is that when I record with Fraps I get 15-20 fps. have you ever tried pulling off flickshots with 15-20 fps and different sensitivities along horizontal and vertical mouse movements? Ok then, thank you for your help. and your kind suggestions. From now on I will empty the whole clip into them. I don't know why I reloaded. Stupid muscle-reflex from so much red orchestra bolt-action rifles. ;) As much as I am thankful for your comments and your input I would really appreciate it if you can help me out and tell me what to do better. I know I suck at this game but really you have to tell me in every post? /edit

i has a very dumb question about item looting ....
Alpo replied to Seradest's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I usually don't click directly on the loot, instead I hover over it while using the scrollwheel, and then select one of the options that pop up on the left side. Usually you want to select "Gear". This will open the menu where you can chose what you please from the pile or body.
