    Dogs are comming!

Maybe the dogs will sniff out the hackers. "Whats that Lasie? I am about to get thunderdomed?" roof roof
  2. My 2cents. I am all for private servers, for many reasons. Some that directly effect me and some that don't. My personal experience on private servers actually salvaged playing the game for me, I was at my wits end with hackers, ghosts, and combat loggers, couple that with shit no one can control and you had a very frustrated player (me). The enjoyment I have gotten from private servers has rekindled my passion for the game. But enough of that B.S. There are a lot of issues with DayZ. Admin abuse, hacking, etc etc etc. Most of these issues are connected with the notion every server has to be connected to the hive and therefor follow the "hives" rules. That's bullshit. All that does is choke a gaming community, doesn't allow it to grow or take on a life of its own, doesn't allow it to become unique. And once something becomes stale and boring people brush it off. I am not a server admin, nor will I ever be one with the rules as they are now; however, I have had numerous servers and clans in years past for other games. Though they are different from DayZ many of the principles still apply. I completely understand what someone posted about the hive is essential for collecting data and seeing what it can do. So with that I suggest, like I have before, Rocket and his team rents servers. Let them pay the 100 dollars a month and let them follow whatever rules they put in place. If collecting data is that vital, then they should also be prepared to commit themselves to being the ones to collect it. So the hive would be alive, as much as Rocket and company can afford it to be, and if you want to be connect to the "main" hive, then yes you have to follow their rules. Otherwise, like with damn near every other game, you are on your own. I mean think about it, look at the forums for servers, people bitching and moaning about being banned, admin abuse etc etc etc, that bullshit has always been between the player and the clan ( or server admin), but here, the way it is now, its left to the mob. And the wheels on the bus go round and round. Admins should have total control of their server, for better or for worst. "But what if an admin locks the server and he and his clan mates just loot farm"- so what. The only reason thats an issue is because of the hive. If that server wasn't connected to the hive, and there was no threat of these people jumping into another server with that elite gear, then who the fuck cares? "But thats not fair"- go to another server. It is really that simple. The system has always been - person rents server- person runs server as he see fits- community likes or dislikes server- server becomes popular or dies. Right now with this system its person rents server and goes through hell most of the time. ( not all the time mind you) Private servers and private hives will sustain this game. It will add unique and fresh aspects to it, just look at Lingor, thats cool as hell. Some people will like it, some won't, BUT the option is there, allow the community to determine what they like. I don't know. It really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. This thread will be locked or deleted in a day or two after it becomes a huge flame war.

    Does Arma2 require ram?

Unless its windows 98 he is screwed. I think even XP required 2gigs of ram. Vista sure as shit did and 7 isn't that far behind.
  4. I need to stop drinking. Or at least this early. I get it now... Anyway my point still stands. But it is common that people don't know a games engine, or engines in general so they just refer to the engine as the game that uses it. Either way, doh!
  5. How so? It's really the only logic approach. B.I.S. has certainly appreciate the sales boost to Arma II. In fact I would dare say it has sold more copies in the time span on DayZ then prior. Let us be realistic, The OFP and ARMA series are great games but not big sellers. They do "ok" but industry standards. When ARAM III comes out, B.I.S., STEAM, and everyone else ( non player wise) will be busy trying too bolster sales for the new game, not the old game. B.I.S. doesn't want to compete against themselves. Sales are sales but they have to cover production costs. We can split hairs on that point but I regress to the main subject. RIght now DayZ is using damn near everything ARMA II has to offer. Besides some very crafty script work on Rockets part the core game is very much there still; models, assets, dummy scripts etc. That is a shit ton of work. A shit ton. So honestly the most logical thing is for B.I.S. and Rocket to come to terms, use VR4, and have B.I.S. publish DayZ. Otherwise your talking years before a standalone is even realistic. And from what I have heard, Rocket said something about the standalone coming out in a couple of months... Just think about it, he is familiar with the scripting in the engine, he knows and understands what it can and can't do, it's perfectly logical to assume that if DayZ is ever going to be a standalone ANY time soon, it would NEED to be on the VR engine.

    Steam recognizing DayZ

I personally have seen them do it for two other mods, wait... no 1 other mod, the lord of the rings mod for total war, no stike that, they did it for Rome Total Realism also, a mod for Rome Total War. Its obviously not very common, and it does speak to the popularity of the mod(s).

    Script kiddie named WillieStroker

lol Willie Stroker. True story, when i was younger there was mail order porn, on the last few pages of porno mags ( only the raunchy hardcore ones) there was an ordering slip, real basic but a check next to whatever film had the best looking cover photo ( thats all you got to see) anyway, you could only pay with check or money order. Well I was 12 or 13 so a check was out of the question, so I had to get a money order, I use to use the name Willie Stroker as the recipient on the incoming porn just in case I got caught by my mom. Willie Stroker... hehe

    I Was Randomly Banned

lol, your jackass. Maybe he did, maybe he didn't. I really hope one day you get banned for whatever reason, and come pissing and moaning in here about. I got banned for 2 days. Global # somebullshit... Logged on after two days no problems. 5 days later I get an email from Battle Eye in some garbage broken English asking for information, Player ID and whatnot. 4 Days later they reply saying they have no record of me being banned. Course while all this shit was going on, I was reading posts like yours, accusing me of hacking, and how the all mighty Battle Eye makes no mistakes and NEVER false positives. Shit is a joke

    Standalone Modding

if its a stand alone game, with single player functionality then whats the harm? even if it does have multiplayer functionality whats the harm? this mod is the perfect example of how mods prolong the life of games and keep them moving forward.

Found a hacker crate above elektro

meh, no one knows the server so it doesn't really matter. I just think its cute he is getting all worked up over it. Wait till he wonders in the woods and stumbles across 300 tents filled to the brim with everything the game has to offer ( and things it doesnt).Just keep hanging around it man and draw attention to it, someone will notice, shoot you in the head and take your shit as well as whatever is in the crate.
  15. jdblair5

Found a hacker crate above elektro

why dont you post the server in the cheating report forums, maybe the admin can do something. oh wait, they cant do anything. loot the shit.

Found a hacker crate above elektro

    Sooo 2.5? Where is it?

    Always one on every thread.
  18. These threads are pointless unfortunately. All they ever become is a flame war between justifiably disgruntled server admins and fan boys that refuse to look at things objectively. Sadly, I have yet to see any DayZ dev members get involved with these discussions. Very few people appreciate what server admins do, both in terms of time and monetary commitment. When an admin complains about how their hands are tied behind their backs most people just tell them to fuck off because another server will soon replace theirs; it's a flawed and unappreciative logic.
  19. The game is dead as far as I know, has been for some years. Only point I was making is the name, ZDay, refer to the post I was responding to, I was being a smart ass, as the name DayZ is hardly original in itself.
  20. Sorry man, but those screen shots are using 3D assets and elements. Not having a Hud in the shot doesn't mean shit. Here is a screen shot from Arma II http://swotti.starmedia.com/tmp/swotti/cacheYXJTYSAY/imgArma%2021.jpg No Hud, game must not be real. Now I am not saying that a few models and environments constitutes a game, but some of you people just talk out your asses on every level possible.
  21. There is logic and validity in your statement, but keep in mind DayZ isn't a game either, it is a mod.
  22. ZDay was actually in development over 4 years ago, so yeah, doesn't really qualify as a "clone". Either way, the notion that when a game or anything for that matter is made and should hold go without contention is just silly. Products need other products to raise the bar and set new standards.
  23. You must be the photoshop grand wizard. some filters lol.
