  1. Sorry to hear it delta, but if it makes you feel any better you weren't the only one that lost stuff :) every one did. We had no choice that time around, it was the only way to fix the bugs on the server. But now the server is running very smoothly and its population is growing. Remember its Day Z and you shouldn't get attached to anything :) because its not a question of if.. but of when will I lose my stuff. I think if Day Z were to adopt a motto it should be "shit happens". With the endless amount of ways things could go terribly wrong in this game I think that motto fits it quite well :).
  2. Good server. As long as the Admin keeps the hackers off I'll be there :).

So we just got a chopper... great right? Well as we were flying around looking for heli crash sites I lost connection, howbeit, briefly and found my self in a free fall... :C I managed to have time to open the menu and disconnect but now I wonder what the outcome will be... Will I re-spawn safe and sound on the ground? or will I be making a new character... I currently cannot connect to the server so I guess only time will tell what my fate is. To be continued...

    Are there still friendly Survivor?

This is one of the reasons why I switched over to a non-hive server. Public hive servers = lots of douche bags. Yes you still have a few douche bags on non-hive servers; however, those encounters are minimal. Now when I come across a survivor in need I can help them without getting murdered for my kindness (well 99% of the time any ways). This mod, in my opinion, is plagued by douche bags. I know they are working on solutions to this problem, but in the meantime many players are jumping ship, never to return because of the plethora of negative in-game experiences.

Admins that cry when they die (US 1621)

First rule of Day Z: Don't get attached to anything you own. Yeah it sucks when an admin abuses power… If you don’t like a server then move to another one… simple as that.

    You're gonna love this:

That one of the many reasons why I play on a non-hive server. No server hopping, no cheating/hacking, and a very small douche bag population.
  8. Dirtdiver (DayZ)

What do you think about non-hive servers?

I play on a private battle eye enabled anti-cheat/hacker do-not-shoot-on-sight non-hive server and love it. I'll send you the server info in a PM so you can check it out.

    "FRIENDLY" is bullshit

I felt the same way. But instead of becoming what I myself loathed I just did some searching on the forum and found a “friendly” don’t-shoot-on-sight server. Yes they do exist. I haven’t had many problems since. Yes you’ll get the occasional douche but the majority of the players are like minded survivors. If you’re interested in checking it out just drop me a PM and I’ll send you the server info.

While spending hours gathering parts for a 4x4 truck we found my buddies and I finally got it up and running. I must admit the truck was pretty sweet. We loaded up our two buses (we look like a gypsy caravan) and headed off to repair a car and ATV we found while hunting for parts. By now its pitch black, all you can see is the cone of light that emanates from the headlights. We decided to head back to camp and loot along the way for more car parts when we made a wrong turn. ‘No biggie’ was my thought. With a quick look at the map I believe I found our location. The road should be directly south of us, so we decided to cut across a field to shorten our trip to the main road. Then without warning my character gets knocked unconscious. I tell my buddies in the two buses behind me that I’m unconscious and have no idea what just happened. They start laughing and tell me that I drove into the middle of a pond and that the truck is on fire. When I came to I managed to crawl out of the pond seconds before the 4x4 truck explodes into a ball of fire. My buds mended my wounds and revoke my driver’s license for the evening. You see that’s what makes DAYZ so great, little unexpected adventures like that, which you wouldn’t come across in any other game.

Name your good deed of the day.

The unknown factor is what makes this game so fun :). Not to many games get your heart pumping & plams sweating like this one. Its not a matter of IF you die... its a matter of WHEN you die. Split second decisions make all the difference between life and death. Had I stuck around after healing the guy, chit chatting on the roof, there would probably be two blood stains up there instead of one. And who's to say the guy I risked my own life to heal wouldn't have decided afterwards "That was nice... I want his stuff.." and shoot me as I headed back down the ladder to my truck. It makes playing as a good guy that much more of a challange. Anyone can run around and shoot everything on sight. But I believe that diminishes excitement and fun of... the unknown factor.

I was feeling generous the other day and after saving a guy from bleeding out and decided to offer some noobs rides to a few crash sites I’d found that day. They gave me their location over the global chat and off I went. I would get to a spot outside the city or town they were in were I had a good view of my surroundings and then guide them using landmarks to my location. I had the L85A2 AWS with IR so I wasn’t too worried about getting surprised. After picking up a few guys I was on my way to get the last one when one of my passengers shouted out, “A truck!” I looked around and saw a white 4x4 truck coming in fast. I was about to ask what his intentions were when he began ramming me. I couldn’t help but chuckle a bit; after all I was driving an Ural and outweighed him by a couple tons. After he finally came to the conclusion that his attempts to ram me off the road were futile he burned rubber past me and disappeared out of sight. I had an idea what he was up to, so as soon as I came around the bend I spotted his truck parked along the side of the road. He was hoping I would drive on by so he could shoot me through the windshield. So I just took the fork and head off another way. I could see him pause next to his truck for a minute (probably cursing and wondering why his plan wasn’t working) then he jumped into his truck took off after us. My passengers and I were getting a little tired of him, I’d rather go out of my way to avoid killing another player, but he just didn’t know when to walk away. So as we passed by a homestead out of his sight I dropped off my passengers and continued to drive off. I thought he would have caught on since he just tried the same tactic on me, but I guess you don’t need to be smart to be a bandit. He came rolling up to the house and the guys I had dropped off let him have it. Unfortunately the bandit still managed to get away, howbeit, with a truck full of bullet holes. He’s just lucky they were bad shots. After the ambush the noobs I offered to help admitted at first they were a bit skeptical about my offer, they thought I was just going to lure them in for the kill with a promise of glorious chopper loot. But now they know when I make a promise I deliver. It was a blast helping the out and turned out being quite the adventure too.

Name your good deed of the day.

While looting the NW Airfield I came across a guy bleeding out on the rooftop of the firehouse. He was low on blood so I offered to fix him up. Once restored to full health he offered me somthing in return I declined and told him to just return the favor by helping someone out. As I climbed back into my truck I offered him a ride before he could answer a sniper took him out, so I punched the gas and got out of dodge. I was glad to have helped... just wish he would have lived a little longer though.

Should armed vehicles be added to Dayz?

I think armed vehicles would make the game more realistic. But whether they add armed vehicles to the game or not I still think you should at least be able to shoot from vehicles. If you’re a passenger, and have a gun, you should be able to shoot out the windows or something.

    DayZ Stories

My brother and I were on our way to the NW Airfield when we came across a bus in the middle of the woods. Never having gone this far north we thought that it was odd to find a bus in that location. So we decided to investigate. After watching the bus for a while we decided to move in. My brother approached the front while I approached the rear of the bus. Just as my brother came around the front of the bus a shot rang out and I hear him yell out “I’m hit!”. I spot his shooter with his back to me and send led his way, but the server lagged and my target disappeared from sight. Really nervous now, I quickly doubled back and dove into some nearby brush. I had visual on the bus and could easily if anyone poked out from the front or back end of it. After waiting for a few minutes I decided to work my way around the bus and flank my brother’s murder. I crawled around the bus giving it a wide berth careful not to give my position away. Once I made it to the other side of the bus I began to crawl closer. I could see my brother’s body near the front end of the bus but where his attacker’s body should have been there was nothing. As I moved some brush out of my line of sight I managed to see another body lying motionless near the middle of the bus. I couldn’t help think that I had managed to kill the bandit after all. Deciding to take a more cautious approach I decided to sit put and watch for movement, waiting to make sure that the bandit that killed my brother really was dead. Just as I started to move in closer I noticed movement at the back of the bus. The bandit had attempted to flank me, but finding no one there must have thought I left the area or disconnected. He walked over to the body of my brother and started to loot his corpse. I quickly switched to my grenade and sent it flying. It landed right at the feet of the unsuspecting bandit. However, just as it exploded he had managed to get inside the bus (lag wins again!). He quickly put the bus in revers and started to back out into a field. As he backed up I ran towards him with my AKM on full auto unleashing a torrent of death into the buses windshield. As unloaded on the bandit he quickly put the bus in drive and started towards me. I emptied two clips into the driver of the bus yet he kept coming! Next thing I know I’ve been knocked out and the bus is driving off. As I lay there unconscious all kinds of thoughts raced through my mind, one of which was that I had failed, despite my efforts the server wasn’t on my side that fight. As I waited for the bandit to come finish me off the hourglass faded and I came to. Franticly I looked around for my attacker who was no were to be seen. I then quickly patched myself up and started to search for any signs of the bandit. After finding nothing in the direction the bus had left after running me over, I came back to where my brother’s body lay. I took what was left of his gear and turned towards the field only to see the bus sitting in the middle of it. Caught completely off guard and I went prone immediately. I tried to think of how the bus got way over their when it was heading in a completely different direction. Deciding it must have been due to lag I decided to crawl towards the bus for round two. As I got closer I noticed a figure lying motionless near the front of it. No way could it really be him? I switched to my revolver since I had expended all of my AKM ammo in the firefight and sent some .45 ACP rounds into the skull of the motionless bandit. It looked like he tried to exit the bus after he’d run me over to bandage his wounds, but before he could he must have passed out before he could stop the bleeding and bled out. My jaw hit the floor as I started to loot his corpse; he was loaded to the teeth with some of the best gear I’ve yet to come across. I took what I wanted and loaded the rest onto the bus to start my long drive to the coast to pick up my brother. However my joy was short lived; halfway through my journey southward in my new set of wheels the server crashed and everything I had gained from my fight with the bandit was lost forever….

    What a mess. Amusing stories.

My brother and I were doing a night run on Chernogorsk, are goal was to hopefully find him a better backpack before we started our journey northward. It was one of the darkest nights I’ve experienced in the game. We managed to make our way towards the town with the use of a military flashlight (We both had dropped our chemlights the day before for other loot… It sucks you can’t use the flashlight without losing your pistol). Once we got close enough to the market we heard chatter over the direct communication chat. Then we spotted a light emanating from the windows in the back of the market. We were literally just a few feet away from the back doors. Had they not used the light we would have walked right in on them. We both decided to avoid them and bypass the market altogether and head for the apartment buildings. We didn’t want to risk using our flashlight with others so close, and as a result of stumbling around in the dark we crawled right into a group of Zed’s. We both booked it to the apartments but got separated in the confusion. My brother made it inside one of the buildings while I kept running around outside trying to dodge the horde of Zed’s outside. It was so dark I couldn’t even make out where the doors were. I sprung a few leaks and was losing blood fast. I told him to turn on his flashlight so I could find him. I hoped I would be able to spot his light and make it to the building in time to deploy a wire fence to keep the Zeds at bay. But I couldn’t see the light! My blood was below 7000 I knew I couldn’t take any more hits so I rushed towards the tree line. I just kept running until I passed out from loss of blood. Luckily I managed to lose my pursuers before I went unconscious. Once I came to I quickly bandaged myself with 1000 bp to spare and waited for my bro to come find me. Once he made it out of the city I guided him to my general direction. He switched to his normal flashlight so I could spot him and with a few course corrections he managed to locate me and give me a blood transfusion. Although our supply run was a bust we were both glad to have made it out alive. Next time we’ll make sure at least one of us has some Chemlights when scavenging at night.

I will never be a bandit. Survivor nice-guy stories

With my very first character I remember going to the noob airstrip searching the hangers then hearing a voice call out saying “friendly”. I called back “friendly” and in came a group of four armed to the teeth individuals. They ordered me down (I had nothing, just spawned), took the only bandage I had and then unloaded on me, revived and patched me up, and then they killed me again. I re-spawned on the beach east of the airstrip and started to make my way back only to see a blue van driving towards me. I jumped into a group of bushes but it was too late, they had spotted me. Lo and behold it was the same group of guys who had shot me minutes before. “Not you again” was my response… they started to laugh ordered me to stay down but this time instead of taking what little I had and killing me they loaded my pack with gear, even giving me a 1911 pistol before they left. I later encountered a guy bleeding out he stated he was friendly and asked for assistance. I went up to bandage him and he thanked me by killing me. Every person (well with one exception) that has stated they are “friendly” has proven to be anything but friendly. I’ve tried to play as a friendly but after weeks of the same results I’m thinking of changing my approach when it comes to other survivors. I think from now I’ll shoot first and ask questions later.

    Invisible players

I’ve run into a similar problem… but instead of me being the invisible one it’s the zombies that were invisible. I could hear them but I couldn’t see them anywhere. I started to take damage and still nothing was in sight. When I tried to exit the building I was in I couldn’t because the invisible zombies were blocking the door. I unloaded my weapon in the empty space where the zombies should have been but it didn’t kill them.
  21. My brother has been having that problem. What’s really odd is that we both use the same internet connection. I’ll join a server with no problems but when he attempts to join in he has trouble. It will say "waiting on host" forever or it will say "battleye..." and kick him out. This will also happen to me every now and then when I attempt to join a server he’s playing on. But it rarely happens to me. Also when you look at the list of servers, his list will have servers that mines doesn't and vice-versa. Also the pings are different I’ll see a server listed with a 15 ping and on his computer it shows the same server with a 31/47 or higher ping. Any idea why it does that? I mean it’s the same internet connection…
  22. I agree man I can't count the amount of times I've been hit by a squad packing some heavy heat right out of the spawn.

What time you guys usually play? And what’s the server name? If the ping is good and our play times line up I’d be interested.
