I have a pretty low-end computer. CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+ at 2.2GHz GPU: Radeon HD 4650 with 1024 MB of memory RAM: 3 GB OS: Windows 7 32-bit I can play fine in the wilderness with 30+ FPS, but in cities, it becomes nearly unplayable. I know my specs are really, really bad, but I've heard that some people with even lower specs get the game to work fine. I have everything on the lowest settings as well as the GPU rendered frames ahead set to 1. I'm using this as the startup parameters: -nosplash -mod=@dayz -world=empty -cpucount=2 -exThreads=1 -beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion My resolution is 1360x768. Is there nothing else I can do? If even lower-end computers and make this game playable in cities, I'm sure there's some way to make it work better on my computer as well. Thanks for any help.

If you turn it off, your screen might tear and shatter and you might have to replace the glass in the front :D Nah, jk. Screen tearing is just a term used to describe when the refresh rate of the game is different from the refresh rate of the screen, causing lines to appear and such. It doesn't damage anything and I would suggest turning vsync off for better FPS.

Seriously, what was the point of this thread? Oh, there are hackers in the game. Thanks. I never knew that. Hacks need to be removed? Wow, the devs are gonna be amazed with this news. Join a less populated server. Don't get attached to your gear. And deal with it.

Bombarding you is justified. You quit because you suck at a game. That's stupid. I used to suck. I didn't quit. Maybe I still suck, but at least I know how to play the game now.

Wait wait wait, maybe these admins just don't know that their servers are connected to a hive. At least that's what I really, really hope.

You might just be missing shots. The M1911 has piss poor accuracy.

Six launcher also has a launch commands area. Just click "options" on the lower left and you should be able to input launch commands.

I ran through the small clearing in the forest with an M16A2 in hand and saw what I wanted to see. Two green hangers and a control tower. An airfield. "Balota airfield. What a sight for sore eyes," I thought to myself. The feeling of frustration at reading the map wrong disappeared. I was reoriented. I knew where I was. It felt good to not feel completely lost. But enough of that. I was here to loot. I did my routine check of the forests around the airfield. I didn't want any surprises. I scanned the top of the control tower for movement. Nothing. The zombies didn't seem abnormal. I could see 3 or 4 of them patrolling the runway. All was going to plan. I quickly made my way to the control tower. The most tense part of looting - going up stairs. Having the low ground. It was terrifying every time. What if someone is up there? Waiting for me? I kept thinking these thoughts as I walked up the stairs. Slowly. Carefully. Almost there. And... Nothing. No one in the tower. And no loot. Slightly disappointed, I made my way over to the hangers. I decided to go around the back - less zombies meant less bullets wasted. That is when I began hearing voices. "...Yeah, we were just about to meet up with some of our squad. You can pass on through." Nothing after that. No more voices. I was on the alert now, peeking over every corner with my gun on burst fire mode. After waiting a good five minutes, I make my way into the first hanger. Nothing. No people. No loot. Second hanger... Nothing. Again. It seemed like they left. I decided to look around the small building beside the hangers when I heard shots. Laying prone, I listened. They were coming from the forest north-east of the airfield. I got my gun ready and was about to look around the corner when I heard footsteps. Two pairs of footsteps coming into my area. I aimed down my sights and was ready to shoot. An unarmed man came around the corner, bleeding and hurt. A zombie followed. I let the unarmed man pass and shot the zombie a few times in the body. The man was a bit shaken, but he was alright after I bandaged him up. But of course the question is: who shot the gun? It obviously couldn't be the unarmed man. Then he told me about the group that supposedly left him "safe passage." They apparently shot him in the back. That was what I heard in the hangers. He then told me there was around 8 of them. By now, I was pretty scared. 8, according to him, well armed players in a squad against me, with an M16 and M1911, and an unarmed player. Using the powers of x-ray goggles, (3rd person looking over walls FTW!) I spotted two people in the forest behind the wall. They were pretty far away and under the cover of trees and bushes. I figured I would take a few pot shots at them anyway. I popped my gun around the corner and started spraying in their general direction. I didn't know if I killed any of them, but it seemed like the shots scared them away, as I couldn't see anymore movement in the forest. I didn't bother chasing. There were 8 people, I would have been easily out-gunned. But me and my new friend now had the airfield all to ourselves. After a few minutes, I had to leave and he was still unarmed, so I gave him my M1911 and bid him a farewell. Edit: Wow that looked a lot shorter when I wrote it. Also, this is why you shouldn't shoot unarmed players. :P

Wait, what? You're defending the exploiter because he was out-gunned? Fairly? And you're saying that the 7-person clan should be smarter? Against exploits? Just because they wanted to keep a relatively rare gun? I mean, if I had 7 people backing me up, and we were facing only 1 person, and we had an AS50 at stake, I would take that situation every time. And I would flame the shit out of the person who cheated me out of it. Maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture, because that post seemed slightly idiotic.

Because the anti-cheat system sucks balls. Of course there are still hackers that can circumvent the system. Just look it up on youtube.

How do you knock someone unconscious effectively? And once you do, I thought you couldn't take their gun, only things in their pack? It would be really, really dangerous.

Maybe it's boring to you because all you do is snipe in coastal cities.

Wait, why is carrying around 200 arrows OP when you can carry 200 bullets without a backpack?

Because DayZ is connected to hive servers. Unless you want it so that anything you do on that server won't be saved for the main hive.

As stupid as it sounds, I wanna make sure I'm not accidentally depriving my killer of my gear. Once I get to the "You are dead" screen, I just esc and hit abort, right? Nothing else to it? I've heard you must hit respawn first or something.

People are more often afraid then morally bankrupt. For example, if I see someone first and ask them over direct if they're friendly or not, 70% of the time they reply with friendly. Of course they would. They know I have the advantage and not responding would get them shot. This also works both ways. If someone asks me if I'm friendly, I'm not going to attempt to run away and get a better position without replying. That would probably get me shot. So I reply friendly.

But I highly doubt this would work. Any large clan/organization could easily take you guys out due to your known position and killing pattern. Just sayin.

You know what you can do? Just send down people with M1911's or Winchesters first as bait. Keep anyone with good weapons in the forest, waiting for the signal to go. Once someone in town gets shot, the people in the forest can pinpoint the shooter's location and take them out. The only thing lost was an M1911 or Winchester, which isn't a big loss. Just speculation.

Oh, you didn't suggest that it would have to give blood. I just assumed you meant that because being dead would mean 0 blood. I guess bloodbags would work though. Regardless, people seem to think a defibrillator starts a stopped heart, which it does not do.

A defibrillator wouldn't work. They aren't realistic enough. Bandages stop bleeding wounds in real life. Bandages --> Stop bleeding. Somewhat realistic. A defibrillator restarts the heart in case of an unnatural heart beat. It does NOT restart a heart that has already stopped, nor does it give blood to a victim with little blood. Defibrillator -/-> Restart heart. Defibrillator -/-> Give blood. Not realistic at all. In other words, it would be completely unrealistic instead of reasonably realistic, like bandages.

Maybe I'm new to the game and I've just been lucky. Maybe I'm sticking with a relatively nice server. Maybe it's because appearing to be alone makes you look like less of a threat. But I haven't been KOS by a whole lot of people, and I don't KOS either. Although I've died to people more then zombies, I've met more friendlies then enemies. And these aren't some guys with hatchets or anything. Some guy with an M4 asked if I was friendly when he could have easily killed me and taken my DMR. I was down 5000 blood with an M16 and a guy with a winchester decided not to shoot me and take the better gun. He even gave me some beans. I'm not saying the majority of the servers are nice. I am playing on a server with global chat on. But if you are getting killed on sight too much, maybe you should consider switching to a nicer server or something. Or maybe I'm just new to the game and I've been lucky. I dunno. I just haven't seen the level of PvP everyone has been complaining about yet.
