    Melee Weapon Petition

    The melee just needs to be difficult enough that you won't choose it over a gun or as allready suggested, runs out of durability if used too much
  2. Don't know how much of a futuristic dream that is, but last time i thought how awesome it would be, if the whole setting was put into another enviroment. The most different and probably interesting place, would be a city. Skycrapers, streets with streetsigns, barely any nature. Sure, it would be easier to navigate, but thanks to skyscrapers the whole movement would shift into narrow places and vertical areas instead of widespread woods and similar. Since it would have way more going on heightwise, it wouldn't need to be as big as the original island itself.

    I can only talk out of my ass here, since i have absolutely no clue about modding or mapmaking in arma. I stick to the creative thinking and leave the technical stuff to others :)

    I'm talking about only a city. The cities that are on this map are not really big cities and the whole skyscraper with several levels are also not in there. I mean to focus the gameplay on the inside of buildings, since currently a lot of the buildings only have few rooms or are not enterable at all. Also this should by no means REPLACE the current map, just some servers that run other ones. The goal is to make the gameplay different just by putting the people in another kind of enviroment...new rules, new dangers, new focus. Also since probably most of us can relate more to big cities than the countryside of an island like the one we currently have, would surely be interesting, since it touches more to home, so to speak.

    Yeah, thought of that, but i guess if there is allready a melee feature working with guns, you could as well just put in any weapon for it.

    Yes. It is not about shooting pixels, it's not the morality issue about killing someone, it's the morality issue of "Do i want to waste that other guys last hours of playtime and probably take away that persons fun, if he is one of those "Taking the game too serious" type of guys. I don't care if i die, i almost never find any good gear anyway, but that's just me.

    Dogs: Discussion

    If every player gets one at the spawn, i'm against it. If you have to find one, then it won't matter to me, cause I'd need to have a dog to find a dog first -> I am so crappy at finding special stuff in this game ^^ On a sidenote: If that dog has too big awareness radius, it would be too overpowered in the hands of bandits, cause right now my best chance of surviving, since i barely get higher geared weapons, is sneaking and if that dog can find me proning in a bush, waiting that the hostile player moves away, I'm pretty much fucked all the time
  9. I love the barn where you can go up some wooden stairs on both sides. Even if they glitch through the walls or manage to get through the door, they still take forever to get up the stairs, so plenty of time to aim for a nice headshot
  10. Hi, two questions here: 1.) Those closets you sometimes find in rooms are transparent for me and i guess the reason for this is the same reason why some other graphic parts look wrong. Any idea which setting is the one causing this? 2.) since the new patch i sometimes see the message "CBA_Main missing" or similar. I know CBA is the community base patch, but don't think it is needed for this. Should i ignore that message or am i missing something? Thanks in advance
  11. 1) was just thinking since i got a lot of texture popups and tree leaves look strange in general (kind of a constant moving and jerky look to them) that this might be related 2) Thanks, good to know.

    Every community sadly works that way. People try to force their playstyle or ideas of how the game should be played on others, playing ideas down or comparing it to cheating. The big responsibility for the devs is to figure out themselves what is good for the game, without listening too much, or else you get the usual MMORPG Nerfpatches, followed by waves of complaints, til they patch the values back up and so on and on...

    too dark at night

    Don't compare with reality, cause the night I see in the game, is 100% darker than the nights i see in reality. Even if i wasn't someone with very good nightsight (probably cause I'm colorblind, at least thats what i read somewhere), it still doesn't compare to a realistic darkness. And i disagree here too. I repeat myself constantly on that topic, but there are graphic cards/settings/screens out there, that seem to handle the nights pretty shitty, which makes it a necessity to crank up the sliders. So if you judge the people that have to do it, then with that logic to me everyone who can play the game at max settings, full viewing distance and has a screen that produces more grayscales than mine, is a cheater. I'm not against hard gameplay and dark nights, but in my opinion the nights are wayyyy too dark. i should at least be able to see if i run right into a zombie. With my current pc i only see a zombie attacking me, when i get hit and have to use the muzzleflash to find out from where, cause even up close i can't make them out in the darkness WITH FULLY TURNED UP SLIDERS. Games where the moon is up are the perfect setting from my experience. I can make stuff out thats in my closer range and still have to use lightsources. The idea with the matches is also great, since i felt pretty annoyed when i ran out of flares, had a set of matches in my inventory and couldn't do anything other than logging out...or the idea thats discussed in another topic: random lightsources thrown into the world. Then at least there would be some lighting point of interests in the darkness which you can use to navigate and still got the challenge in between.

    I love playing in the night....as long as i have flares. I never found anything other than flares and a chemlight once and even with FULL gamma and brightness it is impossible for me to navigate when my flares run out, either cause of my graphic settings/card or my monitor, no idea, so i just have fun with them til I'm down to zero, then it's logout time til i can play in the daylight again... :/

    Yes! The point would still be that guns are more effective and dangerous. You know "who brings a knife to a gunfight", so if you rationize your ammo and try to find more, you still have a better way of surviving and just IF you can kill 1 zombie, doesn't mean you should be able to kill 2 easily. so i support melee weapons, but they should still be dangerous and difficult to use

    Date/Time: 01:41, 2012-05-16 What happened: Crawled (prone) through a doorway, broke my legs, went unconcious, started to bleed and had a lot of pain effect going on Where you were: somewhere in elektro What you were doing: Crawling through an open doorway *Current installed version: 1.5.7 *Server(s) you were on: I never really look, take what i can get *Your system specs: Not relevant *Timeline of events before/after error: exploring and looting for about half an hour, then logged out after i got away to a safer place (i was prone, cause i heard gunshots nearby, but those weren't the reason, cause they came from another side of a house and even after i sticked around to heal myself, i did not encounter anyone)

    After playing, i can still support my former statement: Zombie count is ok, respawn should be adjusted, small villages should have a high chance of lower zombie population, since it also has lower reward of good loot. Also i feel that Zombies during the day have way too high attention. I sneak and stay close to cover, but they still got me a lot of times, even when i try to distract them with throwing stuff in another direction first (which they barely went after too) Currently nighttime with full moon, or dusk/dawn seems to be a lot more fun to play

    Way to distinguish friendlies

    Well, sure you recognize people you know by their face, but strangers get mostly categorized by some simpler features. "He wears glasses" "He's the one with black hair" "Mustache guy" and so on, so yeah, if there is a simple concept needed, then go for skinchanges.
