  1. so global chat is the same as side chat regarding that change? And does it only affect actualy microphone usage, or text also? Since Direct Chat is kinda vague, which channel is the best to use for the usual "Friendly?" PS: Only taking about written chat, i can't understand what 90% of the people are saying, since voiceconnection seems to be to low for me most of the time
  2. i for one would support a total ban of nametags, unrelated to the difficulty the server chooses, but that may be just me. I love sneaking and I'd say I'm good at it, but that doesn't help if even a blind man can spot me cause of my nametags

  4. Just look at the difficulty on the server list. As allready said: Regular means nametag mode. As for recognizing people. Go to your main menu, edit your profile and choose a face that is different from the default one. Full beards, old guys, black guys, asian guys, they all are a lot easier to recognize. For added help just slap on some glasses too. Since i found that out I'm just: "Friendly, I'm the asian guy with the sunglasses"

    What was your dumbest death?

    My dumbest deads usually include either bugs or running into a zombie at night with bad equipment. I also know a stupid death for a bandit that sniped 2 of my teammates in the quarry, not knowing that i was on overwatch across from him and even if we lost the two on the ground, i avenged them with a nicely aimed headshot. At least they didn't have any good equipment, while i was able to grab the bandits stuff afterwards :)

    Oh so that was it. One time i was bleeding out cause of hunger and i absolutely did not find any loot to get some food. Also the zombies seemed to have been missing, but i thought it may just have been a coincidence that someone just raided and killed everything in the two settlements i searched.

    I would consider thrown weapons as the overpowered solution so many seem to be worried about. With melee you still have to get close enough to take damage, while a thrown weapon would just be similar to a 1 shot gun
  10. --------------- -> Intro/Scenario: --------------- Last time i almost died cause of the prone-breaks-legs bug i ended up without food. I don't care about dying in this game, but if a bug causes it, i get slightly annoyed (and yeah, i know it is an alpha, i don't blame the devs). So after i got my blood level to at least black and white screen status, i had to log off for the night and of course next time i logged in, i had the dreaded flashing food meter. I got that pronebug in the middle of the woods, so there was not much to loot and afterwards i didn't find anything either and landing on a server with absolutely no zombies and lootspawn, didn't help me much either cause i lost a lot more blood til i found out that this server was buggy. I was in the middle of the woods, bleeding out cause my lack of food, all the while with two raw steaks in my backpack, but no matches. Optional suggestion: I'd say almost every person knows how to make fire with sticks and leaves, but the uselessness of matches isn't my main point here. ------------------------- -> Now to the main topic: ------------------------- Why can't we eat raw meat, even if it is only to get the flashing foodmeter to a stable red or yellow or whatever the stages are? I would even accept if we get a puke interruption similar to the fainting, where we can't move and possibly make loud noises around us, for some time afterwards. Even if unhealthy, some uncooked fresh meat wouldn't kill and still feed us, especially an option if you are about to die of hunger. --- Optional add on --- Cannibalism. It's in a lot of postapocalyptic settings and would fit nice with the whole bandit and humanity theme. If there are also fitting skins for some savage cannibals, it would be hell of an interesting and creepy addition to the athmosphere.

    Color-blind friendly GUI icons

    Having the green-red problem myself (and no, that doesn't mean we can't see those colours, it just is harder to distinct some of the different mixed colour layers like some green-brown-red tones, blue-purple and such) i totally support that. I don't know what others there are instead of the green-red which seems to be the most common, but making the colours more vibrant or rely on other main colours would possibly help out. I personally could possibly work with Blue for full, bright yellow for half and dark red for empty. The best case scenario would be of course numbers or different symbols of course. Edit: since alpha layers don't work on the UI, couldn't it work if you for example replace the "empty" part of a meter with black to trick the engine? Not needed that it is transparent

    Melee Weapon Petition

    Your list was great til you interpreted them into 3 points. no 1: this reason was mentioned because it is dumb, not because it is hard. People complained that they think it's stupid to have to run away from zombies with no means of defending them. I mean i know that i could outrun them in the proper enviroment, at least if i get to a building, but instead of playing catch, i'd rather risk using a melee weapon and die fighting, instead of die out of boredom, cause my only option is to run away. no 2. Again..barely anyone talked about difficulty when they wrote about why they wish melee weapons. I myself just want options. Sure i can try to sneak around one lonely zombie, standing in the way of a building i want to check out, or distract them with throwing something, but again, it's about choices. I sneak and run around alot in this game anyway, so it would be a change of pace if i have some weapon that i could swing at that zombie. no 3. That reason is valid, even if you coat it with forced flavor through your chosen description ('swinging shit at zombies'). This mod is intended to simulate a zombie-apocalyptic enviroment. ARMA 2 is a lot about simulated realism itself and melee weapons would be a lot more realistic than some of the weapons our characters can find Note: I am not talking about realitic, i am talking about simulated realism, since it is still a game. I personally (and I'm not speaking for others who support this idea) want as much features in this as possible, since it is labeled a simulation. I don't even care if some things are usefull or not. Let my character find a blade and shave, gather berries for minor foodboost, take a shit in the woods or whatever. I just ask for more options and stuff to do. I know it is alpha, so i can not know what we will get in the future and currently i get a hell out of fun out of this mod, but if it would stay that way, with nothing more added, i know that it would get stale after a while, since besides shooting, looting and sneaking you can't do much.

    Are you kidding me? The rocket launcher is ONE OF THE RAREST TIER WEAPONS IN THE GAME. It also doesn't even work against people Having baseball bats' date=' golf clubs, and swords lying around that can silently take out zombies and use NO AMMO = overpowered [/quote'] wooden sticks, lead pipes and knives would be totally enough and there were ideas tossed around how to limit them, either through the mentioned stamina bar, or durability that wears out

    Your last bullet WAS your last resort. Conserve your ammo and you are usually fine. The only thing that melee weapons will bring to the table is to make the game easier. You can argue that in a particular scenario it might be useful or it would be more realistic if you could pick up a crowbar as a last resort' date=' but the upshot of any type of melee weapon added is that the game becomes easier, even if only a little bit. Dead_Zombie said it really well. ^^^ commodity that runs out and you're fucked? We allready have that with blood and food/water. Regarding the easier part: So be it. There is still enough danger, you still have to find melee weapons first (Same as with finding very strong weapons, a matter of luck) and I personally don't want a 1 hit kill melee system. I want one where you think twice if you should run or if you use it and probably even use it up, if it has durability. It is a matter of choices, not difficulty, plus since there is no melee system yet, we can't say how much impact it would have on the difficulty. Also consider this: If there was allready a melee system in the game, before it went public, then no one would complain about the game getting easier...no one complains (or if there is something on the board, not many complain) about Night vision goggles, even if they give you a huge advantage when playing in the night, cause they were allready in the game from the start. So in conclusion: If melee weapons are such overpowered gamebreaking things, then let's take out all weapons except pistols, cause they have a lot more advantage than a crappy stick

    it's good for taking out singled out zombies standing in your way which you could otherwise not kill without alerting a horde (in comparison to the "3 zombies running after you" situation, that one isn't alerted allready) or when you run out of ammo and would have no choice than to just run or die. With melee you would still have a chance of doing something else, even if the chances are slim. We can't talk about abusing a feature, when it's not even done yet. It needs a good balancing and an idea to see how it would work first.

    first off, if 3 zombies are running after you, they would attract more zombies through their screaming. second as i wrote before, 3 zombies with melee should allready be a problem and third many people here suggested that melee weapons lose durability if you use them too often. That wouldn't be the point. The point is to have a last resort kind of defense when you run out of ammo, not to have a uberhaxoroneshotkill instrument

    Ruining ARMA 2?

    while your points seem legit, saying that it ruins arma 2 is stupid. If you want Arma 2, then just ignore the Day Z servers. Those people you describe probably won't ever touch anything else than Day Z anyway, since they bought arma for it.
