    Standalone FPSMMO?

How can The War Z be a rip-off when they started development before DayZ emerged? My thoughts exactly. I used to play All Points Bulletin (and after it went down and resurrected as APB: Reloaded) and they had 50-80 players per instance. The original APB team never referred to it as an MMO, because of that fact. They simply referred to it as a persistent game. That is - your character persists across instances. (And in DayZ's reference, across servers.)
  2. As the title says, a hacker teleported everyone in the server to the ocean... I've been swimming for what seems like ages, but it doesn't feel like I've made any progress in my journey to dry land. I don't have broken legs, so I can't respawn. What are my options here? Do I just leave the game on overnight with my W key stuck down? Can a DayZ Dev team member change my coordinates in the database, or just force me to respawn [player ID: 9606214]? (I was a very fresh spawn right before being teleported anyways.) Any benevolent hackers out there willing to help me get back to shore, or just kill me? (I hate to ask, but I know it's a possibility.) Or, am I just out of luck?

    economy in Day-Z?

Actually, the US economy isn't backed by gold... and many other economies are the same way. Money is valuable because it can be traded for something of value. People see gold as valuable because it's rare, it's shiny, and it doesn't rust. There is no other value to it. Food is valuable. But, it's useless to carry around barrels of food. It would be better to carry around things that can be traded for food. So, it mostly depends on what people will accept as payment. If a resource is accepted by a lot of people to trade for other things, it is possible for it to become a currency. (Cans of beans, for example, could become a currency, if it were easier to carry them around.)

    Building bases and millitary transport.

Perhaps even a plane that can also perform a water landing. That would be useful.

    Where to start looting?

Deer stands. Only 2 loot spots, but they're considered military buildings, so they can spawn almost anything you can find in a hangar/air control tower/fire station.
  6. Furball, I'm posting here since I tried PM'ing you and it says you can't get any more messages: Hey there, I noticed you run the operations for HFB servers. I'm in need of an ArmA2 OA server - but not a DayZ server. It would be a small (16 slot) private server to be used by a group that does squad-based rescues in DayZ. We just need the server for practicing our tactics outside of DayZ. (If you're a redditor, the group is called Reddit Rescue Rangers and works closely with the Reddit Rescue Force). The server would not be constantly used, but it will be used several times a week when training. Most of the time, it will be empty. I don't want to go to a big box server provider, because ArmA2 servers are expensive. We just need something small but reliable. I am familiar with Linux (my day job is 75% Linux), and it could be a Linux server if necessary. I was hoping you could give me a quote on what something like this would cost from you, since your website is "down for maintenance." Thanks
