The game isn't for everyone, simple as that. And it won't be dumbed down or made casual either so forget it.

It's a hilarious that people think that their own isolated experience represents anywhere near a significant part of the game's ever growing player base. Bottom line is this game isn't for everyone, sounds like you friend is of those people. The game doesn't need to be made easier in any way, in fact it needs to be harder if anything.

It's funny how the OPs of posts like this say the know it's alpha BUT, and immediately show they don't know or care it's alpha.

What fun is that? Not being able to see damn thing in front of you? Unless you use the flashlight that everyone can see from miles around through building walls? Is the fun you are talking about? Don't use terms that you obviously know nothing about.

DayZ standalone introduces much more complicated hunger and thirst mechanics compared to the mod. Instead of your hunger and thirst being satisfied as soon as you eat or drink anything, each type of food and drink restores varying amounts of energy and can add or remove water. Additionally, your stomach can only hold a limited amount of food and water. ExamplesWhen you eat a box of cereal, it restores around 1000 energy, and drains 250 water. Eating sardines only restores 333 energy, but adds close to 100 water. Drinking a can of soda restores a bit less than 150 energy and adds over 300 water, while drinking from a canteen doesn't give any energy, but adds 1000 water. EffectsWhen you have less than 100 energy, you start losing health and blood. However, when you have a ton of energy and plenty of water (3500 and 3000 respectively), you start regenerating blood. Once your blood is refilled, you regenerate health instead. Dehydration is much more dangerous than starvation: you lose five times as much health and twice as much blood. Once you accumulate a water deficit, it can be difficult to recover from it if you wait too long. Status MessagesWhile they don't tell you exactly what's going on with your character, the status messages that pop up can still help you figure out what you need to get yourself healthy again. Keep in mind that there are other effects that share some of the same messages, so this is by no means a conclusive way of diagnosing yourself. The hunger/thirst in this game isn't hard to manage at all once you figure it out, if anything it needs to be more difficult.

So because you yourself state that you have been killed as a freshpawn on the coast by people with M4s, that's proof that it's that bad across most or all of the servers? If I apply your logic to my own experience then I can say your wrong because I've never been killed as a freshspawn on the coast by anyone with an M4. The devs put the barracks & jail in Balota because they wanted to, I thought you were in favor of the devs making the game the way they wanted, as you said it's THEIR game, or is that only if it suits your views & wants?

You're over-exaggerating, and there's nothing to stop them from gearing up at one of the nearby military bases or the NWAF and coming to the coast and camping people. In fact the military loot at Balota now gives new spawns a chance to better defend themselves.

You were saying bleeding is op, but it's not at all.

The whole point is moot because everyone can use the gamma/brightness sliders, and only a very small minority like to play in the dark, why do you think night servers have always been empty or low populated? Nothing like this will be implemented.
