Well, here in Russia firemen are part of a para-military organization complete with ranks and military style uniforms. No weapons though. I like to think then when shit hit the fan in Cherno, military moved into the cities and it made sense to use fire stations as temp bases (police stations would make more sense but apparently there are none in Chernorus). -
No problem adapting here. The problem is that I have been enjoying dayz for it's milsim roots, when like getting close to a player with a gun, any gun was lethal. Even a noob with pre-beta makarov could drop you w/o reloading, so the sense of paranoia and danger never left you.

This is not fracking CS, in real military soldiers are taught to shoot center-mass, which I believe would apply to inexperienced civilians even more. Headshots are for arcady FPS. A full clip of 9mm yet alone .45 should drop anyone not wearing armor.

This is supposed to be a mil simulator not some cod bullshit, one AK bullet to the body should at least disable the person. And dayz fix is simple - just reduce player and zed blood proportionally to nerfs. -
Well, looks like 1911 is the new Makarov! And I do not understand why AKs were nerfed, now they are below the m16 variants >:(

I recently broke my legs while proning onto a sloped ramp at the train platform in Solnichny. Kinda funny, I think actually some kind of random events like that should stay in the game... it's entirely possible to misstep and twist your ankle Irl.

I'm starting to think some people just lack imagination to create an adventure for themselves in this beautiful open dangerous world. They require either retarded quest markers or quick PvP action.

Again +1 for removing respawn. ppl like that are a cause of server lag, as rocket said setting a new character is the most cpu/ram intensive operation and some of you assholes do it dozens of times to cheat initial lone survival phase. so you can casually shoot zeds with your buddies. Here is a solution for you: Day1 you all log in and agree on the meeting spot, run there, log out. Day2 - you all log-in and start at the same spot! Just like you wanted! And do not die again.

Exactly, and this is why the only proper solution is server side and this is what Rocket and team are doing - data-mining to establish "bad" patterns, giving different weights to "bad" actions then he will use statistical analysis algorithms to ban abusers. This is similar to spam filtering algorithms.

Just want to note that m14 is not really a sniper, it does not have magnified optics and can't reliably hit targets at true sniper ranges (700+ m). The best combo is m14 and DMR (proper sniper) as they share the same powerful mags. I do wish for a proper full auto assault rifle /smg when in cqq. I particularity like ak-74u, for some reason I'm much more accurate with it's iron sights then with any other AK

They need to remove extreme angles in 3dp freelook. I admit to sometimes using it to position myself, because as we all know Arma's collision detection can be hazardous to your skeletal health.

I agree this simulation requires a level of time commitment, there are casual flash games for time like this.

I understand what you are saying but can't agree with it. According to you the game has "fun" parts - shooting zombies/players with your group and "boring" parts - running alone through hostile areas. You want to be able to skip the "boring" parts and get straight to having fun. But the "boring" part is as much part of the survival simulation. This is a slippery slope, what next - autofill canteens with water when you are near wells/ponds? Auto-cook meat when you have required tools in your inventory? All these boring, unnecessary actions just steal your quality time. Maybe you want checkpoints too, to return to the last checkpoint before you died?

Surviving long enough to meet up with you friends is part of the challenge created by the core game mechanics. You are trying to circumvent it by re-spawn spamming and in the process generating load on the server/hive. This is not the kind of casual game you jump in to have quick fun with you buddies, it's a brutal survival simulator. There are other games for ppl like you, infact most are like these with "awesome" time-saving feature like teleport spells, and NPCs giving directions and magic quest markers always pointing to the direction you must go, all so you do not lose your precious time doing "boring" stuff, like you know fighting the environment and hostile players so you can meet you friend and increase your survival chance. You have all these games, why trying to ruing one game for the rest of us?

Well, you will not be able to do this anymore. You are generating server load by trying to give yourself an advantage.

Thanks for this, these two points are exactly what I have been thinking. Rocket, please give us *tools* to build a better game. To enable deeper game mechanics, and stop being stuck in some sort of Battle Royale Groundhog day we urgently require some form of identification, either through appearance like being able to customize your char more + appearance changing through interacting with the environment (beards, scars) or if it's not possible due to engine limitation then through automatic identification, but only at very close range or when looking through binoculars/scope for set period of time. In lawless societies alternative forms of justice emerge, could be vigilantism or justice administered by quasi-government entities, but the total anonymity in the simulation won't allow this atm. The second issue is that we are stuck in an illiterate society which with global chat disabled makes it really hard to self-organize. We need to be able to have player created dairies, notes , message boards if Rocket wants to give us some chance to re-establish pockets of civilization.

Lee, it's one of the best weapons in game, period. Great iron sights, bullets fly straight to 600m as if it was a railgun. For zeds even makarov works great.

A good tutorial on using environment to camo yourself, it's in Russian but with pictures. The pictures on the left are "correct" positioning, on the right - "incorrect" in the same situation. When I get stuck like this I role play till the end, just to complete the story, to see how the story of my death ends. Last zeds broke my legs in Stary near the supermarket at night, I was determined to crawl across the map, but it ended at the nearest intersection as I unloaded last two AKM clips into the Horde.
