Are you high? You have the largest map you can even dream of right now. Most players have yet to go north of Mogilevka, or if they do it's to the Airfield. 1500........................... :@ I'm seriously mad at you for coming up with that number.

These missions are amazing. But you need friends. I have played as the Dog in the second one... pretty fun. Also do not use ACE with these........... you will die and fast. -

ACE might scare away the noobs. Besides, I've asked Rocket about it and he said he will only put stuff in that meets his specific requirements for game function. I mean ACE has literally everything, but it can lag a lot when you start putting in too much. Land mines......... good god land mines destroy servers. I made a massive mission on Sangin with tons of land mines and IEDs, it took like 5 revisions just to get 8 guys to not crash on load. But I do love that grenade on a stick that has a trip wire. I so do want my IEDs or at least satchels for Day Z. -
How do you get rid of custom sound bites or face skins? They take up almost nothing. You can only have 10 sound bites and they have to be less than 50kb and they play through the radio so it's not like it's special.

Vanilla has like zero ballistics drop for rockets. I remember trying to compensate in a non-ACE domination server for an RPG (actually a clip of that in the second link on my sig [i'm the one asking if there is backblast in Vanilla]). Anyway I compensated and the rocket flew to the moon............. so I pointed directly at the tank with the next rocket and I was like 300m away and it went straight. -
Is it gonna boot us to the coast and wipe out people's stuff again?

The AT4 is basically a western RPG but much better. More effective and better accuracy but still cheap and easy to carry. It's a rocket launcher for fun and I think noobs would be more confused by the assortment of rockets that are available for the RPG-7 line anyway (this may be an ACE thing). Anyway, it's not like there are Dragon II or Javelins. If you wanna carry an AT4 instead of something more important then have at it. Actually, I think Dragons would be awesome. Wire-guided is easily my favorite guidance system. AT4 would be great for taking out a Helo. -
Would be more impressive if they were survivors.

This is all in it's infancy. I certainly see trade posts if not safe zones in the future. There are more than enough people looking to do this. My group is already building FOBs on two servers and we plan to extend generosity and safety to lone survivors or bandits.

The Day Z textures come from PMC (for survivors anyway) so you won't see a change until you buy that.

All my time in the Marine Corps I was never happy with NVGs. The ones in games are too clear. You don't have to be blind at 500 ft, but at least make picking out people more difficult......... much more so, movement yes you can see a bit, but defined shapes at pretty much 1 km.......... come on. I would just like to have the chance to see dusk or dawn which are really beautiful times in ArmA. Noon and Midnight get really boring. I log in around 6pm PDT so I might get like 2 hours of game time (on a PDT server) before it's dark and it's always raining so no, I'm not seeing dusk. If I can't get on a PDT server guess what............. Hello Darkness My Old Friend It gets old, so I am in favor of the 12 hour cycle. -

The fact that this thread even exists means that people are battling with these decisions and the game's impact on people is indeed real. People can poke fun or disregard these stories all they want, but that does nothing to remove them. I haven't had to make any harsh decisions or hunted anyone yet, but I have found myself hesitating only to be shot over a revolver or beans. But the thing is that too, my killers almost always hesitated, there is a decision process. Unlike Call of Duty or BF3, you don't have uniforms that automatically make you a friend or foe.......... even the Bandit skin doesn't always mean a foe, they could have just pulled the trigger one too many times on survivors they were scared of. In later stages of development and greater stability, I have no doubt that we can begin to build societies on servers....... if we so choose. My group will most likely try this since Summer is approaching and we have the time. Some will flock to society, others will raid it or perhaps even try to destroy it through conquest. There really is a story to Day Z, and we do indeed write it for ourselves. Every story is valid, whether it be the guy who was trying to be a doctor giving transfusions in Cherno, or the Bandit on the beach who kills just for the blood. I have enjoyed reading this thread, and I don't think the comments saying that "it's just a game" or "you are playing too seriously" are any less valid than those writing full pages about the emotions they are having. This mod is allowing us to examine a wide variety of human interaction and I find that very intriguing. -
Make NVGs look like shit. They look like shit in real life so make them look like shit in the game. This is one thing that I wish ACE would've addressed but they never did. NVGs are too good in this game when really I shouldn't be able to see more than 200ft and at that range it still sucks ass. I don't really know how this can be addressed, but the Predator Mod gave you different modes of vision and some of them looked like shit so you just used the NVG mode. Add some grain to it or saturate the hell out of it so lights from 1000m blind you. Edit: But to be fair, the day I find NVGs is the day I log off and hop on the darkest most empty server available and loot the fuck out of it. NVGs are indeed the biggest carrot.

We already have dogs that have been used in Chernarus Apocalypse Mission #2 (player plays as the dog) and we have the EOD mod with the bomb sniffer dog. Dogs are already well tested by the community (the real one that makes shit). Seems to me like this would be much easier to implement and Rocket could ask for help/tips from previous modders to get it to work. Which sounds more promising than say............... "crafting" which to my knowledge hasn't been done. Dogs have worked before, and worked well, I'm sure we'll have like 3 per server that spawn at any given time thus making this idea of having dogs everywhere highly unlikely. I doubt Rocket would do something like that since you know, he genuinely cares about this.

Seriously? TKJ Some bandit said killing noobs was "GOD's work", I thought it was funny, this is the flip side of the coin. Why does this game have so many idiots? Because there are too many people and too many of them take themselves too seriously and because of it they take the comments of others too seriously. It's a mod in alpha that is full of wigged out people who are experiencing a system shock because they've never played a game like this before. -

Rocket has talked about adding in possible "cleared" zones in later releases. This could be one way to perma clear a zone, and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh what add anti-radiation medicine and gas masks (in ACE) for traversing these zones? Just an idea, probably will never happen. Oh yeah, there are nukes in ACE.
