Leveling up is gay and doesn't belong in ArmA. You already have the tools to be a medic or a marksman, or a hunter, or a pro scavenger or a zombie hunter or a builder or whatever. The tools are already there for you to pick a role and change whenever you want to. The problem is that the game is overrun with individuals. I rarely see groups of more than 2 or 3 and we will never create a society or be able to isolate character types until people actually start playing like they can be something more than an individual. The only reason my group hasn't really tried to make a big FOB or take over an area and make it a safe zone is because it's still really early in development and hell most of us died on the AF over the weekend and half our tents have vanished by now. I don't know why you need special abilities or leveling up bonuses when just doing the act should be enough. You want an XP counter? You have one, it tells you what day your character is on when you log in. Days spent alive is the only measure of success in Day Z. That is until a clear break between the civilized, the undead and the social outcasts is made. Only more burdens and fewer resources will drive us to this end.

I'll admit it, if I aggro too many zombies and I'm out of ammo then I'll just say screw it and DC, but I'll fight until I'm totally empty. I've never ran from a player though, that's really the most fun I have in the game. I've only DC'd like twice from Zombies, once because I just got bored shooting them on top of the hospital in Berezino and the other time in the fire station tower in Elektro when I ran out of ammo....... it was last night and karma got me like 3 minutes later when I joined a new server. Server hopping, sure have done it a couple times and karma has gotten me every time. So I should probably just stop. I'd be cool with a sort of timer for DC. But it would have to protect against "session lost". Had that like 5 times yesterday. I remember they tried something similar in End War because DCing was a massive problem for people and assholes would use it as an exploit. The solution was to start killing units in your barracks so if you were a routine DCer, you were stuck with shit units. Saddly, this broke the game for me because I hadn't figured out NAT settings on my XBox so I would lose connections a lot of the time and I ended up with shit units too. Btw, End War is a terrible game. I actually think I'm more in favor of a "15 Minute Cool Down". Yeah people will still bitch because they didn't get the loot from a dead body, but 15 minutes is a pretty steep penalty and it would make me think twice about DCing.

I've been fucking around in Cherno and Elektro since that's where I've been spawning. It's like the fucking wild west there. I've never been because I've just been sensible and gone inland. I've shot 2 bandits and 3 survivors tonight. One survivor ran from my bullets right off the roof of an office building in Cherno........... thanks for the beans. Btw, I've died repeatedly. I was waiting on loot spawns in the Firehouse in Elektro when I walk my happy ass down stairs, oh hi Mr. bandit, 3 to the chest and down he goes. He had some nice starter gear including a map, compass and watch and a CZ as well as precious 1911 mags. But just as I'm about to get done organizing my new loot, there it is, another survivor in the side door, he freaks, shoots at me, I shoot at him, we both die. Cherno and Elektro are too hardcore for me. Yeah, I know people talk about how smart guys go up north (hell I do) but staying in Cherno and Elektro is like living in a bad movie about some terrible neighborhood. You can always hear gun shots, all that's missing is some raging car fires and sirens. Oh yeah, got my 3rd death to zombies finally. Fingers crossed for a Solnichni spawn.

I think the ultimate goal is to kill all of us. And this is fine. It's not about having uber loot, it's about surviving, people are losing sight of that. I would agree. Lost tons of loot last night and you really are scared to lose your stuff, especially in my case where other players were to be the recipients of that gear. As soon as I spawned on the beach I started shooting at another guy with my Makarov just of kicks. The Makarov brings freedom. Every new bit of kit adds paranoia.
