stuck at loading screen after character creation.
fuzzy4ever replied to bloodshakels's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
From what it sounds like (and based on other threads) it seems like the hive is lagging very badly. Really can do nothing but wait it out. Although have you tried connecting to other servers? -
I believe the ATI HD7470 is a laptop video card. Correct me if I'm wrong. If so, I believe that's the Radeon HD7470M (M meaning mobile) and is a very very low quality video card. With laptops, I don't know of any way to swap out the video card as they are typically built into the motherboard. The only way to reduce the choppiness without have to buy desktop/laptop (I'd recommend desktop) that has a better video card is to low every single setting to "Disabled" or "Very Low". However don't reduce "Video Memory" to disabled, put that at Default.
-
What is the clock speed of your Intel Pentium D? Also your video cards are very out dated. If you check http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html it shows them getting 985 points. My 5770 has 1695 points and I run the game on lowest settings, getting 30-60 fps (depending on server)

Do you have a firewall on your computer, whether it be a windows firewall or another program?

Battleye Kicked Ping too high 110ms...
fuzzy4ever replied to Problem?'s topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What about other servers? Try finding a server that has 110+ ping and joining it. If you can, it's the server's problem. -
It's not. It's just server spam (and I'm not sure why it's there...) It's not telling away your position or anything, seems to be there to make the game seem more realistic I suppose as if your CO was asking for your position to stay updated on strategy. Don't worry about it though, nobody else sees it.

stuck at loading screen after character creation.
fuzzy4ever replied to bloodshakels's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Does the "Loading" screen have a bar above the word "loading", or is it blank? -
@Signature - Pretty sure scripts are already server-side. I've heard a lot of scripters mention how they forced the server to spawn the items, instead of doing it client side. @OP - Are you in an easy to find place? I could run over to you and try to kill you. Otherwise your best bet is to either stay logged in and hope to starve to death, hope someone else comes across you and this time death prevails, or to use a non-hive server until a mod resets your player.
-
"Loading" with a bar is an incompatibility of versions. Loading WITHOUT a bar is lag. Try another server or wait out the lag. Could also be the hive being laggy as well which can't be fixed. Just have to wait for that one.

Run into a pack of zombies, let them kill you. Abort > rejoin > you should have your old character back.

What's your video card/CPU?

I had this problem as well but it ended up fixing itself. From what you can do to find a server, I believe the issue is caused by a Domain Name Resolution server, since you can use the IP to connect but not the name. For the time being I did what Drogur said and used http://arma2.swec.se/server/list to find the IP of the server. I'll give you the step by step. Since you say you've found the direct connect button, I'll start from there and use my server as an example (US 1468) 1) Search for "1468" in the filter at http://arma2.swec.se/server/list to find DayZ - US 1468 2) Click on the server's name and a list of things will show up. 3) Next to address, copy the list of numbers that look's like this: 23.29.120.226:2332 4) Load into Arma2: Combined Operations and click on the "Remote" button. 5) In the "IP" field, put 23.29.120.226 (everything before the colon) 6) In the field under that ("port"), put "2332". 7) After these steps your IP field should say "23.29.120.226" without the quotes, and your port field should say "2332" without quotes 8) Click okay and the server SHOULD show up. Note: In neither of these fields is there a colon. Note2: You can follow these steps with any server you want, however the IP and port numbers will be different. I simply used mine because I know my server is working perfectly. Hope to see you in game ^^

A range finder doesn't calculate max weapon range. A range finder tells you how far away something is. Wambo - 10k for a pistol is definitely wrong, but I can't help you on that other then saying it's wrong, sorry :|
-
Infinite loading (without the bar) is caused by either server or hive lag. Try another server to see if it's the server. If it persists, the hive is lagging and there's really nothing we can do.

Can't respawn/restart...stuck in same place when load in
fuzzy4ever replied to yynderjohn's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This guy: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/42316-stuck-in-endless-hourglass/ fixed his problem by "i just decided to go into arma 2 combined operations and then just delete my guy and remake him and it worked " -
Logging in unconscious every time and mass FPS drop?
fuzzy4ever replied to FuRiouSOne's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Low FPS is usually caused by the server - Unless of course you have a low quality computer. Simply switch servers until that server is restarted and you'll be good to go. Also - Being knocked unconscious on load in is ALSO a server related issue. You'll notice that if you switch servers, you won't be unconscious. I believe it's a bug. It will go away when the server that is making you unconscious, is restarted. Or if you die. -
Major artifacts after last patch
fuzzy4ever replied to Cyborg Ninja's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yup, for me it's being caused by the dead soldiers around areas like balota airfield, NW airfield, etc. I've heard other people say it was coming from barbed wire for them... -
Yea I got one ATV to save it's position, but it never could save it's contents.. Note: That's one ATV out of the 8 or so vehicles we tried it on. @Quismsheecose - I'm guessing that's spam. Wtf is with spam bots following me >_>
-
No, you couldn't get a decent graphics card for 50. I'm using a Radeon HD 5770 and they run for $115, but a 6850 runs for 150 and is the absolute best bang for your buck (Proof here: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_value.html)

Is that a laptop?
-
Every time I join US 1468 Dallas, I become unconscious for 5-10 minutes. This doesn't happen with other players on the server, nor with me joining other servers. Is there a fix for this that doesn't require me to kill myself?

FIXED BY SERVER RESTART

It's called "Toggle View"

Taking ages to load in/Running game at 8-9 fps randomly (I can run at 30 fps high end settings like 4 days ago?) HELP!!!
fuzzy4ever replied to cjohnston's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Your FPS is heavily affected by the server. Some servers can handle it, some can't. -
Ah... good point... can't respawn now so won't be able to kill yourself... Well shit, I have no idea XD Only thing I could think of would be to run around and hope to find a cliff or something
