Can you join non-dayz servers? Try that out and see what happens. If so, it's a problem with dayz. If not I'd shoot and email to [email protected] containing your CD key and your problem, and they will look into it for you. The only way that I know of finding your CD Key that you have lost is to use a third party program, and I'm not sure I want to link to the site that hosts it....

The motherboard that I have in mind does support the Athlon II x4 line, however that processor doesn't show up in the specific list. I'm not 100% sure that it would work, but my bet would be that it does. Even if it doesn't, newegg's return policy allows you to send it back. I have this in mind: Memory: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16820231311 Motherboard: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16813138348 Graphics: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16814102908

You say you bought it from an online store? Where?

If you still have your CD/DVD key I think you can activate it through steam and doing a file check with it. Before you do that though I'd recommend simply adding to steam and seeing if it'll let you verify, because I think activating through steam will require you to re-install it in the steam directory.

Worst graphical glitches I've ever seen.
fuzzy4ever replied to Thesquidster's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
There is no need to bump this thread, the devs know about the issue. It's caused by static items in the game. A fix is in the works. -
Is there any possibility to change the position of the Debug Monitor?
fuzzy4ever replied to Zenech's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
That's not a bad idea! I'd throw that into the suggestion forum, where it'll hopefully get noticed. -
Stuck at "Loading" Black Screen (No Bar Present)
fuzzy4ever replied to SkyEye's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Loading without the bar is caused by either out of date servers, or laggy server/hive. Try to find a server that you know is up to date and if the problem persists, it's most likely the hive that is lagging. -
Glad to help ^^

I recently built a computer better then mine for a friend for $720 after rebates. It's completely modular too so you won't ever have to buy another computer. The power supply is 750W, which will run any SINGLE graphics card, and the motherboard supports the latest AMD processors. I use AMD because it's the best bang for your buck, as shown on these benchmarks (http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_value_available.html) where AMD has 7 of the top 10 points/dollar.

He must've edited that in right after I posted, as it wasn't there before. Nice productive post for you huh?

FPS isn't affected by distance, the server may be overloaded and hasn't been restarted in awhile. Keeping trying other servers, you probably hit a streak of overloaded servers.
-
You're correct in that analysis, most video cards now adays take ~500W. You could get a Radeon 6850 (135 after rebate, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908) and a Corsair 750W (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006) Those two together will run the game very well.

Is there any possibility to change the position of the Debug Monitor?
fuzzy4ever replied to Zenech's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
No there isn't, however you can change the size of you GUI in the in-game video settings. That'll make it so that it's a pretty more spread out. -
Are you using steam?
-
Apart from lowering everything like you already have, not really. Like I said, you're using very outdated equipment on a very equipment heavy game/engine/mod. The only solution that I can see is upgrading, I'm sorry.

Did you try doing what I mentioned with the firewall off?

stuck at loading screen after character creation.
fuzzy4ever replied to bloodshakels's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This guy: http://dayzmod.com/f...less-hourglass/ fixed his "always dead" problem by "i just decided to go into arma 2 combined operations and then just delete my guy and remake him and it worked " -
Third person can be controlled through server, disabling or enabling it based on the server. Join "US 1468 Dallas" (no quotes) I know for sure that they have third person enabled. If you still can't go third person, I'd recommend setting your key bindings to default and see if that works. I've never really heard of the gun aiming problem, though coupled with the above issues makes me think that setting your keybindings to default would be the best first step.

Yup. You'd need a new motherboard to get a new processor/video card, and probably a new power supply to support that video card. On top of new memory since it's up to DDR3 and you're on DDR1. A complete upgrade is a rather daunting idea (both money-wise and getting the parts). If you build your own, it may cost a bit more but it'll last much much longer and you can ALWAYS swap out parts whenever it's time to upgrade. If you buy a pre-built computer, the cost will be lower but it's not going to last nearly as long, and you can't swap out parts.

Yes, another one of these threads. Just recently (in the last 10 minutes) got this and am stuck on it, I'm not the only one getting it. Another guy in my group is also stuck at it. We both have 1.7.2.4/95417.

"Waiting For Character to Create"
fuzzy4ever replied to fuzzy4ever's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It was actually fixed by the server being restarted. Try logging into another server, that's how I figured out it was the server. I was able to join other servers. -
stuck at loading screen after character creation.
fuzzy4ever replied to bloodshakels's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This often happens after patches, due to flooding of downloading and re-logging. -
Have you tried other servers? FPS are usually server-side. Based on what you've said (Changing settings doesn't change fps) that seems to be the issue here.

stuck at loading screen after character creation.
fuzzy4ever replied to bloodshakels's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
There is, but that's not the problem here. "Loading" is where information is being sent back and forth in large bursts between the server (Where vehicles are, the current map, trees, everything.) and can sometimes take awhile even on a good server. When the hive is bogged down, it pretty much won't load until the hive is steady again. -
Honestly it's a miracle you got from 5 to 17. I think it may be time for an upgrade, once you can afford it. Arma 2 is running an outdated engine and does require a lot more resources then it sound, especially with DayZ running on top of it.
