Yo Adron, trying to get ahold of someone from FoE to get comms info. Anywhere between 4 and 10 been playing in your server daily and would like to have a way to contact admin if need be (this would be left to me or 1 of 2 other higher ups, we wouldnt be giving out the info to our whole clan). We are also working on getting our squad.xml updated so you guys know which players are from the 9th while we are in your house. We had a member shoot a guy yesterday, then 60 seconds later shot the same guy again. Might have been a hack teleporting to get his gear back but since we are in there so often and a few of us have up to 10 years of OFP/Arma experience it would be good if we could open up some dialogue and be able to talk to admin if needed. Was signing up on your boards there and it said if you register it is basically applying for the guild, so I stopped and did a search on these forums. PS. server needs beta patch update from this morning... wont let me in :(

I can see server hoping for death dodging or ghosting, that crap is just lame. But if I do my normal route of stary, then south barracks then north barracks, then switch servers and reverse I wonder if thats still considered exploiting. Had a guy when I was in south with 2 friends, hopped in killed 1 then hopped out. Then again a minute later and got the other friend, the 3rd time he came for me I was waiting for him and I put 4 5.56 rounds into him and he never came back. I hope he just logged in unconsious and bled to death whichever server he ended up in.

I'll bring the boys and raid it for loot tonight if I can.

NW side of Chernogorsk, there are 5 appartment buildings and a hospital. Sneak in there at night and you will be golden. Backpacks, guns, food, sometimes camo, meds, maps, compasses. If there isnt enough in there a block SE of the hospital is a military set up of tents. SW past the factories there is a supermarket (also good for guns and bigger backpacks and everything) and a fire house. If you venture further in the pubs and cafe's are great. Going at dusk and staying low and slow should see you through safely.

Its more of a gaming community, been around for over 10 years, lots of different games. The arma group plays DayZ and just about anything else. Alot of realism ACEmod stuff too.

2 ways... kill a player and loot the corpse, that worked for me twice. Also found them in other players camps. They spawn in military builsings and tents like the military camp at stary sobor, the NW airfield and even super rarely in deer stands but taking them from another player is usually the quickest way. You can go to a place they spawn, check it, log out, log into another server, check, log out... repeat until you find them.

I generally shoot whoever I see if they are up north and I'm running solo. Giving people a chance usually turns out poorly. In the south if I have just started I team up with people sometimes. Me and the guys have picked up some strays along the way if there are a group of us. Gives us the security of being able to ask if they are friendly and if not they dont usually give a group of 4 to 10 any trouble.

You can usually find people at Stary Sobor or the NW Airfield.. better to shoot them dead, then loot their gear, then say hi. It's usually how it works in DayZ.

Steam does have a friends and community system that you can add people too and if they use steam to launch their game it will tell you when and what they are playing. If they use a launcher program such as six updater though, steam wont know they are playing and if you message them through steam they will have to alt+tab out rather than just bring up the steam overlay you can use while launching from steam. Six updater version 2 is being created, I havent read the features or anything on it but I'm hoping it does have the ability to track what server friends are in. Also a good thing to do to co-ordinate while playing or anything is get a ventrilo or teamspeak server. You can usually run TS right off your computer, I'm not sure how much bandwidth it takes up while using your own computer as the server though.

Initiating duels is easy. Go to big cities and run around, go to airfields and run around.

Ya it takes some pretty decent hardware to crank the graphics settings. I guess its partly due to the huge play area and the large draw distances you can set. If you turn down the view distance you can usually turn up the quality a bit more and vice-versa. In some custom missions and mods though, the draw distance is preset and wont let you adjust.

Well, besides Tukes post right above yours people wont have to post asking what they need to run it and wait for people to reply with their opinions.

Steam will keep Arma up to date for you, if you look for and download Six updater it will keep the arma 2 beta patch and DayZ up to date for you. SImply point six to the arma 2 and arrowhead .exe's and it will work as a launcher and server browser aswell. http://www.six-updater.net/

All the enterable buildings of a certain type will be enterable. Not sure about a gallery, probably one somewhere. Could try the bohemia interactive forums. It seems that comming at a door from a certain angle effects you getting the prompt to open it. if you are prone about a foot back and looking up at the center of the door you could try that. Or find one that you KNOW is openable and test different angles. Alot of times enterable buildings dont have doors you can open and close at all. They just stay open.

I can run the game maxed out with max view distance on: X4 965 BE ATI 6950 Vista 64 8 gigs ram None of it is over clocked yet cause I dont want to void any warrantees. The frame rate is passable but if I turn off post processing, AA, AS (which Ido anyways cause the blur makes it harder to spot enemies at a distance) the frame rate is good. When I upgraded I had to replace everything cause it was an old pentium 2 duo system. I went bang for my buck and ended up paying about $1300CA in upgrades all together if I remeber correctly. Most of it was bought at a place that charges a little more but they have wicked customer service and support. The one thing I did go as good as I could on was the motherboard. Getting a sweet mother board will make sure that if you upgrade again in a little while that it wont bottle neck the performance of any newer, faster components. Also if you are just upgrading for Arma 2, getting 2 ATI cards to work in crossfire is a waste. You would probably end up having to disable cross fire to play arma 2. Though this is just an Alpha. I would go a bit higher on the hardware asuming that eventually they will port DayZ mod to Arma 3 which when I checked last, should be out in the next 6 months. Which will also be the day I O/C my system.

I'd get the largest backpack I could find, take the best assault riffle, the best sniper riffle (you can put 1 primary in your backpack) and the best pistol. Drive the truck to the shore, ditch your gear in a bush (backpack and all) drive the truk into the ocean, swim back, get your gear and continue on the way. You dont want anyone else finding the cache while you are logged off and using those weapons on you later. Oh wait, I did this about a week ago. People need to hide their camps better.

If it doesnt work it could be the admins server settings. People running the servers can turn that option off so you have to rely on land navigation. Don't worry though, after a while of playing you will learn the area and the only reason you will need a map is to tell players where you want to meet up.

Unless I'm rolling 4 deep with the guys or more we dont take any chances and shoot onsight. If we have a good crew together we will pick up stragglers, get them on TS and help them get geared up on our journeys. If I'm rolling solo and I see someone, they die. This is because players in the game are at the point where they have all been killed by a bandit a time or 2, so even if they arent a bandit, they will shoot you on sight rather than trust you. So why give them the chance. Snipers around the starting cities though? they are there solely to be douche-bags IMO. If they have the big guns there is no point for them to be there unless they have friends in the city getting gear they are on overwatch for, better gear is farther north anyways. I have done this once but didn't have to shoot anyone. Just used the scope to spot other players to avoid and relay info. Fired once on a player, but it turned otu to be a clan mate who wasnt doing a very good job at status updates and it looked like he was about to shoot another team mate. Take from that what you will, I guess my comment is really just one of "it is what it is".

Also walking aroung in cramped spaces with more than one person in a hallway. If you guys get bunched up and wedge eachother against walls you can sometimes take damage, get shock, or even break your legs. If its the unconscious timer, you can get knocked out by taking damage, also switching servers too fast a couple times will give you a mean one that takes a couple minutes to wear down.

There is not, you can use a hatchet or a crowbar though!

Sweet, didnt know, owned one laptop ever... an older acer with an ATI 3d card in it but it doesnt do too well. Having an older "gaming" laptop... and knowing about voltage and heat in computers. Like I said, just as far as I know, which is dated. Only use laptops for work and research now, I build desktops for the gaming stuff.
