Correct, a few of the weapons that only spawn at crash sites are: Bizon SD, AS50, L85 ASW, FN FAL, FN with NV scope. The AS50 I think you can use 107 mags with and the L85 ASW takes stanags.

The maps are topographical so land nav is pretty easy, however if you are still learning and such regular servers are way easier to find your way around and they will give you cross hairs on your screen to help you aim. Should say in the server selection screen what difficulty they are running on. Recruit or regular show you on the map.

Next time, respawn, press P, then press print screen. Press 'i' to get server name. Open Photoshop, paint, whatever and paste. Then save. By watching who didnt die you will be able to get player names, although it can be fruitless cause all they have to do is edit their profile and change their name. It is up to the server admin to be around and get their player ID's and ban them.

Pressing and holding 'i' will give you a score board, but that is players that have been in the server aswell, not just who is in there at the time. Pressing 'p' will bring up a list of players, clicking or mousing over the names will bring up their squad.xml's, pings from last 3 reported, and desync.

Hit respawn till it says Chernogorsk, night time is best. Walk around the north side (opposite the water) you will see 5 appartment buildings on the north side with a hospital. Crawl in there and loot. Usually has everything you need to start. If not there is a firehouse and a supermarket SW of there through the factories that are right across the street to the south. Night time is better and crawl or crouch/walk. Helps keep zombies from noticing you. Loot up, enjoy! SW means facing the water with it being slightly on your left Incase you arent good without a compass.

My only reasons 1. Getting gear faster. After I have all the gear I want there is no point to kill random people who dont see me anymore (unless I see someone with an L85 ASW before they spot me. Its the last thing on my list. Second part of this is wanting to get in and get out. Was about to loot Stary a couple times and there were either people in the tents or about to go in the tents. Didn't want to wait to get their leavings. 2. Not having to spawn on the beach thinking "I should have just shot him" But now I have all the loot I need minus an L85 ASW, so most people are safe. I usually just roll cap for friends raiding cities and call out trouble and make bad guys disapear if they show up. Don't go out killing 'everyone' I see anymore.

I was going to rewrite these better, but I dont feel the need to be arrogant today. I don't agree with some of these but yea most of them would work, except staying in lit areas where other players can see you from far away.

Players to look out for: Bad Uncle Bob - he will team up with people in Cherno and starting areas, roll with you all night and wait till its same and shoot you in the back. Heard he has a youtube channel and records it all. Saw him in a server, there was 6 of us, 3 of us logged out and the 2 that stayed said he tried to kill them after. Tips: Stay low in cities, crouch/walk alot. Low and slow in the cities will lower the range zombies can see and hear you. While travelling around stay near forests or in tree lines, especially during the day. Best time to loot cities is dusk and dawn, you still get the advantage for it being night vs zombies sight range, but you can still see clearly without cranking your gamma or NVG's Remember if you think people are out to get you, you will be right almost all the time.

Agree. Find a clan to roll with, lots out there recruiting. Safety in numbers, also the larger the firefight the more fun it is.

LOL that sounds like a pretty fun first time, most people just run into town and get mobbed by zombies their first time, or shot up before even getting to a town.

It's the meeting of 3 communities, hard core arma players like myself, DayZ players who never played arma, COD, BF, then the players that came from COD, BF. These 3 all have different play styles and ideals. It is totally possible to meet players in game, become friends and have a great time. 3 9th members were taking fire in cherno so we fanned out, shot a guy in the back (he became unconsious), realized he wasn't who was firing on us. Then we healed him up and now him and his buddy play with us daily. We've also picked up other players along the way and teamed up. It's just risky, some players start out knowing they are going to screw you over when it's safe, others decide to along the way if you find gear they want. Then there are the ones who shoot on sight. Once in a while you will just meet someone along the way who realizes getting a crew together makes DayZ alot safer.

Switch between channels using , or . Channels in DayZ are: -Direct: only players in close range can hear you or see your chat -Vehicle: only people in the same vehicle can recieve you -Group: Just about useless in DayZ, though I think if you have group selected you can create map markers that the whole server can see (might be worng on that) -Side chat: Some servers have side chat enabled, all players in DayZ can hear or recieve what you type because everyone is basically on the same side as far as the game is concerned. Most servers will kick or ban you for using VOIP in side chat because it can get distracting and annoying (also people love to spam side chat with mics) but text chat is normally okay. Server rules usually pop up when entering a server so make sure you follow them regarding side chat.
