The hole in this logic is that you‘re assuming that vehicles are being kept within the bounds of the map. They‘re -not-. They‘re 5-15km off the edge of the map; helis have the range to be 20km+ off the edge. Off-map despawn mechanics are -not- working, and unfortunately vehicles within the map are free game for kiddies with ESP/map hacks.

Blood Stained Axe Murderer???

At least they're being creative with their shenanigans. Don't bother trying to shoot him, he's got godmode on. Just Abort or run away. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.5 Rolling Update

I'm looking forward to people being unable to spam fire and relog when they use it all. -
.50 can go through thin brick walls (fire station walls stop them). If he had an ESP hack, he'd know exactly where you are. He could have also been invisible and shot you point-blank, or just simply picked your name off the player list and /killed. They're all within the bounds of script kiddies. However, it's also entirely likely that you got shot from through a window, or from some other angle you weren't aware of.

Something has to be done about these hackers
_Gunslinger_ replied to Kallemyster's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
How about flat-out rejecting all clientside scripts? Is DayZ such a ragtag mod that it seriously requires them? EDIT: That is to say, not disabling script capability within Arma II, but surely the DayZ Server software has the capability to disable them? -
Vehicles would be far more accessible if the off-map despawn function actually freaking worked. Within a week of heli's being reintroduced, they've all been found and hoarded by asstards.

APC's drive just like any other civilian wheeled vehicle. Tracked vehicles are designed to be as user-friendly as possible, for all the meatheads in this world. If the survivors are smart enough to figure out how to fly a helicopter, they can figure out a tank pretty quick. Shit, do you know how many things you need to do right just to start a fucking heli?

Fortifying buildings leads to the Urban Dead problem; absolutely every freaking house is barricaded like Fort Knox. Armor-plating vehicles sounds like a fun idea. Might even provoke people into taking them out of their off-map hoards once in a while! Wire fencing can stop zombies if you double or triple lay it in the same spot. It becomes thick enough that the pathing AI recognizes it as an obstacle. It also makes a decent barricade against players, since they'll be there for a while removing all the wire!

One thing I'd like to mention is a lot of the so-called 'snipers' in this game really don't earn their namesake. They spawn/dupe themselves an AS50 and operate at 200-400m range. At such close range you can zero for 300m and be guaranteed to hit somewhere on their body, due to there being virtually zero bullet drop at that range. The AS50 sniper on my team operates at the very edge of his draw distance, which is on average 650-700m. Fun story, he has the longest average lifespan of our entire team, he's a stone killer even in close quarters, and even he has to take more than one shot sometimes, because bullet drop is a real thing at that distance. Using the other sniper weapons actually requires skill. Both the DMR and SVD require that you know the range pretty damn accurately, and then have to eyeball your bullet drop using the mildots/chevrons. The CZ and M24 have zeroing, but have tiny clips and still require you to compensate your aim unless they're an exact multiple of 100m away from you. What's more, your target is rarely stationary, and it takes a lot of practise to get leading right, even with a .50. I think Scarecrow is suffering a combination of spending too much time in Elektro, and standing still in the wrong places.

Are you running the game as an administrator? You might be having issues with the game being unable to access your user profile folder.

The red beret camo is a favorite of script kids. The G36's aren't legit weapons, nor is the M24 desert (why you wouldn't want the legit M24 with woodland camo is beyond me) or RGO grenades.

If they're going for a Minecraft-style payment plan, I'll happily sign up day 1. Otherwise being able to redeem your ARMA II key for a coupon would be nice.

I'll stop taking advantage of my tents restocking themselves when I stop getting nuked by hackers. Oh, and I've easily lost as much gear to bugged tents as what's been duped.
-
Once the ammo/weapon duping and refilling of mags are fixed, you'll find people using military-grade snipers less and less. Only those who put the effort into finding ammunition and stay alive to keep their weapon will be able to effectively use them. The morons will noob it up, get one between the eyes and won't be able to flee back to their tent for another AS50.

There's still a distinct advantage that you can shoot right the first time, and kill them before any of these adrenaline shenanigans come into play. There are a lot of well-documented cases that show that what doesn't kill someone turns them into an enraged demigod, seemingly ignorant of crippling injuries. Guys like Lachhiman Garung, whose entire arm was blown off while throwing enemy grenades back at them, which only seemed to piss him off. Or Yogendra Singh Yadav, who took three bullets in the back while climbing a 100ft sheer cliff face of ice, and kept going. Once he got to the top, he charged an enemy machine-gun bunker (getting shot some more on the way) to lob a grenade through the window. Basically, there's a very real risk that a human being will rip your spine out through your asshole with their bare hands if you don't kill them outright on the first try.
-
Fun fact: most modern body armour is only really capable of stopping pistol and submachine gun rounds, and 5mm rifle rounds from medium to long range. 7mm and up rounds may be slowed/deflected enough to turn a killing shot into a wound. There is also a rarely-observed phenomenon associated with .50 ammunition; it makes a sound akin to giggling as it effortlessly rips through reinforced ceramic armor plates. Oh, and armour-piercing ammunition is available for rifles, submachine guns and most larger caliber pistols.

What, you idiots really think the dogs are going to be on your side? -
I laughed aloud at the idea of the 'red man' protective suit being an outfit that makes you all but immune to zombie attacks:
-
I like the idea of body armour being an outfit; it'd be a tough choice to go for concealment or more protection...

Read the entire post next time genius. :emptycan:

anyone find it weird that in dayz...

The zombies managed to blow up tanks and armored cars at some point. -
That one tent you don't expect...
_Gunslinger_ replied to Conaire's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Those are the best kind of traps. Fill it with awesome guns, then all your buddies come crowding in like vultures, and you spend 20mins trying to decide who gets what... easy targets.
