    Train... Hear me out

Once again, it's asking to get camped by snipers.

    Train... Hear me out

First off.. if it worked like other cars it'd probably be broken 24/7 and easily camped as it goes on the same route. This would be so easily camped by snipers, or anyone really.

HAcker just wiped out us 1586

The funny thing is it isn't beside the point. It is in alpha, and you are doing nothing but testing it. If you're not interested in testing the game then don't play the alpha. Edit: Btw this isn't a suggestion.

My rant on why DayZ is getting worse

I was actually surprised read this. I feel like zombies are way too easy. I don't understand how you die that many times from zombies, or how you have to alt F4 because of zombies. Seriously, I've done this once or twice, but I never HAD to. People don't give a shit about zombies in this game. You run through a building with 2 entrances and you lose all the zombies chasing you, also works with some bushes. I think the zombies should be HARDER. They need to be a threat because currently they is none. People only worry that while shooting a zombie, someone will hear and come kill you. I personally think zombies need to be able to run inside. I think ammo should be scarce. I agree that people should maybe start with a crowbar (because hatchet is a tool). Zombies need to be an actual threat. Then the melee weapon should have durability, so you don't just kill all the zombies with that instead of wasting precious ammo. This way people would think twice before unloading clip after clip on players because they'd care that they might not be able to find more. Maybe their melee weapon is broken. Maybe they don't want to aggro the actually threatening zombies with the gunshots.

    Better then SEX!

What? Don't see the problem in what? The game would be absolutely boring if there were 0 competition as the zombies don't provide any threat.

    Better then SEX!

I'm pretty sure it's in alpha, not beta. Either way, the problem with the "rewarding the bushmen" part is that people know the spawn points for stuff on the map. People would check these 24/7 as they're not random spawns like helicopter crashes. "By the time the game is out of Beta 60% and more of the people will not be playing anymore... which is also a FACT!" I don't know how you can make this claim, or what you based it on. If you just pulled the percentage out of your ass and called it a fact then just remove that sentence. "Zombies in general are very stupid creatures they rely on brute strength," yet you say they should run slow with their brute strength. I don't really get how slower zombies is any different than running zombies into a barn where they run slow so you can shoot them. Personally I think zombies need to be able to run fast, probably slightly slower than they do now, indoors. Threatening zombies would make people need to deal with them more than they do now. The problem is you can go to a city, find a gun, and find an entire inventory worth of ammunition for it (Lee Enfield). Then I think you need a way to deal with zombies if you don't have a gun. This is where a melee weapon would be nice, as they would be more common. To make melee weapons not the only thing used on zombies you could make them have durability. This way people's melee weapons would break, they'd need ammo to shoot zombies, and wouldn't be so careless to shoot all of their precious ammo at other players. This could also encourage teaming up because if you aggro hordes of zombies you might not be able to shoot them and kill them all before they run up to you in the house or wherever before you get hit some. You'd probably need someone else helping you kill them. Overall, some good ideas, and some bad.

    Graphical Issues

I understand that you're frustrated, but give suggestions in a more civilized manner. I don't know if you live in some area that doesn't have servers hosted so you feel the need to host your own, but you can always stop paying for it.

    Future Suggestions for Standalone DayZ

I feel the major problem with the game at the moment is the lack of threat from zombies and the abundance of ammunition. I can go to one city find a Lee Enfield, and then I can fill my backpack with Lee Enfield ammo before I leave the city. Guns and ammunition need to be scarce. I feel melee weapons should be usable while having a rifle equipped along with an easy way to switch to it. If there were melee weapons I feel like they need durability , so they aren't the preferred choice for killing zombies. People need to think twice before wasting their precious ammunition on players because if there were threatening zombies and they had no melee weapon because it broke then they might want to save that ammo to kill zombies (this sentence is talking about if these changes were implemented).

The "Official" FIX on trust in DayZ

I don't think this really fixes much other than you and your friends inability to communicate. I don't think friendly fire should be turned off. It takes away from the immersion. You don't have to worry about communicating and shooting your friends, so you just shoot anyone on sight because it doesn't matter.

    Why this mod is failing

I agree that it's in alpha, and it's foolish to say the mod is failing. I believe this thread belongs in the suggestion thread, and could be a little more formatted towards giving suggestions instead the bitchy tone is has.

    Why this mod is failing

But it's not hardcore. You don't need the best guns to just run around and shoot people. The best guns just let you do it from long range so the newbs can't find you. Losing your stuff is like oh well.. I'll go to town and find an enfield and a gazillion ammo because apparently every damn house in the game was stock piled with ammunition. It's dumb, ammo is WAY too abundant. It needs to be scarce, but even with that zombies need to be a threat. This way people will think twice before blowing clip after clip killing people instead of saving it to protect them from zombies. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy what the game offers now, but it could use some tweaking. I'm just pissed I got teleported by a hacker as soon as I joined a server and he started unloading on people, so I aborted. I logged into another server and I'm in the middle of the airfield (I was at stary sobor, w/e it's called). The bad thing about this is when I'm in the middle of the airfield every direction I look is artifacting so I can't even see to run away.

    Graphical Issues

Rocket said they wanted to handle the servers themselves but people wanted to host their own servers. Don't bitch because you pay to host a server for a game in alpha.

Easy Solution to Solve Many Problems

Finally some people give some legitimate feedback. I can see where the two previous posts are coming from, but I also feel like if they polished the mod up a bit and some core issues the idea could work. It might be worth the effort though. It would suck for streamers to. Someone finds out where some streamers play on regularly and stream snipe.

Easy Solution to Solve Many Problems

I don't think the instability of the current servers is really an issue to bring up. Bringing up this issue is like saying they will NEVER be capable of having stable servers, therefore you can never have a good feature like this.
  16. I have heard people say that Rocket would prefer DayZ to be focused on more of zombie survival with some PvP rather than it being a PvP survival game with some zombies. I could see this happen with some basic changes. However, I don't actually know how hard this stuff would be to implement because, as I heard in a video, the mod "is a hack on top of a hack" (Rocket). Some of these ideas I'm going to suggest are apparent problems, and the team is probably aware of. This is basically me throwing my ideas that I think could help DayZ to feel more like a zombie survival game with some PvP instead of the opposite. TL:DR Section (Read this section if you just want to read the suggestions) 1. Zombie AI/mechanics: The first suggestion would to work on zombie AI/mechanics. I'm sure everyone knows this problem, and it's been addressed a million times. If zombies could run indoors people wouldn't just run through a building and lose the horde of zombies they had chasing them. They'd actually have to deal with them one way or another. I feel like you should be able to go into a room, close the door and the zombies can't get inside, but you're stuck inside the building now with zombies outside. 2. Scarcity of ammo: I feel like it's way too easy to find ammo for a gun. I know there's some guns with rare ammo, but I feel like all ammo should be hard to find. This would make players think twice before unloading clips trying to kill other plays. They might need that ammo to deal with some zombies they aggro that can actually run inside buildings. 3. Melee weapons/durability: If you were to make ammo scarce then we would need some way to defend ourselves when we don't have ammo for a gun. This is where the crowbar or hatchet comes in. The current problem with these two weapons is that it replaces your main gun to be able to use it, and there's no point to use it once you find a lee enfield or some pistol that you find tons of ammo for where ever you go. For people to use the melee weapon it needs to be easily accessible without having to put your gun in your backpack or drop it on the ground. Now to prevent people from just meleeing zombies instead of wasting their precious ammo, you would have durability. The weapon would break after a certain amount of use. Currently the melee weapons have ammo at like 10,000, or something like that. This is where the problems with implementing this stuff comes in. 4. Log out timer: Currently people can just alt + F4 when they are almost dead, or they just abort when someone shoots them and makes them pass out. To fix this I feel like all you have to do is put a timer after you click abort. It would take something like 10-20 seconds. To keep people from alt + F4ing you could do something like MMOs where people stay online after they alt + F4 for a period of time. Their internet goes out, and they legitimately get DCed. Oh well that's bad luck, like any game. TL:DR Section (Read this section if you just want to read the suggestions) Over all, I feel like zombies need to be a bigger threat. For them to be a bigger threat you need zombies who can actually chase someone, and ammo needs to be scarce. For ammo to be scarce you need something to use in place of it (melee weapons). For melee weapons to not be the preferred choice for killing zombies, because ammo is scarce, you need threatening zombies and durability on the melee weapons. Now this brings me to think the game would feel like you just crawl around passed zombies, and don't want to kill people because you don't have ammo, and this is just a running simulator. This is where a better bandit/survivor system would come in. Maybe make zombie hoards come at random. This is really getting into a sort of Left 4 Dead feel because I don't really know how many people would be into just finding loot, so they just go find more loot, but don't have enough to just PvP at random. It would probably get boring for a lot of people unless the zombies get reworked and are more engaging.

    Just a few suggestions.

Sure and they can gather all they ammo they want and go on a killing spree. Then they can go back to gathering ammo and building up their stock until they have enough to go on a killing spree again. Currently it's a 24/7 killing spree in the starting areas.

Easy Solution to Solve Many Problems

I doubt that people get killed once because of server hopping, and then decide that will happen every time. I'm sure most of them continue to do it. Secondly, your friends would eventually be all on your server. If you met them in game then you would have met them on your server that you play the most because your character would be saved per server. If they are a RL friend then hopefully you all decided to start on the same server (kinda like how MMOs work). Sure having a persistant character CURRENTLY allows you to help your friends if you have to change server, but that wouldn't matter after this was implemented and people settled on their servers.

    Just a few suggestions.

Can you give me and feedback as to why not? Otherwise, useless criticism.

    Rocket has dropped the Ball

You must be new to playing games before release. It's in alpha if not pre alpha like some of the videos say (not sure how old the videos are), but I do know the download says it's alpha. WarZ is in beta, which is a stage after alpha. So don't get mad because you spent $30 to play a game that's in alpha or pre alpha state and got mad.

    Optional PVP

I don't feel like reading all of these posts, I think a couple have already said it. If you're going to have a PvE only server, that has the same items you can get, then you have to separate the PvE and PvP servers. People will go to PvE servers and find their loot and then log back over to PvP to kill people if it weren't separate.
  22. Date/Time: 27 July 2012, 4:30 PM CST What happened: Launched SixLauncher launched game client instead of choosing my server through SixLauncher. Every server I join does one of 3 things. The first thing is it will just sit at, "Wait for host," which I can just hit escape to get out of and back to the server list. The second thing is it will join the lobby, like before you hit play or w/e and load in, and then it will say "You were kicked from the game" (this one happens most often). Lastly, I will click on a server and it will tell me, "Bad Version," (possibly because I mistakenly joined a 1.7.2.3 server, this one doesn't happen often). I have also tried joining a game through SixLauncher, and it does the same thing. Where you were: Server browser. What you were doing: Browsing servers. *Current installed version: 1.7.2.4 *Server(s) you were on: Several, I don't recall. I didn't really make it onto them either. The part where I see people in the server is as far I would make it before getting kicked. Note: I searched for this in the Bug Reports section and found nothing, but in the General Discussion I found some people talking about it.
  23. Kizoja

You were kicked off the game.

Hey guys, I found a fix for this in another section of the forums. I right clicked on ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead and went to properties for both. From there you click on the Local Files tab. Then click 'VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME CACHE...." Assuming this is the problem it will say it found some files missing or something like that and acquire them. After this right click on ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead and click 'Launch ARMA 2: Combined Operations,' then exit the game (I'm not sure if this step is necessary, but the other post I found said to do this, so I did). Once you have done this it should be fixed. TL:DR- 1. Verify integrity of game cache for ARMA 2 and ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead in Properties->Local Files. 2. Launch ARMA 2: CO. (right click on ARMA 2: Operation Arrowhead and click the ARMA 2: CO option). 3. Should be fixed.

Well, I mean this is what epi-pens are good for, no? xD I'm only kidding, unless you were able to use an epi-pen yourself, but wouldn't make sense because you're knocked out.
