Player movement is limited at the moment because of the lack of features. Rest assured OP, when they introduce vehicles and base-building etc, there will be a hell of a change in the way people use the map.

Im so bad at this game I'm almost crying
ninjaontour replied to Spidey (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
The true key to this game is patience. I could probably count on one hand the amount of times that rash actions have cost the lives of my squad and I. I'm fortunate enough to play with a small group of some patient-assed mother-huggers, to the point where if we've got targets cornered in a building, we'll easily wait an hour before making a move. A good tip in this scenario when you've got someone cornered is to cover their exits and wait. If a message comes up in red stating "xxxx is losing connection" you should send in ONE scout (if you have one). The reason for this is because that message comes up when someone ALT+F4's, leaving you 30 seconds to bust their scalp for combat logging. Also, once you've locked down the target, STOP MOVING. A lot of players neglect this, and to their cost. When you set up shop, double tap ALT and use that mode to look around, instead of waving your gun around every time you turn. It's like the old adage goes, "Practice makes Perfect". Anyway, good luck OP, hope some of this helps. -
No kill counter or leaderboard. Shooting stationary targets who can't even see or hear you? Wow, skillz.

This is a totally ridiculous standpoint, and a cop-out justification for your own KOS mentality. I've met a lot of friendly players, in fact I'd say my Hostile to Friendly ratio with randoms is somewhere in the 60/40 range. Regardless of whether or not we team up, or just meet up, have a quick conversation and say our goodbyes, there are plenty of friendly players around Chernarus. I speak as one of them.

Easiest/quickest place to find a Mosin once on the coast?
ninjaontour replied to wmike20052's topic in General Discussion
Did I just read a thread where someone asked for help, and then RECEIVED IT!? The winds, they are a-changin'. -
Bandits, Bandits, Bandits; everyone gets a Bandit!

Those of us who have the intelligence to make the distinction between the two feel your frustration. "Stand and deliver, your money beans, or your life" -
If memory serves me correctly you need to bind the keys which turn the pages, regardless of being able to access the book's front page.

Having a problem with seeing players at a distance!
ninjaontour replied to cazador's topic in General Discussion
Yep, Object Detail is the culprit here. Even if all of your other settings are set as low as they go, this bad boy needs to be up full whack if you're looking to recon. -
Agreed. +Beanz

Hey guys. I was wondering if we could please, pretty please, get a few stickies in General Discussion to cover discussion of KOS, Hackers, Glitches, etc that we're being inundated with on the daily? I know you guys have a pretty much live and let live attitude when it comes to community content on the forum, but it's getting a little silly. Every other thread is to do with the same issue we see every day, and it's turning these discussions into an immediate flamewar which generates nothing productive. A few stickies would give people a point of reference to bounce from, because apparently using the search bar is asking too much of people. It would at least give you guys somewhere to merge these threads to so they aren't flooding the boards, and give the rest of us a place to send the people who post these threads. What do you guys think? Thanks a bunch guys, keep up the good work.

You're a star, Mos1ey. I think it just makes things a bit easier for you guys, and it definitely makes it easier for us to send people that way. Also gives you guys an excuse to get out a big ol' bag of locks. :) Anyway, thanks for the quick response!

This just isn't true. You can clip into the walls at a walk, or even be pushed through them by another player walking too close to you. @OP - It's really to be expected at the moment, especially with any of the new buildings which haven't been with us that long. I know it's frustrating, but hopefully this is something that will be looked at before the team spends much more time on adding ridiculous nonsense like horses and whatnot.

Is anyone tired of this game because of KOS?

The books are a decent idea, but I don't think that they're implemented very well at the moment. The fact that the pages take up the entire screen feels unnecessary, and it puts you at a huge disadvantage as you can't see anything else. If they were to make it so that it took up half of the screen while still enabling the player to look around via mouse I think it would be far more appealing to people. To all of you wondering how to read the books, you have to go into your control settings and bind the keys before you'll be able to read.

Operation "Sanctuary" safe zone calling all heroes (Event Ended)
ninjaontour replied to thelonewarrior's topic in General Discussion
I get the sense that either people aren't reading the OP, or simply don't understand what is meant by "trusted" players only. OP has already stated the framing for a date, the loose arrangements of arms, and who's involved already. He also stated how you can keep up to date, and how to apply. Why is it so difficult to just read the first post? Silly bandits. -
Remove all long firearms = best kill on sight deterrent.

WP to the fireteam in Cherno we just had a 3 hour shootout with!
ninjaontour replied to cazador's topic in General Discussion
Could well be porkies, but I'm inclined to believe him. The group I run with has had engagements lasting over two hours. Granted that most of those engagements were in the mod, but it's perfectly feasible in SA as well. -
Silently killing Z's. Anyway, we had this in the mod and it didn't work out. Search function is your friend, friend.

Operation "Sanctuary" safe zone calling all heroes (Event Ended)
ninjaontour replied to thelonewarrior's topic in General Discussion
I always played the mod as a hero (gotta have that sweet hero skin). I'd be very interested in this, no matter what the capacity I'd be involved. Up until this point I've found it kinda hard to play the sole-hero role because the group I play with now is a lot smaller than the community I used to play with. I've always been most interested in player interactions in this game as opposed to PVP, and this seems like it could be a lot of fun, as well as a good opportunity to meet some of the more professional friendly players (CQF and The Regulators are both names that ring out quite loud), and maybe make some new pals. I'm most interested in a medic style role as it's the role I was most comfortable with in the mod, but happy enough to do whatever. Anyway, hopefully you guys accept my request. Let me know, and good luck with the event! -
What do you do once you're fully geared?
ninjaontour replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
I want the ability to collect scalps, ears and noses from the people I eviscerate. I want the ability to turn these into visible deterrents such as necklaces and masks. That's right, I want to kill you, and I want to wear your face. -
Wow... it's a little cOLD in here.
-
Have to disagree with you there, Sport. I'd definitely like to camo my axe up along with the rest of my gear. It's as pointless as painting guns and helmets... oh, wait.

I had a friend feed me a rotten banana when we were screwing around. Full blood, hydrated and fed. Took roughly an hour until I was playing good ol' GreyZ. Thankfully my friend was kind enough to scour the map for charcoal tabs for me, and I lived. Still, pretty ridiculous.

Building Materials on actual later spawn site?
ninjaontour replied to Demonica's topic in General Discussion
Construction sites are new... Made me lol. As has been said OP, construction sites aren't anything new, there are quite a few around the map (even more so now than in the mod). Speculation as to possible spawn points for base-building at this stage would be just that, speculation. Like Maca said, they used to house parts for vehicles and the like, so we may see that system make a return. Although, now that we have garages in-game this may not be the case after all!
