Do most people just turn up Gamma during night?
Archu replied to Jamrock990's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The compensation however now, is that servers are only about half full when it's night because of so many people don't like to play at night. More reason to be safe and throw flares all around. -
Day Z amazing, Arma II poor interface
Archu replied to superhans18's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Same as Orbital. I just hope the player base will still be stable once DayZ will eventually be out of it's alpha/beta stage. -
I was able to make it work by using Arma II Launcher, http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=8241 Some quick instructions: - Open up the Launcher - In the Addons tab, drag @Dayz into the Group 1 folder on the right (or however you called it). Make sure it's checked. - In the Launch Options tab, Check "Run Beta" under Other Options. - Use the Browse button under "Arma II - OA Beta" to locate the Beta executable. It should be in your Expansion/Beta folder created in your arma II operation arrowhead folder. ["arma 2 operation arrowhead\Expansion\beta"] - The last you'll do is select "Arma II - CO" under Game Version in the bottom right. It should now run Arma II Combined Ops with the beta patch and DayZ.

I used to play with a res of 1280x720 with AA turned off. Now combined with the beta patch and some performance tweaks done with the Arma 2 Launcher, i could up to 1600x900 with AA on low.. and still have a favourable amount of fps. I would recommend the Launcher aswell, found on armaholic. =]

I was thinking, why not just put the flashlight in the accessory slots (like the map, gps etc.), and be able to use it from there? Ofcourse it might take up a few more slots, but i don't know if that will be possible.

As the lonewolf i am, when i'm not in teamspeak i will have to decide wether it's worth killing someone or if the risk is too great when i spot someone. Do i have good gear? What do they have? Does he have friends with him? Am i in a good spot? Do i have an escape route planned? All these factors. When someone else spots me and asks if i'm friendly i'll usually team up. However, i will keep my eyes on them and let them take the lead. You can say i have my mood changes. I'm usually out in the countryside, avoiding the big cities altogether. As a general rule, i don't trust anyone when heading inland. But so far i've never had a moment where i shot someone in the back.

Global Siren Sound (Every player hears it)
Archu replied to solarghost's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the idea of more random scenarios, just not this one. What i would suggest according to your idea OP, is some other sort of soundcue or music change when a horde of zeds is roaming through Chernarus, and only the players closest to the horde will hear it. (Like zed screams in the distance etc.) That way there is less time to prepare and could make some people panic.. in someway atleast. -
Well done, Rocket. Looking forward to it.

Was with a random survivor in Cherno avoiding a crap load of zeds. When i peeked around the corner i stumbled upon another survivor. He saw me, hid himself and we both started a firefight.. totally forgetting about the zeds we just sneaked past. Both him, me and my buddy were the main course that night...

Ever since i've read that thread about the radio, i'm just feeling more creeped out. This is the way Dayz should keep their Horror elements. Elements such as mysterious and unexplainable. And even if it is, it's just plain disturbing. I've recently played this mission called 'Chernarus Apocalypse'. This could be an example of how creepy it can be if zombies and other horrors are found in the country sides/forests etc. I've played this alone during the night with the lights out, and to be honest.. i've had nightmares. Check out this video for example: Besides that, there could be some sort of creature only spawned in forests and during the night that 'stalks' the player (Like the choking noises you hear later in the video). That way players are even more cautious in forests and could up the eerie atmosphere during the night.
