I wouldn't be opposed to it, but I think it'd be a waste of dev time. It wouldn't make any real difference, something that big isn't going to blend in no matter what you do. It's so easy to spot anything from air if you're looking.

Social Observation: Playing DayZ to not play DayZ
[email protected] replied to ACow's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Spot on post OP. A good example is to watch some of the twitch streams of day-z. You'll see a group of people, each equipped with every item one would want in the game flying in a helicopter on a low pop server. They simply hoard more of the same gear they have or tactically outmaneuver 2 lee enfield equipped noobs on the south coast with their team of snipers/spotters and designated machine gun users. Variations on this theme exist but the same general principle always applies. The people are assuming zero risk in doing whatever they are doing. -
Why do my tents keep getting discovered?
[email protected] replied to suspectmammal's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I normally get geared up by finding tents like yours. If there's not much there sometimes I just note the location and let it set for awhile, let the owner think it's safe. Then once he loads it up I raid it. Tent finding is also just one of my favorite activities in game. -
I have everything, what should I do now?
[email protected] replied to o00Frost00o's topic in New Player Discussion
Play recklessly until you get killed. You could join a group but honestly that's just going to get you in the same boat, just much quicker. -
How do you survive for more than a few hours?
[email protected] replied to ZePlague's topic in New Player Discussion
Gear up on lower pop servers. Don't try to be sneaky in towns, just run. While running remember to serpentine for snipers! -
So can this not be played alone?
[email protected] replied to cindyanne1's topic in New Player Discussion
Playing alone is fine. You've just experienced what most new players do at first. You will learn. I think I would have quit already if I played mostly in a group as there is no risk involved whatsoever. Playing solo keeps you on your toes. -
Can't Play - Afraid of Hackers
[email protected] replied to bjason1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Looking forward to when I get thunderdomed. I feel left out that I haven't had any problems, especially since everybody else gets attacked by hackers. -
Zeds "see" out of their chests. Their head can be cocked looking at you but they won't see you unless their chest points at you. Crouch walking should be ok, or even crouch running sometimes.
-
Not in my experience. I must just be very lucky picking servers as I've never had a problem with hackers. I play in a variety of populated servers mostly in the 20/40 range.

Why do people just shoot? and how do you survive?
[email protected] replied to ozal91's topic in New Player Discussion
It's possible I've had 120 or so zed kills. Pick a low pop server to start out on. That way you can gear up in Cherno/Elektro without as much risk from other players. Night servers are also good as most NVG users are up north by the airfield and stary. Once you get geared just stay in the woods or if you want to kill zeds go for the little towns in the middle of nowhere. -
Just round em up and run into a house then either kill them or leave em there. Never try to be sneaky in cities. While it sounds like a good idea in theory, in reality it just makes you an easy target for other players.

What items elude you so far?
[email protected] replied to teteiyusu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The rarest thing I've found myself is a coyote backpack in a deerstand. I have literally found nothing else worth mentioning like gps, nvg, ghillie etc. Off of players I've found everything. -
Killing two birds with one solution (scripting and snipers)
[email protected] replied to Mr. Pink's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The suggestions impact would be close to nothing I imagine. People who get mad in video games always like to paint those that they don't like as "kids", as if being a kid is a bad thing. Most players are probably over 18 so that means most hackers and people who use sniper rifles are adults. -
We need a purpose.
[email protected] replied to WildGunsTomcat's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The beauty of sandbox games is you create your own purpose/mission. Too many gamers do want to be told exactly what to do, when and how to do it and exactly what reward they will get for doing it. This isn't the genre for them. I'd circle jerk the status quo all day to keep this from turning into just another clone that we've played many times before. -
I AM QUITING THIS PARODY OF A GAME
[email protected] replied to Blackhammer18's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm quitting this parody of a thread! -
People shooting unarmed people, why?
[email protected] replied to kitta's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If unarmed people didn't get shot we wouldn't have these wonderful QQ posts to read. -
Are there vehicle location hacks? or admin abuse here?
[email protected] replied to lnfighter's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well they wouldn't be removing certain info from the logs if this kind of abuse wasn't going on. Do a google search and you'll see that if they wanted to, admins could indeed do those things. -
Maybe you wouldn't find an AS50 at a russian military base. I can also guarantee you wouldn't find any zombies at one either.
-
Inside a building is only place you can really hide if they are keeping an eye out. Like other guy said with graphics turned down you can see everything from a helicopter. You can fly over a forest and pick out every tent at a glance since the trees are defoliated at low settings.
-
It most likely won't save the items. Place the tent and see if it will save a tin can or something after reset.

script kiddie found i think
[email protected] replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Perfect example of why they need to limit what goes in the logs that admins are able to read. Most people have no clue what they're reading. -
Not true. My first murder was with a hatchet. I've also had many with the 1911 and revolver.

You know, in a real zombie apocalypse
[email protected] replied to fluffyg's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A real apocalypse would be far worse than anything in this game. Serial killers would no longer need to worry about getting caught. Gangs would take over their little neighborhoods. With no law and order people would revert back to what we've always done, kill each other.
