Well I guess he must be right then, just because you say so I for one never said dayz sucks, I said I've been here since he mod 3 years ago and now over a year of the standalone version and the same debates about lack of development are going on Dayz is a good game if you want a Pew Pew murder simulator with a minor annoyance of having to find food (which you can stick up for life on in 10mins most of the time) This is a discussions out how the development has gone no where and compared to other games it falls behind with the example I already gave It's advertised as a zombie survival game with other players But all their is to do is other players No survival aspects worthy of mention are in the game, survival is piss easy and almost non existent and the zombies are so rare and don't pose a threat even when encountered So if they are going to advertise it as a zombie survival game with other players after 3 years of development I expect it to actually have some of those features, instead it has players laughing at it ignoring zombies and sitting on a pile of food that doesn't run out I don't think that's too much to expect after 3 years

And yet the official change logs I've provided from steam prove there was Where is your evidence to back that up? Truth is it doesn't exist

No Look it up before making accusations Multiplayer released on 10 NOVEMBER, 2014 http://steamcommunity.com/gid/103582791435557442/announcements/detail/216498456005885636 and this update log for 1st December 2014: http://survivetheforest.com/2014/12/v0-10-building-foundations-new-creature-climbing-walkie-talkies/ Read near the bottom Specifically the part that says: (multiplayer) default player cap increased to 8 along with option to go up to 128 players (for adventurous players only! not recommended) So no, it isn't FALSE

Better games have been released since that have made better development The forest for example, they concentrated on core mechanics and built a survival game like they promised and only expand when they are ready instead of adding needless items Over the last six months it's gone from alpha with 2 player to 128 players max per sever They worked hard on the enemies to make them a threat for example instead of just adding another 20 guns and clothing items It's one if many And I've been here since the mod, that's 3 years and zombie improvements have been minimal at best
-
In terms of development it's dead Nothing much has changed in the last few months
-
I wouldn't count on it, they have added verchiles but they will NEVER do anything with the zombies This game is pretty much dead now, they just add new guns and clothes every few weeks to keep people happy who still defend the game, but your not gonna see much happen in the next few years They haven't fixed a lot of things like the movement, hotkeys not working properly I too came back after a long time away, nothing new here worth a mention, disappointed but not surprised

Possible Admin Abuse? Wtf! Zombie chases Me for MILES!
thelonewarrior replied to JRL1990's topic in General Discussion
No way of killing it? You have fists....... -
They can scan your computer but I doubt they can actually steal or use any data It's moat likely these big companies get checked out first before this kind of software is released Most likely they are searching for common known hacks anyway and not searching your computer 1 file at a time

So tents will be deleted on every Wednesday maintenance?
thelonewarrior replied to qwer4790's topic in General Discussion
Real men don't need tents -
They are there but very rare, I've searched all the military bases on the west side including NWAF and the only time in about 8 hours I found one AK107 mag and one AK74 mag at the tent base on the west side Both were in that base and haven't found any others I all that time so they seem incredibly rare at the moment

Where to loot (if there is any point?)
thelonewarrior replied to SurvivorAndy's topic in General Discussion
I found an AK107 mag and a mag for the AK74U in the military base on the west side of the map with all the tents today as well as about 50 loose rounds However not a single AK of any kind at any military bases, I got my AK off a guy who I killed Have not seen one spawn since the update.....but ammo.....found plenty for now -
.It's also not allowed to boot people by having a clan server where you loot up or ban people because they join your server and you want to have it for you to gear up only Yet there are so many servers like this that never get shut down

Player name and how to go over limited letters in name (seen it)
thelonewarrior posted a topic in Troubleshooting
Simple question How do I break the character name limit? In game this : Lone warrior Just about fits before I reach the maximum number of letters avaliable However I saw ths the other day: HGEF BrandiVancovour Which is clearly well past the limit How do people do this? As when I try, on the title screen it just stops letting me type after a while -

Message to hackers from all around the globe! ( No hacking content! )
thelonewarrior replied to Toperek1990 (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
No what I meant was there was a massive decrease in the hackers that managed to do any real damage before we detected them, although the decease was massive I was still being killed in stupid ways at least once a day by hackers The anti back was detecting those which resulted in a big decease but the admins were still having to keep banning people which just got tedious so they gave up and shut down the server for good because we rarely got to play Anti cheat detected them, we issued the bans Although it was effective there was still way too much work involved (for unpaid admins) to keep banning people, every day someone would teleport, anti cheat picked it up and we would ban them I fail to see how someone could see a system working like that and not think "hey that worked, let's build on that and see if we can make it better" If I made a game like this,it would be pay monthly to play which would fund the wages of dedicated admins monitoring servers with an alert system if players suspected a hacker, then the admin could come and confirm it and I'd happily pay for a service like that But that would be a perfect world -

Well actually he obviously doesn't know, because the link I provided earlier was an investigation into game cheating and the hackers were basically laughing at the anti hacks because they are slow to ban people (like battleye it does it on waves) They say they have their hacks back and able to bypass the anti cheats in a matter of hours, days at the most And I was doing it wrong because hackers forced me out of the mod? Lucky for you I can't post my videos of meeting around 5 hackers every time I played where they would Constantly nuke the servers, take everyone's gear, turn them into wild boars, air strike you, make you dance Because posting these videos is against the rules, EVERY day this would go on Tell me, what was I doing wrong here? It's funny how server admins created their own anti chests and hackers dropped by like 90% in the mod And yet battleye don't employ anything nearly as effective -

I don't know, does telling a child to look both ways when crossing a road teach them to be aware of the danger?Talking about the problem has the same effect, it let's people become more aware of what hackers are capable of and what kind of things to watch out for And let's people share their ideas on how we might be able to help find ways to prevent it in the future For example a lot of people confuse hacks and desych, because they arnt well informed what each thing could do, those kind of people might not understand and think the games just buggy when some guy teleports to them and kills them and not even report it in any way Without people knowing what they could be facing, a lot of people will just put it down to game mechanics And it gives people a chance to voice thier ideas such as forcing the steam name as the player name so if a hacker reveals themself (which I've seen some videos of hackers giving free loot and even giving their in game name) Then at least we have a chance to catch them if we put our heads together, no one in their right mind would oppose us discussing ways and ideas against hacking, yet here we are in a place where any hack related post will be locked, which doesn't help at all as a lot of them are discussing ways to help fight it which should be everyone's concern -
Simple Question: How good are the new implemented antihack features working?
thelonewarrior replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
I hate to say it. but that's what I thought This is what I posted a while ago and was given a warning by the Mods not to say this, implying I would be temporarily banned if I continued saying things like this -
Simple Question: How good are the new implemented antihack features working?
thelonewarrior replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
Anyway heres where my info comes from: (READ all 3 pages!!! I missed them the first time) This applys to VAC, which I know isn't involved with dayz, but it also applies to any game, it just use the games in the article as an example http://www.pcgamer.com/hacks-an-investigation-into-aimbot-dealers-wallhack-users-and-the-million-dollar-business-of-video-game-cheating/ and I quote from the lead hacks developer "Tripwire closes loopholes as fast as possible, but Ultra Cheats is fast too. If a vendor's cheat stops working, Ultra Cheats stops selling it and the money stops flowing. Detected cheats come back online within hours, days at the most. And these are only the cheats that we know about. “Anti-cheat can't detect what it can't get its hands on,” as Slayer said. Between that and the proficient closet cheaters, I can guarantee that you've played with way more cheaters than you think." Battleye are trying ill give them that, but anyone who does a little research will discover that most people use a small hack to get an advantage (I said in another post I played alongside a hacker in the mod for over a month without knowing, a proper hacker, not a script kiddie, he knew all the tricks to get around battleye and it wasn't until after 1 month of hacking and NOT showing anything suspicious on the logs that he admitted it to me after he was banned, he then simply used another steam account and was back in action as he had bought 10+ copies of the game on a sale weekend) Battleye ban and the updates prevent hacks, yet we keep seeing them, so my predication is this circle will continue forever until the game gets abandoned like the mod did Once the admin tools were in and we learned to use the logs to see who killed who, most obvious hackers were banned, what we really need is decent admin tools that cant be abused, like seeing how much damage players are taking, how fast they are moving (but no locations) ect to weed out hackers Battleye ban and the Devs patch the game, but I think this circle will continue until the game gets abandoned like the mod because lets face it, they wont spend the next 10 years patching the game to keep up with hackers -
Simple Question: How good are the new implemented antihack features working?
thelonewarrior replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
I agree that talking about hacks won't crate new hackers EctI can't say what I really think because it will get me banned from the forum, I got a warning before for saying what I think the real reasons are for them closing ANY post about hackers and hacking This thread will likely get closed soon, with the standard response I wish it wasn't that way on here, but it is -
Simple Question: How good are the new implemented antihack features working?
thelonewarrior replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
My guess is that most hacks are now blocked or patched and in a couple of days they will start to leak through again and the hackers will find a way around it, that's what usually happens ESP or any other hack will follow the same course At the moment I think your fairly safe, but after a week at the most you won't be -

Exactly And yet they are allowed to start a new steam account, buy the game again and continue hacking, their IP address should be banned from creating a steam account and they should be forced to buy a new computer to cheat again And if you think money is an issue, a lot of hackers (real hackers) sell hacks and can easily afford £30 or $30 a week to keep doing this Read this http://www.pcgamer.com/hacks-an-investigation-into-aimbot-dealers-wallhack-users-and-the-million-dollar-business-of-video-game-cheating/ if you don't believe me I also used to play with a hacker, which I didn't know about for around 1 month despite having access to the logs in the Dayz MOD, nothing showed up at all when he finally admitted it he said that his hacks were virtually undetectable, which they were, and that he usually got banned once a month on average and just bought the game again to hack -

Yeah, because ignoring something always makes it better Whether or not people say anything about them isn't going to change their mind, they arnt magically going to go away if you don't give them attention they don't suddenly think "OMG no one gives a crap about my hacking, im gonna stop right now" Ignoring them provokes them as much as raging about them, im sure there are plenty of hackers who don't even come here for the attention they just want to ruin peoples day, this will likely get locked by the Devs because its talking about hacking Its laughable to think that, you really think they would stop killing you over and over if you kept respawning and ignored them? Opposed to calling them every name under the sun? They will do it either way I think people really need to address the issue instead of hiding from it, hackers are one of the things that pushed me away from the mod, and ive seen a lot in the SA too. Here we are a year on, no new tools or ways to even detect hackers or even report them, I would get my own server if they simply had basic tools to see who is killing who and logs telling you things like if a player was suddenly bombarded by 400 rounds and didn't die, most likely a hacker It shouldn't be hard to record damage in a readable way for admins, amoung other things I guarantee in 2 years time, this shit will unfortunately still be a common thing, just like the mod -
Hate to burst your bubble but I once hid in a toilet from some bandits and realised I was stuck, after swinging the mouse around for a few minutes the icon appeared and I was able to open the door, its hard to find, but its there unless they changed something, you should still be able to get out

Servers with connection issues to central hive
thelonewarrior replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
I would ignore servers that say: Don't join or reset character Not a single one of these has reset my character, these servers are owned by people who farm them and kick other players
