This is exactly my policy. I play the game to 'survive' not to murder. Ive had plenty of chances to kill people when they didnt know I was there, even when I was desperate for supplies I could have shot a guy who had just ran out of ammo in his shotgun, but I called out Ill trade some food and water for 8 shells. He gracefully declined saying he had none himself and thanked me for not shooting him and carried on. Just because he has something I need doesnt mean I had to murder him and ruin his game. I am wary though, as once I noticed two people following me. So I started talking on the mike to myself as though I was on skype 'Are you guys in the barn? dont shoot its me coming in' Best way to deal with bandits? Make out you have friends nearby, my friend and I also did this when he was watching me play the game for the first time. I said over the mike 'see those two guys aiming at me, keep them in your scope and if they shoot then open up on them' he replied on the same mike 'will do, I have them covered, they are looking around for me but havent seen me yet' I survive at any cost, except by taking another's life. They may be good or evil, but when the world goes to shit, someone has to keep their head and think before shooting. I have been known to steal items from peoples backpacks, but I usually do it for fun and take some low value items and replace them with a load of empty cans while they are camping or scoping out a town with binoculars

Hey, I saw the player barney stinston in my game. He was on the list when I logged in, my friend got broken bones and I was thinking of heading to cherno to find a hospital for some morphine. The only reason I know that name is because its a characters name from 'how I met your mother' You werent by any chance the guy who snapped up an enfield in a barn and ran the other way when he saw me and my friend laying by a house? It was near cherno I also saw it come up just before I saw that guy that barney stinston had died, I remember the name antti as well I think, small world huh? If that was you I saw, I wasnt going to shoot I was going to ask for morphine but that guy pegged it and was probably out of range before I typed it

I havent murdered anyone but I went onto a server the other day and I appeared in elektro (I lost connection while passing through, I didnt want to be there so tried another server) Straight away I hear a voice on the mike 'its your turn guys' 'Ok we are moving up to the truck' So I see three guys get in a truck and drive off, I wait a bit longer and the direct chat mike conversation continues 'how long until their back?' 'Probably and hour or two', when they get back they will take over' 'Then its our turn? what do we do until then?' 'Just leave your game running, if you see someone shoot them' Anyway, there was a lot more talking, but basically these bandits sit and snipe, leaving their game running ALL DAY and return to playing and shoot anyone they see, their friends were doing truck runs up north and getting ammo etc. This is kinda sad, all they did was sit there and talk like it was a chat room and didnt even play the game Its not the first time ive seen this either

Is there a problem with the ping of other peoples games today? Normally the best ping I see is 64 (seems capped at this I never see better) But today I went to play a game and they are all at least 6-700ping with only at the most 10 players in a server. I cant join a server with that much ping, I would be lag murdered before I moved Is this an issue my end or are other people getting it too?

BUMP Cant even play now, Im instant kicked from every server for having too high a ping. Anyone else getting 700+ ping minimum? Normally its about 60 - 70 now its shot up into the 700 - 900 then a massive jump to 9999

1. Weapons can be hard to find sometimes, however i have had a lot of luck (when starting from the beach) by searching barns. You can sometimes find a double barrel shotgun or a basic sighted rifle there, but in general weapons do spawn more in areas that you would expect them 2. LINE OF SIGHT Never creep around in the open and dont keep moving, check your surroundings, select the best route and crouch run from cover to cover and check again, if in doubt flee into a building as zombies can run in there, it will buy you some time if your being chased. 3. Yes you can identify buildings once you play a bit more, barns and factories are the most noticiable as they usually always have open doors to them. Sometime guard huts can be entered and places like firestations etc are the obvious ones in the cities. Churchs are the easiest to find, but most of the time a sniper is waiting for you to go inside.

Sounds like someone threw a hand grenade at you. That makes a loud bang, will probably break your bones, knock you unconcious and it lights u with a bright flash for a second Thing is I accidently threw a grenade at myself the first time I used one, I didnt lose any blood but everything got messed up, blood, shock, broken bones.....you name it

Ive had this as well I then found one that instantly threw me into the game (im talking 10 seconds) while others got stuck forever. I think it may be your internet having trouble connecting to certain servers as thats what I believe my same problem was, all I know is eventually I found a server that worked and it was damm fast

Well this happend to me, I was inches away from a dead player with an M4 and what looked like about 5 clips. Server crashes and I have to go to another one. When I get there I start again on the beach, but this time I started with a hachet and loads of bandages for some reason I lost all my hunting gear, but had only just started, so when I came back I got a free hachet

Ive used it before when I went into a building and a really bad shot missed a whole mag of automatic rifle rounds at me. Sealing off the entrances slows them down, if you have a team its faster, but I managed to seal off the two entrances and wait. When I saw a guy approach I threw a smoke grenade to attract zombies, he legged it and I managed to escape using those tactics

I havent really sealed off buildings and ive never killed anyone yet, but today a noob went into a lighthouse (I could tell by the way he swung the hachet around and misses a single zombie about 10 times) He went in and climbed the ladder, I went and put a tank trap and two walls of barb wire there and went back to the bushes and waited. He spent the next 10mins trying to work out what had happened, and obviously didnt know the jump button. Eventually he figured it out but couldnt get over them, so he made a jump from the lighthouse instead. .....technically I didnt kill him

I have to say the first time I went there I didnt have a clue what it was. I started climbing the tower and saw a body crawling at the top and bleeding. I offered my help, got to the top of the ladder and it came up 'UNKNOWN' on the player tag when I looked aroudn to make sure it wasnt an ambush, im telling you I couldnt see anyone but the tag said UNKNOWN 4metres A second later...... BAMBAMBAMBAM BAMBAMBAMBAM BAMBAMBAMBAM BAMBAMBAMBAM BAMBAMBAMBAM BAMBAMBAMBAM A whole AK clip from nowhere hit me, couldnt even see the muzzle flash and it was dark

Every time I lauch it, it updates the game etc. but says bad version for every game I join, its only started this today So how can I force the game to update to the correct version?

Heres a reason to ignore all of those reasons in the zombie apocalypse. Your generation would be the last if you killed on sight as no one would be there to carry on the human race Lets say for a moment that the unthinkable day z has arrived in real life. I would shoot to defend myself or my people, anyone wishing to join us would have to surrender their weapons etc until they can be trusted, it would be their price to share our food etc and I would make them work hard until I think they can be trusted. If someone looked odd, or untrustworthy (see the walking dead episode where two guys keep asking questions to rick, how many of you are there? Where is your camp? What weapons have you got? Do you have women?, these questions thrown into a conversation would make me immdietly suspicious) If I were forced to shoot, I would take out their shooting arm only, this is enough to cripple them and less likely to be padded with a flak jacket of some kind. I have no problem shooting someone in this situation as I know I would not be aiming to kill (unless we were forced to) Then I would leave them to die for trying to rob us etc, only in a real firefight do I need to kill And what was that bullshit about women? Their are female soldiers in the armies around the world, female police officers in every country more or less, they know how to fight, shoot and can probably do it as well as us guys, that point isnt even valid, you make it sound like they will spent the entire apocolypse crying in the corner, which I think half of the so called 'hard boys' would do the same, shit themselves And a last thing,when your staring down someone it isnt easy to pull the trigger in real life. The only reason this happens in game is because it has no conciquences, you can hide behind a computer and the guy you killed can never find you. In real life people have friends and other people looking out for them I think your under the impression that if you die in real life, you will just respawn on the beach.........good luck with that

Today my friend joined dayz for the first time, we meet up but he was unable to see my text while I used direct chat or any of the other chat options And I was only able to see parts of what he said, some messages came through and others didnt The connection was fine, as earlier I saw people talking on global chat (yes it was one of the few servers that allow it, they do still exist as I was told not to talk on it or the server may crash) This makes me think, perhaps the reason people stare at you for a few seconds while seemingly doing nothing is them saying as well as you that they are friendly and want you to back off etc. Obviously those that shoot on sight it is different, but ive read so many stories of people complaining that they try and talk to people and get no response, but what if both parties are saying: 'Are you friendly?' Or I normally say 'I dont want a fight, back up or ill shoot' What if the messages are actually being written......but not always recieved, this could explain perhaps half of the encounters that end badly. Myself I am taking to using the microphone all the time, as other players always seem to hear this and I suggest everyone else invests in one. Im not saying all encounters are like this, but think for a moment.....if there is a problem with the chat on direct chat that some players cant see it, then this explains why people seem to be typing but there is only silence, which they interprit as hostile thoughts?

There was the one time when my backpack ate my enfield and I then got pinned down in a building and bled to death because I couldnt fire back

So im happy to say today I found a player that wasnt shoot on sight. I was creeping through the city when this guy comes sprinting around a corner (its night by the way) with a shotgun. This guy aint stopping, armed with an AK I aimed at him wondering if he had seen me and I get 'dont shoot just fucking run' over the microphone and sure enough the screen becomes thick with zombies and I turn and run. S0 about 5 adrenaline fueled fleeing minutes later I find myself running down the road in the dark when I see a tower I can run into which is by some hangers, I run inside and the same guy is in there surrounded by dead zombies on the stairs and bleeding. Theres a moment we both freeze aiming at each other, but hearing the screams of what has to be 50 plus zombies All I get on the mike this time is 'we gonna die here arnt we?' 'Not without a fight' I say back So I bandage the guy and my ak and his shotgun fill the stairs up with zombies, he falls back to switch to his hachet and I switch to my handgun unloading into this swarm that just doesnt stop coming. Anyway we head up to the top of the tower and go for the ladder but the bottom is surrounded, ive honestly never seen so many zombies in my life. We bite the bullet and light up all our flares, I have 2 pistol rounds left and all he has is his hachet. I fire my rounds into the crowd and we both hack our way through, but as we do they take me down to uncocious and the last thing I see is the guy sprinting out the door into the night. Hope he made it

This game has to be the most intense game ive ever played. Here my two cents: It combines stealth, tactics, navigation, firefights, and of course zombies. The adrenaline when your running from a horde makes you feel like you are the character, that you are the one running from the horde, you can almost feel them clawing at your back. The moments of panic when you bump into another player in the dark and you both fire randomly and miss completely. Each moment in this game feels like a scene from a movie, running through a forest, into a house at night to make a last stand with you hatchet or just slugging it out with a desperate survivor. The game punishes you for just a slight mistake, but at the same time rewards you if you stick with it

Wait what? I heard and saw a chopper while playing yesterday, it was on a UK server. No mistake I saw it flying pretty close

I wouldnt reccomend trying to jump it, I did this once and all was fine for about two seconds then my legs broke and I died a few seconds later I was inside, facing the door, no where for a sniper to get me. Lesson learned, I now avoid barb wire like its a bad smell
