It's true pistols arnt that great However they have one advantage over rifles While indoors you can turn a bit faster with a pistol up than a rifle, so if your any good at close range headshots the pistol will usually win in a situation where two people round a corner, one with a rifle and one with a pistol (and with current damage taking 5 hits from a automatic rifle to kill, pistol has a very minor advantage if your aiming for a quick kill Overall they arnt any good, but indoors if take one out over a rifle, but it's very borderline Also depending on your play style, a sidearm can be hidden on a newspawn I've been killed by "newspawns" who have a hidden handgun given by a friend to act as bait And I've also baited bandits by having a friend give me a handgun as a newspawn and sniper cover me while I go and talk to bandits who are kidnapping/ handcuffing newspawns Ect If a bandit is holding you up and you appear to be a newspawn, you have no idea how little they watch you Also, as soon as you equip the handgun via hotkey, spam the fire button straight away Even though the gun isn't aimed fully, the bullets still go where the crosshairs are

Yeah I played a bit recently Two guys ambushed me, took a good 5-8 AKM rounds to drop one and he was just pissing out blood (I used the scope and lost count after 5 blood splatters showing up but was about 8) The second guy I aimed and shot him in the head Went back to the first guy who was bandaging and killed him I also got shot 3 times in the fight with a mosin and once with a shotgun, was low on blood but made it out I had any military clothing and a vest but they had basic clothing and backpacks

Yeah I can confirm there are issues with them too I spoke to a popular friendly group a while back who showed them no aggression and even went out of their way to help them at one point and were met with hostility I've ran into them twice The first was when we did a huge friendly operation with the CQF and the UN basically PMed me saying that they have every right to TAKE OVER as we lack experience In the game (2 years on the mod and 6 monthes SA not good enough for them) I said it was best they didn't attend yet they still joined the server The second time I happened upon a server with around 10 UN members online and ran into 4 guys in zelenogorsk Seeing as only 3 other players were not UN at least one guy must have been with them Long story short, I went down and called out to them, they started looking around without a word and when I peeked out from a wall without my weapon drawn one spotted me and took some M4 shots and got me once or twice so I backed off saying "screw this I thought you guys were alright" Still no response, I tried to get away, the followed, killed one and the others killed me After I was dead they called me a "dumb shit, if you hadn't fired back at us we would have let you live" Doubt it

This happened to me once, I left a weight on the button and left it running while following the compass south and running I didn't die of starvation for some reason and 2 server restarts later (that's 6 hours of running btw) I still hadn't found civilisation, this was back when you could reset your character by joining servers and leaving over and over so I managed to reset my character after someone told me how So it's possible to be stuck there forever I guess I don't know if that method still works

I accidently misfired with a pistol and it ricorshaded and killed me, there was no one else on the server Still no one believes it possible and even though ive tried to do it again ive never been able to recreate it

Got to say I did this once and it worked I saw a pile of body's at NEAF and a guy shot at me (i went prone and looked at the ground as I had no gun) It looks exactly like your dead but you have to look down in third person He came running down to check me, I stood up Punched and knocked him out and took his gun Didn't even need a fancy animation for it

Yeah one do the reasons I've given up playing, too many cheaters and glitchers Battleye bans them, they just buy a new copy, you can't stop them with the current system There are plenty of hackers with money to waste, and when they buy a new copy everyone except the legit player is happy The hackers are still as much of a problem as they were 2 years ago in the mod, there has been little if any improvement in stopping them I've seen everything to being teleported to a group of guys and gunned down, super fast people, I watched a group of 6 get wiped out by a guy teleporting behind them one at a time, I logged out as quick as I could but was dead upon joining another server Seen people flying, walking through and shooting through walls Guys who are invincible who take out a whole group and just stand there soaking up bullets Had my weapon put away straight after engaging someone Aimbots, people tracking me every move when they can't see me behind a wall and kill me from 100m away with a pistol headshot firing 1 shot My favourite is still the time a joined a server that was empty after a restart, 1 guy joins and I'm killed by a infinate full auto sawn off shotgun, seeing as I'm 1000m away from any city in the far north exploring it's highly unlikely he spawned in there right where I was, he also left the server straight away Yay for battleye, good job! 2 years on and the hackers are still outwitting you

I saw a guy called "I have hax" in the server list I decided to play after some time away and logged in, 30 seconds later I'm shot with one distant shot and I see a guy walking on the air and he goes through the side of the crane I'm on (I was pressing escape to see around me after death) he walks through the wall and then hides my body before speeding off through the air So the first person I ran into after not playing for months was a hacker Don't think I'll be coming back again now

Na, I was looting the body of a guy at berezino after my friend and the sniper had a sniper duel when his buddy came up behind me and spawmmed an M4, I managed to turn and kill him though and we both ended up dying

From my experiences with them they have worked in the past 1 time I got ambushed by an m4 guy, I took 8-9 rounds to the body and had enough time to kill him as well (Though I went unconcious an he died right afterwards to bleeding out) The other time I had a pristine press vest and was shot 3 times with a mosin and still lived The first 2 shots did no damage at all to me and the third made me bleed, but I still managed to live and kill him thanks to the vest I can't vouch for recent patches but in the past they have been more useful then not wearing one

I think the OP was one of those guys who thinks combat logging (when it was possible) is a viable tactic If it were still possible you would probably be defending it saying the same as here "if it's in the game we will exploit it" That's no different on a level of cheating that this is

If they just made it so if you use suicide too much you always spawn at the same location for 1 hour (or the next 10 times) if you use it, and when you die without using the button it resets this back to normal (1 hour still applies to stop jumping off something as an alternate option) This way if your stuck you can use it to escape, but on the 3rd press it adds this feature Problem solved, and if it annoys you? Tough shit, don't abuse the system

If the game crashes, you still get a timer I've always had to wait a ridiculous amount of time when my game has crashed when trying to rejoin the same server

The only solution I found was to favourite the server before hand, log in, wait until reaches 0, log out, log in, wait to reaches 0 On the third attempt it usually displays less than 99 seconds and then loads when it reaches 0 Hasn't failed for me so fsr

I've encountered a lot of hackers I'd like to point our something interesting In the last 3 days I've encountered a massive increase in cheaters and hackers in other games too Are the script makers having a sale or something?

Just like to add, I was banned (not kicked, BANNED) from a dayz standalone server after I kept joining it after being kicked It was a clan server with about 10 guys in the same clan As they were obviously kicking me manually my plan was to troll them as they were looting it for themselves without letting people join I then got banned, and contacted their provider with a screenshot Ect Server was still up about a month later, still banned and no response to 3 emails At this time, no one gives a shit, if they own a server and want to abuse it, they can, and nothing can be done I want to see ZERO extra admin features added, they are already abusing the system and any more admin tools that get added will most likely put me off for good, there was so much in the mod and it's already begun in the SA Down with admin tools, ban and kick only and shut down the 1 hour restart or any server that says join = kick

It is baffling A while ago I saw 5 guys right after a server restart, heading into one of the police buildings I wasn't a freshspawn so I decided to wait them out, some time passed and a couple of fresh spawns came by, entered and obviously got shot I could hear the freshspawn ask them "what was the point" Their reply "we only kill Bambi's" (LOL Really?) Long story short, I managed to pick one off as he went to close the main door, and another who foolishly went to the roof to try and spot me, later they start trying to taunt me in direct, saying I'm a pussy camper (again.....REALLY????) And that I should come out from hiding to fight Then I'm accused of wall glitching, so I fire a few shot now and again at the building from the bushes to scare them Their dead friend returns as a freshie and takes a long look around in all the buildings, doesn't even come near the trees Next I'm told I'm a hacker, who is obviously invisible I say "no, I'm hiding outside" And of course they say that their friend searched everywhere for me so I must be hacking and that I've been reported So anyway I see a five man clan start to dissapear from the server list and rush the building, I shoot 1 guy who is still in the game and one of his friends gets me, at which point I'm told something g along these lines: "See what you get faggot, can't even kills us with hacks noob" BLAH BLAH BLAH These kind of people do it to boost their ego and make themselves think they are winning and usually panic or claim your a hacker if you manage to beat them

I've had this too, one of the reasons I've stopped playing at allI didn't want to make a thread about it as I'd only be accused of server hopping For example I left a server after the population decreased from about 30 to 5 and had been on the server over an hour, would then get 99 seconds like you said, but over and over Or when I've joined the wrong server trying to meet with friends (as the server list moves when refreshing) I've had to make them wait a good 5 mins while I keep re trying to join the server It's also happened when I've tried to join a server after not being able to find the same one after a restart It doesn't seem to happen to everyone, but some people I've played with a Have the same problem, but others don't at all Worst thing is, they confirmed I was standing in the game once "please wait" appeared Indefinatly so I can be killed this way
