Your way of saying "friendly"

My friendly way of making contact, I snipe bandits attacking the player who is unarmed or snipe zeds when they are trapped and down to their sidearm or I think they are in trouble. They carefully creep out minutes later wondering just what the hell happened to the zombies or bandit and why no one is now shooting them. I usually leave a zed or 2 nearby so when they break cover I snipe the zombies in front of them so they know im not going to kill them.....doesnt stop them running away though in panic most of the time. Then I dissappear. I rarely have to make contact with another player, 18 days now with no up close contact. One or two snipers have seen me, but still im doing well. Killed bandits that killing other players and avoiding the close up meetings. When I have to make contact, which is rare, I make sure to take cover before speaking, in which case I tell them im friendly, but if you dont drop your weapons or turn and face me ill shoot them......most people turn and then die, but a few just face the wall and wait until im gone. Ill transfuse them and give them supplies if they need it, it doesnt work with groups. If there is more than 1 player in a team, there is little chance any of them will drop their weapons, so saying 'we have you surrounded, we are friendly but if you dont drop those weapons we will kill you' Only time I met a group up close was one that I suspect were friendly as I met them before once, turns out the 7 guys I approached were friendly and gave me a coyote pack and NV goggles just because I have a hero skin :) -

Because everytime you lose connection for one reason or another, which may even be a lag spike you will die. For me I lose connection all the time so if this was the case I would have not even got arma 2 and dayz, because I would never be able to play as where I live the internet is average and can never be upgraded to anything faster. -

Ok, ive been seeing ways around the abort. Alt tab out, dayz commander and click close game cntrl alt and delete and close with task manager These dont seem to show any message to tell everyone that someone disconnected during combat. In fact ive not seen a single message about disconnecting during combat In my latest video, someone did one of these 2 with the latest update running. I really appricieate the effort gone into this, but it doesnt work as there are easy ways around it :( Thanks for trying though -

I get shot with a shotgun on the way to the supermarket in a private server and hide, wait it out but he comes after me. Also this video contains proof that the alt f4 update for 1.7.3 does not work as intended as no messages appeared to show anyone alt f4ing, however he did die as a result of the alt f4 I think as he spawned in dead afterwards, thoughts? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZjkBoFRPtA -

Ok so had another alt f4, got it on video this time. Check out the gallery in about 1 hour of this post, there is no message saying the guy alt f4ed and he returns to the server with no admin ban, although i think the alt f4 caused him to die. Thoughts? -

So tested out 1.7.3, doesnt work at all for the combat system When Im in combat, my abort key takes a good 5 seconds at least before it becomes unavalible, this is not lag, ive tried multiple servers. Fired at someone, they quit and server hopped trying to kill me again. Sorry to burst your bubble, but combat seems exactly the same to me :( What am I missing here? (note I havent tried the abort button even though its still able to be pressed for 5 seconds even when in combat) No offense meant, but nothing seems to have changed I was playing on an updated 1.7.3 server and no message came up when he disconnected, he probably used control, alt, and delete and closed the game with task manager I know the update is working as the zombies are falling down much faster EDIT: All the other updates seem to work fine, hopefully its just my internet connection lagging the abort button, i noticed it was disabled in one server so it could just be lag causing the abort button to not work, but still not seeing messages when people quit -

Just a quick question though, I love this new system but when I get 'no message recieved' will this kill me? Or does the logs somehow register this, sorry I know nothing about the logs. I recieved 'no message recieved' while in combat sometimes, does this actually appear in the logs for my player or count as the same as aborting from the logs point of view? Still it all sounds good, im just worried about the fact that hackers can now just kill people much easier as they cant abort, is there someway to have a damage detection on players and if they take more than 12000 damage and dont die it instantly kicks them? -

Heres my first ever kill: It wasnt really self defence or intentional though -
The team you came up against were well organised. Usually when we have to enter a town, we leave 2 people as sniper cover in 2 seperate locations in case they get spotted so only 1 should get killed. At least 1 usually has thermal for quick spotting, 3-4 guys enter the town and get what we need. Upon encountering other survivors we send 1 guy in to make contact and determine if they are friendly, if they fire, they are then swiftly dealth with. Teamwork rarely works when meeting random strangers, you need guys you can trust. We have a number of tactics for different situations and everyone knows the drills to maximise survival. So far we have rarely lost a fight (except to hackers) Sure we lose people, but the majority of the time its due to our tactics that we survive. Therefore you need a well organised and trusted team to win as a group, one man can easily wipe out a group of unorgainsed bandits. Only yesterday, two of the reuglators came under fire from 3 guys, they bailed from their verchile as 1 regulator was killed. The three guys came running straight in and the remaining regulator hid and picked them off one by one with only a winchester, their mistake is they got too greedy and didnt search the area for him which resulted in them all paying for it

What are your thoughts? Now death messages appear like this, on most private hives:(example) Bob was killed by Bandit 1 with AS50 TWS What are your thoughts? I saw a hacker get owned by this. His name came up he was killing people, it got to 3 people he had killed with a TWS AS50 and he claimed his innocence even though all 3 were at different points in the map according to side chat. Is this good or bad? Its catching hackers out fast, so I vote its a good thing even though it means you now know who betrayed or shot you :) Heres a pic: Death message -

Well fair enough its probably that, it just started after I updated my arma 2 from the last update, but it seems everyone has it right now, and if they dont they should get it. At the very least it saves a lot of games ruined from hackers -

Not sure, all i know is since the last arma update, every server ive been on (except chenarus map) has had these death messages appear, but only on servers that are fully up to date with all updates and mods -

I have a story. Spawned at the old hospital, hearing M4 shots straight away. I find myself a winchester in the office building and head up to the crane to spot the guy shooting, I suspect he is shooting unarmed players as Ive seen 2 names come up and hear impact hits on flesh. I scope around and finnally see a guy laying on the roof of a building with the M4 shooting at a unarmed player. I stand up and aim at him, his head swivels around and looks at me, he was probably checking to see if anyone was on any rooftops without adjusting his aim. He alt f4s and my bullet hits the ground where his head would have been, fucking coward -
Dayz and its realisam, banditry and less ammo

There has always been two sides to the argument about dayz in real life, people would shoot on sight and become psycopaths or everyone would band together to survive. We all know there would be some of both, but obviously minus the hackers, duping, masses of food and ammunition it would be very simple to stop spawn killing and meaningless slaughter if only there were a realistic amount of ammo. People want to claim they like it the way it is, but finding 50 mags for an AS50 or even a M16 is virtually impossible in real life. Any weapon you find will have most 3-5 mags on average per soldier (if you find an assault rifle there) So what im proposing is far less ammo in the standalone. If your a bandit camping and the rifle you have found only has 10 rounds, are you really going to use it on an unarmed player that has nothing when around the corner could be a fully geared up player with 2-3 stagnag mags who is a real threat (which this much ammo should be a luxury) Bandits would be more likely to rob people than shoot them, only stupid people would waste their precious ammo on people that are no threat. Obviously this takes into account theres no way to hack, dupe or otherwise cheat ammo and weapons into the game, but I would like to see someone mod a map to use this as an experiment. Maybe only have ammo when you find the weapon, and not just laying in every house and office building. THIS IS NOT ABOUT REDUCING PVP., ITS ABOUT MAKING IT MORE TACTICAL I simply would enjoy the game so much more if I and everyone had less ammo to spam making it more realisitc (most likely most of the ammo would have been used by the military in the initial outbreak of zeds, leaving only the few things they left behind laying around) This would also seperate the noobs from the veteran players on sight. Noobs running around with a couple of rounds firing at everything attracting zeds and getting mauled, It would make players think more on their feet and having to weigh up whether firing and using their last few rounds is worth the risk. So let the flaming begin, im sure many of you bandits with 18 NATO AS50 mags have plenty to say (which i imagine only negative responses will be from those kind of people who like to dupe ammo and never care about how much they spam) -

Thats just a closed minded approach to the mod, theres plenty to do, just few people see beyond killing people but thats a whole other topics with no point in going into Again, not trying to reduce PVP, just make it more realistic. Removing high level weapons has no effect, ive played on modded maps with no high tier snipers DMR being the longest range weapon avaliable and now everyone on there has a DMR with 100+ rounds and just spams them There is also massive zed increased spawns on the server, this has forced players to be more cautious and stealthy as in cherno you can easily gain 100+ zeds and not have the ammo to deal with them (witth normal ammo spawns) It doesnt stop players killing players because their is too much ammo. Stealth is still the key to survival, but its far too easy to run past the zombies, so why not just make it harder? Carrying 10 rounds opposed to 100 is going to change a lot for a player, wasting them would be stupid and likely get them killed. Maybe some people have a lot of ammo supplies, but the majority wouldnt and theres no way you would be able to carry more than 100-200 rounds with all your other gear you need. Besides, like I said the military would likely seize any of these supplies they come across in the early days for their own use. Im not trying to force a playstyle, im trying to make it harder for all players and not just one type of player. If I wanted to 'force' a playstyle I could say no AS50s and that would only affect snipers Im saying make the game harder in general by reducing ammo, so this affects all players and not one type of player -

I had my DMR randomly turn into a KS something or other, I dont know the name but one time I logged in and instead of a DMR I had a hacked anti material rifle of some kind in my pack. I was offline for about 15 minutes so I dont know what the hell happened. I destroyed it and began a search for a new DMR though It was right after a server restart though, so that could have somehow contributed to it

How to avoid Hackers (Official Hives Only)

Ok great ideas, but you are mistaken about russian servers, it is not a good region. Perhaps in your experience it is, but I have been onto 3 russian servers since I started playing, and every single one of them was full to the teeth with tents and hacked gear. All of elektro, cherno were filled with tents in the streets and buildings as well as the woods in a lot of places. Also, may want to add that hackers cant teleport behind you if you put your back to a wall. If you must fight/ distract them for maybe a teamate who is wounded or needs to loot their body before the hacker hides it, distract the hacker with low level weapons and keep your back to a wall. They will attempt to teleport behind you at some point abd eiether end up on top of the building or stuck in a wall which can confuse them for 5-10 seconds at times giving you the time to log out as they tend to teleport to you if you return to your body and try to loot it, this will give you some precious seconds to grab your weapon and pack and get out of there, ive done it a few times -

You know if battleye employed some people to do this on a regular basis to monitor servers we wouldnt have a hacker problem. Why isnt this mass used on all servers? Or at least enough to stop the problem, great work though! -
After a server reset on a private chenarus server I have just started playing on, I immedietly find myself shot with a winchester without warning. I go unconcious and he leaves, death messages for othe players appear and I figure he thought I was dead. Less than 30 seconds later this happens: You took a risk helping someone and you were a bandit, yet you reached out to help someone when you could have just shot me where I laid. I noticed you aiming at my head afterwards and took off quickly, but thanks anyway my silent friend Its nothing special, but just nice to see someone willing to lend a hand, he couldnt have known I was going to wake up anytime soon and took a risk in helping me even though he was a bandit
