Your first encounter with a player in SA
Recalibar replied to Herkon's topic in New Player Discussion
First time I just saw someone running along the road. I also bumped into some black guy in a house, waved to him, and continued on. I think my 3rd encounter not with a friend was the most interesting, as we ended up shooting at each other. Sadly, everything he had was ruined. -
I just logged off near green mountain. I also killed 2 people there. Didn't see anything unusual. Also, the bodies have been cleaned up, which is a bit disappointing.
-
Maybe we should just have multiple accounts; that way everyone's happy.
-
Clothing is an identifier here. Granted, accidents happen and it's not good to just go run off and grab a new shirt, but still, that's what Dayz will use to tell people apart.
-
#yoloswag #spreadtheword Also, I wish I could go to work playing a video game. Damn.

Running around with music like that blasting is going to be baller until I get shot in the head.

I still have no idea what we're talking about. All I know is that Dean announced a Devblog and the rest were just how people reacted to that information. Much rage was enjoyed reading through this thread. Honestly, there's not a lot to talk about beyond posting emorion-filled reactions to what Dean had to say when he started this thread. Fun fact: Did you know that there are still people who believe that Warz is the standalone for Dayz?
-
"Infested hookers": Survival stories is probably the only thing that actually kept Dayz from launching shortly after December, honestly. After the terribleness of that game, it's no wonder Dean takes his time and doesn't dive right into it.

It actually happened to me as well after I posted a video featuring a pretty accurate description of Call of duty montages as a joke describing what I was doing to pass the time until the Standalone/Devblog. You just didn't catch them. Made me feel kinda like this guy: I gave beans after I saw your post earlier, made me feel less lonely/misunderstood/probably just as annoying.

Sorry, this is an announcement thread announcing another announcement on the Devblog. You might want to come back in a week.

Don't forget the entire new island off the coast of Chernarus. Or was that dropped?
-
No, we're talking about Hitler and the Nazi Regime. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin%27s_law In the meantime, I'm still obsessively clicking the refesh button on my browser on the devblog page.

All defines how you define a government. A system of organization or a structure of power. My opinion, the only true democracy consists of two people, and most of the time when I'm playing the mod, when I'm playing with more than one other person, the "Everyone has a fair say" structure really breaks down. I find that a group of 2 is about optimal when it comes to organization and survival. If you and your buddy dissagree, there's always going to be some solution where you're both organized. Where groups of more than two work, there's almost always some sort of leader figure making calls that carry more weight- else the group typically falls apart. The problem becomes worse with more people. This is all from personal experience playing the mod, however, and my findings may not align with some other playing styles out there.

*nods. Alright, back to topic; who else has been refreshing the dev blog obsessively since this topic opened? Also, maybe we should start an opinion poll to find out just how many people want the alpha now, I'm genuinely curious.
-
He's talking about nuclear war/bioterrorism/holocaust etc (all of which have a much greater chance of being organized by a government) causing apocolypse rather than a zombie outbreak doing it. Another system of government after the fact would actually be likely.* *Edit: Reread the previous post. My apologies.

July Round-up: "I want the alpha" < "I want the alpha to be good"

The vocal minority sometimes seem like the broad majorities. -

Damnit, better tear down my Dean Hall shrine before I make that mistake again. -

It's not going to solve the problem. It will help, but ESP/aimbots don't have to have access to the entire map in order to function. Less hype is a good thing, but more transparency and notability are not bad things. Take special note of Age of Conan, and Warhammer online. Now compare those to the slow build up of, for example, Eve online, which grows in subscriptions every day. I know this only applies to subscription based models, but think of them as active communities in general. The larger the spike, the harder the crash. -
I hope they add a journal type system to Standalone. Something like this would be awesome to find on some player who didn't make it.

How do you perform your acts of banditry?
Recalibar replied to Skypill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I shoot car tires with sniper rifles. -
Oddly enough, I've never actually been killed looting a corpse before. Not sure if I have a second nature about it or not, but I've never really noticed any difference in playstyle.

I split people into three general catagories. Tier 1: Fresh spawn. Might have a makarov or some pistol varient. Hardly ever has cloathing. Tier 2: About your level. Tier 2 and 3 can vary a bit depending on your own status. These people usually come equipped with some sort of gun that can rival your own, may or may not have different cloathing. Tier 3: Always better off than you. More than likely have a ghille suit, sniper rifle/ extra gun/ large backpack, and have friends close by. Generally, if I see these people before they see me: Generally ignore a tier one, but make note of their existance. Might help if I'm feeling generous. Depending on the location or situation, I'll call out to a tier two or kos. I'll stake out a tier 3 to make sure they're alone, or prepare for engagement if they aren't. Generally I'll try to kill them once I know as much as possible about them. I'll never open fire until I know for sure I can hit them and kill them quickly. If they see me first: Try to help out or send away a tier one. Something about bandits or whatnot. Maybe I'd do something more involved with them, like hold them up or whatnot. Never stop moving, but try to respond if talked to. Never stay still. If greeted with bullets, try to identify location and get to cover. Never stop moving, and try to get away as quickly as possible. I don't talk to these people, and I'll try to fight them if I can.

Listening to music. I've switched from dubstep-y stuff to more atmospheric music so I can at least hear some of the sounds around me. First two minutes of Dayz could use some good ambient music.
