Run up and down the long runway, you'll get back to the coast faster than you could ever imagine. -
looking for survivors near the nw airfield
liam@venturefox.com replied to loudpack123's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sounds like a trap, if you're at NWAF, why would you want to head back to the coast? You better learn to navigate via landmarks or you'll never get anywhere in this game -
Proposal: quality pvp, no hacking, no combat logging. Need 1-3 Clans

PvP? You might want to check in the bandit section. -
Feeling A little Awful.

You are an arsehole, just like the thousands of other similar players out there. Yes, that player got the gear and was surviving quite nicely until he decided to trust you. The devs really need to sort this game out, because right now its just turned into a deathmatch orgy - which I can find in more entertaining games. -
I've come across 4 or 5 hackers, on 3 servers, in 3 hours.
liam@venturefox.com replied to Waylay's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So.. you might of encountered 1-2 hackers. The others may be bugs but the first example, you stated yourself that you couldn't see anything through your scope - that he might of had a DMR, how do you know he didn't have NVG? You just sound like a proper whiny bitch. Accept this will happen in an alpha game and either play or move on. I have played this game about 3 weeks now, and while I know there are hackers out there, I have been fortunate never to be affected by one. -
Im looking to play with some friendly gamers. I've been playing Dayz around 2 weeks now, been north a few times and generally know how to navigate around. I've been shot a dozen or so times by other players and it's getting very boring. I think it'll be better having some other players to work with, ideally with some experience but im happy to teach someone the ropes too. My steam account is maktyr and my skype is maktyr. Based in the UK and 24 years old.

Yes, it can be very frustrating. Everyone seems to shoot other players on site by default and I prefer not to do so. It seems like you spend the first hour gearing up and after that you have to be ever so sneaky if you want to keep your kit. After the initial fury at being killed, it can be a relief to start on the beach sometimes because you can run like a crazy man into the town. It's still a pain in the arse to collect everything over each time. The odds for me to meet a friendly player are 1 in 100, unless you meet them out of the game. Steam seems to be broken/down right now so i'll add you once it's back up. -
I'm afraid I've had to advise friends/family against this fine mod (why?)

I agree with the original poster, this has evolved into too much of a PvP game and less about survival from the zombie hoards. It would be nice to have some sort of boobytrap you could place in your bag or around your person that would take out those f*cking useless bandits + destroy your kit after death. Anything to take incentive away from the constant deathmatch battles. -
Hotfix Build 1.7.2.3 Rolling Update
liam@venturefox.com replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
You really should encourage newer players to stick to stable patches. I just went from having hundreds of servers to choose from before installing 1.7.2.3, down to maybe two dozen and most of those are unplayable versions. Nearly 90% of the servers, which I could access before, now show up with an incompatible red X. You really should have a better structure and plan in place when rolling out these patches - because right now it seems you lurch from breaking one thing to the next. You could also better explain how the "rolling update" works because I can guarantee there are a lot of confused people on every upgrade.
