Hello, I've just decided to check up on the DayZ forums after not having played for a while. My goodness the colour scheme you are using is painful on the eyes. Dark red + dark grey on a black/dark colour background is a terribly poor choice but such an easy thing to fix. You need to make the text colour white or light red instead. I dread to think what some colour blind people are discovering.. an unusable site. I appreciate the red colour scheme works well for the zombie niche, but it'll just help destroy the community. Switch a few hex color codes in the CSS file, job done.

Hotfix Build 1.7.2.6 Rolling Update
liam@venturefox.com replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Looks like the latest patch fixed a lot of stuff but with the amount of players online in last 24 hours dropping like a stone, it is too late to recover. After rocket decided to split this into two projects (the upcoming standalone) people just don't feel this ALPHA mod will receive any attention. There is a lot more competition out there with similar platforms in the works by other companies. There have been far too many buggy patches released recently which have totally destroyed the gameplay and community. It's not even the fact that such big mistakes were released in upgrades but the sheer timescale it takes to repeal the clusterfuck. The patch notes are very promising, particularly ammo and saving fixes, but it should not have taken so long to fix. I see DayZ on a downward spiral right now, it would take a miracle to correct it. -
"I'm not going to make the mistake of releasing a patch before it is ready." That's funny because you've managed to screw up the last 3 patches to varying degrees. We need a damn hotfix for vehicles and tents before anything else, you're just bleeding players right now because the game gets boring without them. I gave up playing about a week and a half ago, because since your piss-poor testing of patches results in at least one major fuckup per patch, it became too much. You established such an amazing mod, yet you totally fail to see the important bits of it that keep players HOOKED, once you start breaking them then you're no better than many other games.

Sort the damn tents and vehicle saving out, in a game without any true objectives these are core elements that you've managed to break in the last patch. The alpha test is going to be burnt to a cinder unless these items are fixed pronto. You should also put some damn quality control into your patches, stop releasing small (buggy) fixes which somehow manage to break massive chunks of the game which keep people addicted. I stopped playing about a week ago, because without tents and vehicles the game is rubbish. I've been watching the Dayzmod homepage every few days and see the players last active within 24 hours dropping by tens of thousands each time I check back. At this pace there will be no players left in a month! Forget all the momentum building up to the standalone when you've pissed off most players and server admins like this!

Thermal vision. Does it belong in this game?
liam@venturefox.com replied to galhast's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would agree with you about the L85 needing to be removed, if it didn't spray like a mental patient with rabies. It's probably because I suck at shooting, but I had an L85 yesterday and fired at someone 20 meters away from me several time. Fuck knows where the bullets went but none of them hit. So yes, I basically consider it as just a thermal scope mounted on a rather large handle. -
Invalid ban from UK 119
liam@venturefox.com replied to Churches's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This happens on every server, you click that button, you get kicked (or in this case banned). There is no reason for the button to be there for the public to see and I have been kicked once for clicking out of curiosity. You should not be banning people for a single instance of this occurring as it could be a purely innocent error. Any more than once and they deserve a ban most likely. -
DayZ Standalone Confirmed
liam@venturefox.com replied to griffinz's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
This is fantastic news and it will be great to have a more complete engine which is less prone to cheating. It would be better to see development instead of support for the DayZ mod, although this would obviously have to be offloaded to someone with Rockets vision. -
Trading a Bizon PP-19 SD with a 1 mag for best offer (prefered sniper)
liam@venturefox.com replied to reeddreed's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Future advice: No sniper rifle, besides maybe a CZ 550, is worth swapping for that rubbish Bizon. Unorthodox clearly never intended to complete a trade and it was always going to be an ambush. -

Balota, worth it for new spawns?
liam@venturefox.com replied to SwitchBlayd's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's definitely worth visiting as a fresh spawn because you have nothing to lose and might just find a very decent gun. The deerstands next to the airstrip holds some loot but also spawn a lot of zombies in return. I always feel free to charge into anywhere when starting anew as it makes gearing up a lot quicker. -
Under 9000 health and zombie's "random" super-punch.
liam@venturefox.com replied to Anton17's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Zombies too easy. Zombies too hard. Make your damn minds up. You should not be in a dangerous area like a town if you have anything less than 12,000 blood and the problem is solved, it's not hard to understand? -
It's hard to tell if you're a troll or really that stupid. You talk about business logic, then ramble about people who like to ruin other peoples days? I lost your trail of argument there and it's hard to pick it up later on. Newsflash, Rocket and Bohemia Interactive own all the legal rights over Dayz/Arma 2. If you want to use their software legally then you damn well stick within the terms. Sure, you are welcome to set up your own illegally ran hive servers which are the equivalent of pirated software. They could send the lawyers after anyone doing this for intellectual property infringement but they are more interested in spending their time on more constructive things. All of your writing is for nothing. The individual people making complaints is NOT what gets servers shut down. It is the hosting provider, sometimes in coordination with the Dayz team, deciding the close servers. By doing this, they are reducing their own revenue stream so of course they have incentive to investigate each complaint thoroughly and hopefully push the renter to clean up their ways. Any host who wants to stay in business will contact the buyer, monitor the server and even try to correct the problem themselves before resorting to shutdowns. ""The DayZ hosting agreement is illegal. A not for profit third party does not, legally, have any right to enforce the terms of service between a service provider, and that service providers clients. First year law students could tell you that and I'm definitely not a first year law student." Maybe go back to first grade, because there are some HUGE holes in your knowledge.

There are very few "RULES" for running a Dayz server, if you can't get them right then you're only contributing skewed data back to the project. It is a priviledge to be able to run a Dayz server, regardless how much you pay for it. It seems there are lots of locked servers now, please tell me how a server which is only used by a handful of people with the password is really contributing anything to the wider community? It isn't. Infact it only makes the game worse, by allowing unfair practises such as weapon farming which can be used against honest players. Get down off your stupid high horse. You may be thanked for running an open server, but don't think because you have thrown money at it you deserve any extras.

[Vert Hosting] DayZ Servers | All maps supported! | New AUSTRALIAN location! | DayZ Unleashed!
liam@venturefox.com replied to FiX (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I may be interested in renting a Dayz server, do you have any I can do a ping test on? Also, how will the admin priviledges be applied to the renters Arma 2 account, do we need to send you any details when ordering? -
As long as I didn't hack it in right?
liam@venturefox.com replied to Flex Plexico's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It seems you are adamant to keep it and seem to be ignoring the advise of other forum members. Personally, I hope you do keep it and get banned because that's the only way some people learn how to play fair. You know it's a hacked weapon, drop it and play the game right.
