Yes that is true. The medium (two sandbags) stash can only hold 1 weapon or tool and 25 regular items and NO backpack. If you want to store many weapons and tools you are still better off with a tent or two. You can still effectively hide single tents and you can easily find places where you can hide two or three tents in a 200m area. Just don't hope to hide tents if you want to build them one beside the other. Put some distance between them this also yields the chance that they're not all found at once should someone stumble across one of them.

Changed thread into a general trading thread. Updated Opening Post accordingly.

Looking for Makarov SD with mags, SA58 CCO and/or RPK
chrithu replied to Saucy (DayZ)'s topic in Trading
I have a Makarov SD with three Mags I believe, have to check. But I suggest keeping hands off of it. That weapon is accurate only at about 5m. Beyond that you will miss headshots on zombies that are standing still. Go for the M9 SD instead. -
Ok some advise from another long time player: Places to avoid when planing to setup camp: Black ForestAround Black and Willow LakeNorth Side of MapWest Side of MapCoastNear (closer than 500 m, if on a common approach direction, closer than 1 km otherwise) to the Hotspots (Cherno, Elektro, NWA, Berezino, Stary Sobor)On the direct travel routes between any two loacations with loot. Why? Because for the first four: That's where Raiders start their sweeps for tents because they are common standart camp loacations. And for the latter three: They have a high risk of your camp being found by coincidence. If you setup camp for yourself you want to find nicely covered places outside of common travel routes. They are hard to find but they are there. As others have said: If possible stick with stashes. But if you want to hide a tent: rocks, bushes and those remains of walls you can see sometimes are your friends. Best if they are a group that provides tight cover from all sides. Single trees even if they look like they cover the tent do NOT work. That is because from a range the tree model becomes less wide while the tent remains about the same. Thus a tent that is perfectly covered within the tree from close up is sticking out like hell from afar. When the tent placing collision was less strict my favorite place were cliffs where I would hid the tents inside gaps that are covered by a bush or two. In those tents are invisible unless you stand right in front of them. On the other hand most people know that and might discover your tent while looking for a position for theirs.

Need Medical Assistance in the Mod? Find a medic here!
chrithu replied to Dr Wasteland MD's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I need a fellow medic to help. I got infected but couldn't find antibiotics. My ingame name is "Chris [MEDIC]" I am VERY low on blood and need antibiotics. I got a bloodbag on me just need the AB and someone to transfuse me. Can offer a transfusion in return. I am currently located in Berezino in the supermarket near the clinic. I can't go elsewhere my char has about 5 minutes to live. I am wearing the normal survivor gear, a machete and a czech backpack. EDIT: Healed again. Thanks to Marion Mic. -
So what do you think DayZ should be defined as?
chrithu replied to khaenz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think most of the playerbase issue can be solved by simply ignoring what the CoDers want. And the Mod Team and the SA Team seem to be able to do that. I mean AS 50 and M 107 got removed aswell as the thermal L85. AB spawnrate will not be dramatically increased. Zombies will eventually become a bigger threat. Anything I hear them say about their plans pretty clearly shows that their priorities are to make the game a survival game first, zombie game second and PvP game third. If at all. The only thing they are doing for PvP is not forbidding it and taking out obviously overpowered weaponry. -
So what do you think DayZ should be defined as?
chrithu replied to khaenz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Definetly a survival game first. At least it's envisioned as one. But with environment being as little a harm as it is in the mod, the mod obbviously fails at it's goal. Then again the mod itself is still considered alpha state meaning it is more a feature experimentation project than a beta or much less a finsihed game. Hunger and thirst are overcome quite easily. The Zombie AI can be tricked. Then there's the point that there only are zombies. What the standalone absolutely needs to focus on most is to make the environment as much a harm as possible to give purpose to both teamplay and banditry. Currently teamplay only is needed because you cannot bloodbag yourself and being a bandit pretty much only means you run around on a manhunt like some sort of psychotic serial killer. What would be needed is areas in which zombies and other potential threats (like zombie birds or zombie dogs) can only be overcome acting as a group. Those areas would hold most of the medical loot needed to overcome injury and disease aswell as superior weaponry or weapon mods. This way as a loner you would absolutely need to trade in order to survive since you can't get the advanced loot yourself. Or you need to shoot people for that stuff. Also being in a group would have a real benefit other than being possibly more secure from other players. -
Melee Weapon Quick Switch Help/Advice
chrithu replied to r4z0r49's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In my view clearly option one. It's the more realistic of the two approaches. The second option sounds too much like easymode. Currently you have to choose wether to go into a city with a melee weapon to keep a low profile versus zombies or have the main weapon out in order to be able to fight other players. In order to swap you have to find a relatively safe place to make the swap in the backpack. In my view that should stay this way as much as possible. It's already a huge benefit that the new inventory system provides the ability to safe 10 slots in the backpack. Instantly changing between main and melee is just too much convenience. Don't make this game another easymode shooter for 12 year olds. There are enough of those already. -
Base building - Why is it so important to everyone?
chrithu replied to m.cab's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well iI personally don't view base building as a must have either. Especially not on it's own. But as somebody mentioned: If there were higher difficulty PvE content added that had rare loot it would be nice to have some place to store that stuff a bit more secure than in a tent that you hope is not found. What I'd like to see lot more than bases is more challenging AI Enemies added. Like Zombie Birds and Dogs for instance. If I were to decide anything about DayZ I'd make the environment as harsh as possible. Being a lonewolfing bandit for instance should have it's risks, like you are absolutely unable to get the best loot because it is guarded by too much and too strong AI to handle on your own. This in turn also means that the guys having that loot are harder targets for bandits too because they have that loot and they are in a group, otherwise they wouldn't have it. Anything that indirectly encourages teamwork in my view is a worthy addition to the game. But all of that stuff is wasted on the mod anyways, because it's to hard to implement in it. I really hope the team has considered such additions down the road when they rewrote the engine for standalone so such stuff could be added easily. -
Ok. I got the rifle, but I am still interested in getting a backup one. I updated the List in the starting post.

+1 Marion Mic Thanks so much for ending my oddyssee for that gun and being so patient. Very nice guy. I recommend considering trades with him.

Fair enough. When I made that post I was annoyed because my home server is down and the admins aren't competent enough to bring it back up within six hours even though those douches charge pretty hefty amounts of money for their servers. In my view - and believe I remember Dean and the others involved in the making stating that they're thinking along the same lines - that is exactly what the game is envisioned to be about. Fighting the environmental hazards such as cold, infections, zombies and other stuff was meant to be the core of the game. Wether you do that through PvP (being a Bandit) or through Scavenging/Exploring is the players individual choice. What's making me tick off and post hostile stuff like I did is the impression that a lot of the people complaining do not get that point because they started with DayZ at a point in time when in fact the game was just about PvP because the environment did not pose a threat and now they think the current increased difficulty vs the environment is undesired and a bug, when in fact it is fully intentional and if it changes it will change to get even harder and surely not easier. And that is a good thing in my view. When I started DayZ was tough to get into. But as someone that has been gaming for nearly 20 years and who despises the forced handholding in 80% of the games of the past 5 years that was the thing I liked the most about it. I want a steep learning curve. I want a game made for experienced gamers.

What's it with people being unable to find Antis?? I find plenty of em on a daily basis. Spots are: Clinics in Cherno, Elektro and Berezino. Medic Tents in Cherno. Military Tents in Cherno and Berezino. Barracks at NWA. Factories in Cherno, Solnichy and South of Polana. Heli Crashes of course. And I also found them in the middle size industrial spots and on deer stands. AB's aren't rare at all. Want something rare? Try to loot a G36 that does not come from someone elses tent or cold hands. Or NVG for that matter. Anyone complaining about being short on AB in my view is both lazy as fuck and too stupid to handle zombies.

Looking again for a G36K. So bump and I updated the opening post and thread title.

Apparently, we're getting a new gear menu UI. Discuss.

Which means? Can't remember ACE precisely. -

chrithu replied to colekern's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Razor announced a change to the Gear Menu UI in the Rolling Changelog. As you can see there now is a field for backpack, a field for the active main weapon and a field named "carrying". Could this mean we will be able to have one main weapon on our back/shoulder and one active in hand? No more using up storage in the backpack for my sniper rifle, while I have my CCO SD in hand? Would be awesome. Edit: Apparently it was said in a LiveStream that this new field is for melee weapons. So we will be able to hold one sidearm, one rifle and one melee weapon ready. -
New Spawn - What Would Your Route Be?
chrithu replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
My route would be to the barns north of cherno then the barns east of cherno until I find a Lee Enfield with enough money then enter cherno, get to high ground and harass any bandit I see. -
Oh. That was over a year ago. Let mess see my first weeks was: Spawn in hit the lay down key and crawl everywhere to avoid zeds. I remember getting killed in the TEC building down in Elektro's Harbour, which took me about half an hour of crawling to get there without attracting a Zombie. Very Intense. On day too I spawned in Komarovo and on the way into the village suddenly had an AKM in hands. Back then I thought I had just auto picked it up while walking through a bush because someone dropped it there. Now of course I know that was the first Time I got hacked. Nevertheless next thing I did was take the roof of Komarovo's TEC building and shoot any player that would come across. ANd off course all those zombies. All in all the first few weeks were VERY INTENSE, because, allthough they weren't I thought Zombies were the biggest threat in the game. I really hope that mod and standalone both achieve the goal of making the zeds a real threat so I can get back that feeling of the first days.

Lucky me. I found a G36K Camo which is nearly the same.

Edit: Ignore this post.

Well played sir.

You sure? The female skin sure has the same amount of facial expressions as Kristen Steward.

;-) When we make the trade for the G36A Camo I can bring 5 bloodbags along if you have some spare SVD Magazines.

Softcore and Hardcore servers for Dayz Satandalone
chrithu replied to v3c1c's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Well that's kind of your fault not the mod's. DayZ was never meant to be a PvP mod. It was meant to be a survival game that of course has an PvP element to it but the emphasize allways was meant to be the survival in a harsh environment aspect. And this was ALLWAYS and CLEARLY communicated by Rocket. Hence in the Standalone they put an tremendous amount of work into making the Zombies a larger threat. And rightly so. If I want to just have some fun PvP in a tactical shooter I play vanilla Arma II Multiplayer or stuff like Battlefield which do this aspect a lot better than DayZ anyways. You can't start moaning now just because the devs are finally starting to put their work where their mouth was all of the time.
