The range pops up like it used to with page up/down along with optics if your gun has them with / but don't see any signs of what firing mode you're currently using. -

T is confirmed to be the firing mode key. I don't see a way to tell what is without firing a few shots though. -

Thanks, I knew I read that T was it somewhere but within the config is assigned to toggle weapons. Is it confirmed at all yet? I need to find some more ammo before attempting it. I might be able to get a friend to try it within the hour though. I'll post if it works or not. I'd assume someone has tested it already though. -
Should combat logging be ban-able?

It'll be nice when they implement private hives and that's the best way to beat combat logging/server hopping along with a timer. -

Rocket has been talking about such a feature since first talking about SA last year. Hopefully they still plan on implementing something like this sometime. -
Silencer not working on M4 Standalone

I haven't come across any SD ammo too. I don't believe it's in game yet like the other guy said. No point in having a silencer without any SD ammo unless you just like the aesthetics of it. -
Thanks for the extra info. I've been using dayzdb.com to look for the new areas added in since SA came out. I'm currently going to explore up around NE like the shipwreck and new town called Guba. It looks like they'll be adding in a lot more buildings/towns I'd assume as it progresses. I love all the little subtle changes too like more trees and terrain changes like between Cherno and Electro. It's nice to see little things like that walking about.

I'm currently just exploring all the new areas of the map. It's so easy to gear up atm and there's a number of new places to go visit. Go on an exploratory map adventure!

How do you open ammo cans?

Protip: Don't use ammo boxes in buildings. They tend to disappear but on the ground they're fine. If you're just planning on taking ammo out then just put it in your hands but if you're putting different ammo into it then you'll have to drop it on the ground. It's best to do it quickly because of the lack of server restart warnings too. -
I'm loving these daily updates! How long are the daily updates going to continue?

Never, ever get attached to your gear. It's very easy to get high end gear anyways. You don't even have to go super far up north anymore too. -
Is it just me or did patch #2 remove the moon in every server? It was like daytime with settings high up but now it's still quite dark even with them up.

You could buy Arma 2 and play armory/custom map to fly about and get a feel of the map. It won't have all the new stuff but you'll feel the general layout of it all.

I'd be perfect with the thirst/unconsciousness fixed. I believe that the food has been fixed so it shouldn't be too long for the thirst to continue in that direction. -
I'm enjoying it. I'm not playing too much atm because of the thirst/unconscious bug thing otherwise it's great despite it still being very new.

The game is currently very fluid and that's something the mod could never really accomplish. It's only the beginning so it'll just continue getting better in due time. You bought it so if you can't deal with its current state then simply don't play it and wait a few months or so for more updates. -
A dozen cans but no way to open them

I just lost everything in Berezino. I was running towards the construction building and it looked oh so pretty. I guess my person got overly excited and fainted. My new guy is now currently running rampant in the woods somewhere near Msta.

I'm getting good fps on my old radeon 5770 atm. I've had up to 40 fps on it, surprisingly. I had to adjust a bunch of settings but it's going well atm. I'll be getting my new graphics card tomorrow though.

First Player Encounter in DayZ

I might of accidentally murdered a guy with my hatchet. I'm not entirely sure because I thought I was hitting a zombie but it might of been him. I ran outside and found a dead guy right by the door then ran back inside to find no zombie. It was bizarre to say the least and possibly a coincidence. Maybe he fell victim to the unconsciousness thing like I recently did. -
The fire axe hits right in front but another axe/hatchet like the splitter hits from the side. The same goes for a baseball bat. You just have to figure out which way it swings then it's easy.
