  1. Because 6 shots from a revolver to the chest shouldn't kill a survivor.
  2. 1 - Goes to a church 2 - Gets shot by a guy who was hiding in the inner corner and watching you as you enter using his magical third eye which is invisible and floats over his head 3 - ??? 4 - Concludes sometimes you don't have the same advantage. But the worst are the people who crawl on the top of buildings sticking their faces to a concrete wall only to see the whole city and snipe fools.
  3. Not that simple since you can acquire gear on easy servers for your use on veteran/expert servers. Would be cool if to go from a server with difficulty A to one with B you would have to start over and stuff.
  4. I could say "All you people that think that broken options should be on the game can go f*** yourselfs", but i'd rather argue on why some stuff needs to go instead of talking shit. I understand most people love 3rd person and won't let it go, so I don't even hold hopes that it will be removed, but it's true that it's very exploitable. I don't see what else could get so much sand in you.
  5. But you should place yourself in harm to check corners! ArmA 2's flawed engine has some very cool features like free-look and leaning that you can and should use to check corners, there is no need to have bs like a flying eye behind you... Why should we adapt to something completely unrealistic and heavily exploitable while we already have the perfect solution?
  6. Please read the rest of my post. I disagree with you. 3rd person is a pain, but nametags hurt the game a lot more by making lots of items useless and destroying camo.
  7. It also took me a while to get used to first person in this game. Reducing head bob to zero in the menu helped a lot. If you give it a chance you will eventually get used to it. The FOV on 3rd person view is obviously better because you are seeing things you shouldn't. IRL if you crawl through tall grass you won't be able to see a guy coming 100m away, thats a major exploit, not to mention the people who just crawl on top of buildings and use third person to see the whole city. 3rd person shouldn't be on DayZ, but now that it is I have little hope of seeing it gone. Nametags should be disabled while we don't have a decent alternative. If we can wait for a group system we can wait for that as well. Better communication between groups should be enough to avoid most cases of friendly fire.
  8. I agree with what you say about the 3rd person view (I usually play in US 10 Chicago, no 3rd person there), but nametags are not "something trivial". It gives you the distance of the target, something crucial for snipers who should only know it by using range finders and legit methods like the mil-dot scope and SVD's. I don't think most people understand how bullet drop affect aiming in this game... Also, it gives your position away, it doesn't matters if you are inside a bush with a ghillie suit, one movement of the mouse and someone might "accidentally" discover you are there and get your name + distance as a bonus... Nametags are just as bad as 3rd person view if not worst (def worst imo). I bet less tears will be shed if nametags goes than if 3rd person does tho.
  9. Why the hell should you have help in tracking enemies? Why should you know they are somewhere if you can't even see them? I agree with the identifying friendlies problem, but that's not a decent solution to it. I have a few ideas (see sig), but it should all come down to extensive character customization when the game goes standalone. In real life you can FEEL how hungry you are and you can FEEL how thirsty you are. If you have some more realistic Idea on how to know if you are hungry or thirsty without visual info, please enlighten us. Also, care to explain what's so retarded about 1st person? Lots of games use it with great success. I see no reason for anyone to use the crosshair whatsoever, but whatever...
  10. Funny to see how many people vote "yes" and how few come and argue about why stuff like nametags should exist for DayZ...
  11. I really think there will be way too much whining... I can see loads of folks dropping the game if they even try that before the standalone... There is no reason for DayZ to have an easy mode. I can understand 1st person is a pain if you don't try to get used to it (most don't) and not all ironsights are great, but asking for nametags is just lame. Map pinpointing where you are take all the fun that is navigating through alternate methods (Reading road signs, finding north through the stars and by using a clock during daylight) and make items like the compass and the GPS downright useless. Stuff like this isn't good to anyone, and people just resist to let them go because they are used to this kind of shit, not because they are casual gamers.
  12. Too late to change that. DayZ will have to maintain the 3rd person perspective even when it goes standalone. People shouldn't be able to switch between 1st person only servers and the rest tho imo. For people who say "You don't like them, don't join them", what keeps a player from getting top gear on easy servers and then coming to veteran/expert ones? Absolutely nothing. It affects all of us.
  13. Get back to CoD? Why should he? Nothing he said suggest that he want's this game to be like CoD or "arcady". It was quite the other way around. Stupid answer really. Third person should never have been an option, but now it's much too late. Most of the community will be displeased without the ability to look over cover while not risking their asses. I don't give a damn about crosshairs, They're a bit lame and doesn't fit the mod's focus on realism, but it doesn't bothers me that much. NAMETAGS MUST GO! Absolute lamest thing on regular servers. Not only you can use it to find people and vehicles you otherwise wouldn't, but it also does the job of the rangefinder, one of the rarest items in the game (for good reason). The only legit use of nametags I can think of would be for friend identification (See signature), but it still shouldn't show the distance. Anyone who defends the use of nametags the way they are now completely misses the point of this game. Edit: Maps shouldn't show your position, unless you have a GPS, an those should be a bit more common IMO. Still shouldn't work like a freaking radar showing the position of zeds, vehicles and other players. Waypoints should work as an arrow on the mini-map (maybe even showing the streets you should drive through if you are in a car).

    Worst Game Experience ever

Wanted to give you my :beans: for the laughs that post gave me, but "your" instead of "you're" or "you are" or at least "youre" is unforgivable. And english isn't even my primary language. Call me grammar nazi if you want, but no beans for you sir! :emptycan: :D
  15. =O That's very unfortunate. Tbh, I wasn't looking at barb wire when I had artifacts, I was simply looking at the west side of the NWAF. Gotta check if my game is looking fine with barb wire on the screen (up close at least)...
  16. Care to do some reading before erroneously correcting people?
  17. You have to disable @DayZ on the "Extensions" menu on the main menu. And yes, DayZ now breaks SP for security reasons.
  18. Quoting myself as it seems a lot of people are having these artifacts and few saw this. I wonder if it will still work fine if I switch texture quality back to normal... oh well...
  19. For those interested in trying, fixed my graphic issues by setting Texture quality to very high. Also set video memory to default, but that didn't solve it, at least not before i changed the previously mentioned setting. Hope that makes the game playable for someone, as it did to me.

    Deer Stands

It may have all kinds of millitary equipment, including guns, ammo, backpacks, tools like the GPS... Or it might have 1 chemlight, 1 flare and a bandage, it all comes down to chance...

    Eliminate M107 and AS50

If a gun exists and there is any background of how it got to chernarus in current time (like Crashed British helis) It should be in the game and have the exact properties it has IRL. Fuck balance, thats for RTS, Fighters and the like, this is a simulation. Stop making retarded comparisons to tanks and nukes, that makes absolutely no sense. There is no such thing as "this gun doesn't belongs to this mod". At best "This gun doesn't belongs to Chernarus"

    Study Fireplace Option

Pretty nice and simple idea. Finding a fireplace is quite rare, but it would be nice to know for how long it has been there if you do. Denying this inspection at the expense of water or soda is a great idea too.

    rough map.

I think no map should show your location, unless you have a GPS. I know it's like that on some difficulty levels, but it should be global. GPS should be rare (more rare than maps curetly are) residential loot and common military loot (Common on atc towers, barracks and the like, still rare on tents and fire stations)

    Asking people's names

Exactly like that, great comparison. I feel like that about rangefinders too...
