  1. Thats like saying "We should just add a hack prevention feature that sends people to the house of hackers to rape them. I dont want to hear its not possible, this is just discussing my idea." Why bother talking about something you cant make happen? You have no evidence you would lower sniping or hacking, there is no way to get evidence for or against your idea, and there is no possible way to actually put this idea in the game, in any form. Its not worth talking about.
  2. May the grass hide you always. Hopefully we get some kind of faction support in the mod, we could have a faction based around keeping cities clean.

Night time doesn't serve a purpose

Cool, pretty much everyone agrees that day and night would be better if it wasnt matched in real time. Doesnt change the fact that its not going to happen in the mod. Maybe when its stand alone, or maybe WarZ will do it, but its a pretty moot opinion right now.

Night time doesn't serve a purpose

Using it is securing a quick death however.

Night time doesn't serve a purpose

The thing is, Rocket doesnt give a shit. Maybe its a bad thing, maybe its a good thing. In the end, hes going to create the game he wants to create. That might mean everyone but him hates it, but if thats what happens, thats what happens. Hes not really reading the forums to see what people like, and what people hate. Read the "Rocket says" thread, he goes into good detail that hes trying to make an "anti-game". In the end, maybe DayZ will be the worst piece of shit ever created, who knows. Doesnt really matter I suppose, as another game just like DayZ is coming out soon. Go look up "WarZ", if Rocket ruins DayZ, there will always be that. I dont give a shit if Rocket personally makes an announcement to the forums that he wants me dead. Im not "blowing" him, Im relaying the shit he said to fuckasses like you cant spend a few minutes to see why your requests wont be a reality. Also, you need to learn the definition of trolling. Pointing out why night isnt going to change isnt trolling. Guns hit people in ARMA2/DayZ. Learn how to use bullet drop. And whats that talk about not getting killed by snipers every time you die? Half the fucking user base uses snipers exclusively for quick scoping montages. If anything, youre more likely to die by a sniper playing CoD.

Night time doesn't serve a purpose

Since when am I afraid of change? Bitching here isnt going to make it better though. Rockets going to do what he wants to do. Maybe hell add things you like, maybe he wont, either way bitching and complaining isnt going to change anything. If you dont like the game now, dont fucking play it. Come back some other time, and maybe you will like it.

Night time doesn't serve a purpose

Then stop playing. No ones forcing you to play. Dont come here and bitch about the game if you dont like it.

Night time doesn't serve a purpose

The thing is he might just like having it that way. He says time and time again hes not making this game to be easy, but I agree, a lighter night would be nice. Maybe people would actually play at night if that was the case.

Night time doesn't serve a purpose

What the fuck are you talking about? Where did I ever say Rocket could make an engine? I just stated ARMA2 uses a shit engine, because it uses a shit engine. That has nothing to do with Rockets ability to create his own engine. Protip: If someone proves you wrong, say "Thank you" not "Fuck you". No need to derail this shithole of a thread because the game cant work the way you want it to.

Night time doesn't serve a purpose

Rocket has gone over this half a million times. He cant change the cycle of time, as it would break the game, because ARMA 2 has the worst engine ever. If he speeds up time, it speeds up the entire world. If he slows it down, it slows down the world. So unless you want zombies that move a thousand time faster, or not at all, he cant make night faster, or remove it. Seriously, you are nowhere near the first person to think "Hmm, maybe night shouldnt last 10 fucking hours". Everyone who ever played the game has thought of that. Edit: Oh yeah, it would also cause shit to not spawn either. So you would have fucked up zombies, and no gear.

    Why Day-Z Fails

A linear SP game? Uh....no. Im good, thanks.

Military Grade Vs Civilian Grade Weaponry

I have my self a DMR. Yeah...way worse than the Enfield when it comes to attracting zombies. Basically every military gun is.

Military Grade Vs Civilian Grade Weaponry

Cant you get thermal scopes on some the military weapons too? Basically, the military weapons are just better player killers. They offer more to safely take out players, rather than take out zombies which die from anything quickly. For that reason, and for authenticity reasons, I feel that while they shouldnt be taken out of the game, they should be really damn rare. Honestly, how easily would it be for you to find military grade weaponry? Sure, you would come across a few from dead soldiers after some time, but there wouldnt be just fuck loads of them lying around in abandoned military sites. Right now, there are spots where you will find these weapons. Sure, it might be hard to get in there and get them, but thats because of the other players with stock piles of the weapons hunting people going around the area. I want to view them like the rare gear in a MMO. Not just something you can get easily in an empty server, or a server full of new players at the coast. Something that would take a long time searching areas to find, just like you would have to in real life. This would do two major things for this game. One, it would make bandits have to try harder to kill people, they couldnt just use one of their stock piled .50s to camp the coast. If they die with that .50, they would be fucked. And two, authenticity. I want losing that .50 to be like losing the top tier gear from an MMO, because thats what it would be like in real life. If you where in an end of the world situation, and you lost some high-powered weapon, your first thought wouldnt be "Its OK, we have 10 more back at camp" or "Lets just go raid this place", it would be "Im fucked in the ass." Honestly, if we did a character wipe and then made military grade weapons rare as fuck, the bandit problem would pretty much go away over night. When they cant depend on guns that let them safely fire from half a mile away and kill you in one shot, they will be less willing to take shots at players. Just like in real life, criminals go for weak targets. When the best thing that they can find in an Enfield which can only one shot at a distance where everyone else can one shot them, and doesnt give them some fancy thermal scope, or even a scope at all, only the bandits worth a shit would be sticking around. That, and there is just something more fun about using civilian weapons to gun down hordes of zombies.
  14. It needs to be that way so you cant ruin things on the hive. It sucks, but things need to be this way. No ones forcing you to host the server. If you dont want to comply, well...stop hosting.
  15. None of that needs to be exclusive to an engine. Also, the glare can be removed from CE3, and the assets have nothing to do with the engine.
  16. Well Im not saying the topic will be locked, Im saying arguing about if others engines can do this game or not is rather pointless. Its going to be using ARMA3s engine no matter what our opinion is. So yeah, its pointless. Not saying we cant discuss what we think of other engines and how it would work or not work, its just none of this will convince Rocket to jump ship to a different engine. Well thats not exactly something that would be hard to add into a game... There isnt much ARMA 2 does that isnt done else where. Really...of the top of my head...I guess zooming and free look. Thats about it.
  17. Not even close to being true. People dont play games because of the engine they are using. If DayZ goes retail, it will be able to make drastic changes to the engine to fit it to what DayZ requires. Though it might not run as well as it could on a different engine, people will be sticking around because the core gameplay is so fun, and so different from everything else thats being offered. The only reason DayZ would fail, is if someone does everything DayZ is doing, yet does it better. Thats probably not going to happen.
  18. Why do people keep acting like UE3 or CE3 cant do large maps? Have you played Crysis? Its not like that island is small... The reason why these games dont have maps the size of ARMA2 isnt because they cant, its because the games being made on these engines dont require it. ARMA has a very niche market, most people dont really care for huge ass military simulations, and thats exactly the reason why ARMA is pretty much the only people doing this type of game. Not saying that ARMA is bad or anything, Ive had a lot of fun in it, but games like this that require a huge map arent a big market, and as such, most people use UE3 to make games that have small maps. However, there still is a few examples of large maps in UE games. A great example of this is DCUO. We are talking about large cities full of buildings, NPCs, and cars, all while running great, and looking great. ARMA2 is full of maps that are mostly empty, with a few small towns, and when reaching any decently sized town the game runs like salted ass. While its not the worst looking game in the world, its not exactly a good looker either. Hell, if I had the time and ability, I would recreate Chernarus in UDK just to show you it would work fine. This world isnt filled with much, its mostly empty with a few of the same buildings scattered around. The way ARMA2 handles far away buildings, geometry, trees, etc, is no different than how UE3, and basically every other engine does. I dont know if you guys know this or not, but the entire map isnt loaded into memory when you are playing it. There is a reason why your character turns into something from the PSX era when you zoom in on a city from afar. Its lowering the complexity and detail of everything you arent looking at, to make room for the detailed textures and geometry of the things you are looking at, and to free up the GPU to process these things. Thats exactly what UE3/CE3/every other major engine does. All this talk really is pointless though, as the game is going to use an ARMA engine.
  19. Moving to something like UE3 or CryEngine 3 would probably be more accessible to people. Both engines scale well, unlike ARMA2.
  20. There is no reason at all why other engines cant do a map the size of ARMA 2s. Most games dont do maps that big, mostly because the games arent being made for a map that big. UE3 or CryEngine 3 could do all the things ARMA2 does just fine. The one benefit of using ARMA2 while DayZ is a mod, is it offers a ton of weapons, vehicles, bullet physics, and huge maps right off the bat. These arent things Rocket or someone else would have to make, its already in the game. That being said, if you are making everything from scratch, UE3 or CryEngine 3 would be a better choice. Sure, it would take longer, you couldnt just port everything over, but they are just much more polished engines. They run fantastic, look fantastic, and (at least for UE3, dont know much about CE3) are very easy to use to build any type of game you want. Look at all the games using UE3, from MMOs to shooters, RPGs to strategy games, hell, even a free running game (Mirrors Edge). In short, ARMA2 is probably the best thing for DayZ right now, but in the long run, other engines have more potential.
  21. Are you implying Rocket makes money off people hosting servers? I mean, its possible if he struck some deal with hosting companies, but I highly doubt that. People pay whoever they are renting the servers from. Rocket isnt seeing money from that. Youre right, they are expensive, and thats why Rocket has so much respect for the people paying for servers.

    "You were kicked from game"

Uh....a games rating has nothing to do with getting kicked from servers... Is BattleEye up to date? Is it enabled? Is it a legit copy of the game? Is the game up to date?
