[DayZMod] The Dayz Statistics thread!
luciddose replied to Ander (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Announcements & Info
I'm all for random statistics for sure but I don't think you should post any information that might have an affect on gameplay for players such as heatmaps, locatons, etc. -
Is this for real or a troll? I am having a hard time separating the two these days.

Everyone killed on server at once?
luciddose replied to mykhrochyp's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
hackers are nuking servers, yeah report to cheating. -
hell no! silenced weapons are the holy grail of survival game. If you are going to propose something how about no more spawning in oceans, no more hacking and combat DC's you know something that directly effects the balance of the game mechanics and doesn't just address how boring it gets for you.

yeah i had it happen once before and it wasnt because of pvp at all, I'm not sure but i think its a bit buggy, i had to respawn between hour glass resets to fix it, i thought it was due to being in shock but if rocket says its a DC punishment i think its a bit dodgy.

The most dangerous player in DayZ is the noob with a Makarov.

Good idea, the game really takes into account human senses which translate well except for touch and smell which because of the limitations of digital media can not be introduced to their full potential. Although a simulation of it would be awesome to some degree, you get cold, while you don't feel the cold the same way you hear or see in the game it is well simulated so why not smell. perhaps an indication of smell from dead bodies, campfire, or gas could be a good start. there is wind in the game that effects long ranged projectiles, I wonder how hard it would be to have smell directed by the wind. Although it is something to consider, the sense of smell is very important in terms of hunting, deer and other animals that smell you coming would force you to mask your scent. I would love to see this implemented to some degree and if they do add dogs to the game this can be put into play even more so by your companion who is more advanced at smelling things out than humans are capable of.

It shall not punish gameplay styles

Not being able to trust everyone you meet is part of the game, just as important as your guns and gear and more challenging than any game of this caliber. If you eliminate this key aspect of the game you will take away from the spirit of the game, and the challenges you take. I am glad the bandit skin is gone, it was too easy to identify player killers and it forced people to take sides, now you have a new level and dimension of gameplay which is mass paranoia and discovering for yourselves how you learn to trust one another. Reputations while they play a key role also can be changed at will, anyone can change their name at anytime. Bandits always say they are friendly and how you deal with people you meet is up to you to decide. It is a freedom your given that not too many games explore. If you want to trade this freedom for what you deem as a personal security and comfort you are doing a disservice to the essence of the game experience. It is less about being hard core than it is exploring options other games don't even touch. If something is not working for you then change things up, approach players differently, what players choose to do is up to them to decide and the game mechanics do not force me to play any way but how I choose and I hope this never changes. -
15 min of playing...over 2 hours of black misery
luciddose replied to maleitch's topic in New Player Discussion
its all good man, the game can be hell of frustrating i was just trying to relay each play experience is different and its not always as dark as a steers tucas on a moonless prairie scenario. Its hit or miss on dark servers and extremely hard if your solo. Keep trying different servers with different times I am sure something will click. I personally avoided night servers like the plague until i felt i was ready for something more challenging. When I opted for night servers it was def that another level of difficulty. I'm not always up for night gameplay but sometimes its just what i need for a change in pace. -
First time i played i was shot by a player and got away alive i spent the next 4 hours near blind and not able to really see from blood loss, i had no ammo and ended up throwing cans at zombies crawling on a broken leg and you know what i loved every moment of it, i was hooked on day one. I refused to go down without a fight and ended up dying in the dark of the night. I think the first time you play is always the hardest and I knew from day one it was the game for me. If by day whatever your still crying over it perhaps its not the game for you, we all get our cherry popped sometime, mine was first game.

15 min of playing...over 2 hours of black misery
luciddose replied to maleitch's topic in New Player Discussion
I think the nights are very realistic, I played last night on a night server at midnight and was able to see due to the fact it was almost a full moon on the server, normally it would be pitch black but being able to see due to the moonlight and other light sources is very realistic, you have to battle the elements in this game, from rain, to temperatures and the dark. I hope they don't change the darkness or tone it down to cater to people It is really amazing to survive at night and battle the simple dark. I have died in the dark and not even known how so you might be best off on daytime servers. -
the hunger and thirst is normal, try to not log out unless you have one drink and one meal ready when you return. the blood loss i would conclude has to do with debug forest, perhaps you were struck or attacked. when people kill in debug forest it sometimes doesn't register as a kill and sometimes does, i would wager it was a close call, still not sure but its a theory, i saw a player ganking others in debug forest some didn't get a registered kill some did, i put a stop to it by killing the killer but it could have been something along those lines.

Lets do this, Trading Station Delta - Edited
luciddose replied to combatcomm1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
whats to stop a player with a satchel charge from walking in or server hopping in and exploding your position? this is highly ambitious and if it works I would def check it out but its hard to fathom people coordinating this to a degree that is productive. If i was a bandit I would snipe your "guards," all day or Jihad the location or simply infiltrate it, earn your trust and stab you in the back, you know what bandits are notorious for. -
1.7 spawned in water after changing skin
luciddose replied to 4tell's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
yup it happens so often i dumped all my equipment into a tent before putting on my cloths. good thing too because the ocean swim was a long painful one. -
yup people get off on betrayal and bandits are the first to say they are your friend. I have helped many a player by not shooting them in the back when i see them and they never even know it. I also dont run out to shake their hands either. I learned this the hard way. Trust is the most valuable thing you can find and if you do find it keep it. Dont change because everyone else is an ass hole. It is much harder to help people than it is to shoot them. Just be careful about it to the point where you are almost seemingly selfish even when you are not. You can chill with me and my band of peeps if you like, trust has to be earned.

wow this post made me laugh so hard, please post more because its totally entertaining, I know your wrong because i play solo and I have total fun and I play with other players and have total fun. yeah its dangerous and can be frustrating at times but I man up and move on and learn. I suppose your other choices are go back to playing wow, 'I have not said that in a long time.' or go and post how much its hurts your feelings to be betrayed by other players. qq
