So yeah. I've been gone a long ass time and have recently decided to see whats changed and maybe pop a few heads for their beans. That's when I noticed the horrifying lack of night time servers. That and the insanity that is the hacking menace. But most importantly night time servers seem almost non existent. Was it really that difficult to bother with? The fuck guys?

DayZ is not free so stop saying it is.
Nonn replied to treyshone's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Most people still have a hard time grasping the idea that nothing is truly free. Like a free side of fries and drink that you can only get if you buy a specific, sometimes promotional and more expensive burger, DayZ wasn't really free. Already got Arma 2 and what not? Great. Most of us didn't. And for most of us the Arma 2 on its own is garbage. Just not our thing. So in the end, no it wasn't really free at all. But take from that what you will. -
Bring back respawn on demand. I'm sick of spawning in Kamenka 3 times in a row. Until then, I guess these piles of beaners are going to keep popping up.
-
Just wanted to point out how common it was to spawn there. None of those bodies are mine. I wouldn't be playing this long if the walking bothered me so much obviously. But there is little action or social interaction in kamenka. Its a big lonely place :(

Why are so many 'Bronies' into DayZ?
Nonn replied to Jony_RocketInMyPocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Agreed. He could have killed this need to spread into other forums and such by just keeping them in their own community on 4chan. But nope. Now they spread everywhere annoying hard working bean runners with their shenanigans. Thankfully it's not so out of control that I can't just ignore them. -

Nonn replied to Jony_RocketInMyPocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A cartoon with ponies aimed at children, containing some references to things only adults would get, just like every other cartoon in recent years. Some people watch and enjoy it, while others tend to take it too seriously. Bronies are still a very small minority, and so even among the other weirdos of the internet, they are considered "off". This is the path of they have chosen. One where they may never gain acceptance. And thats fine with me. I really just wish they'd tone it down. -
Dayz is a zombie survival sim, with a side dish bugs n glitches. The script kiddies are dessert. We went from alpha to the full stand alone so fast because of the obvious demand. Not just any demand either, demand for a game people in the business were sure would not do well. In my opinion, this mod will remain an "alpha" until the end of its existence. There is little reason for it to go further. They will test a few more things here and then the standalone will be released either fully or in another "alpha/beta". I can't say. But regardless we will move on to there. However I agree that I'm getting tired of the "its an alpha so its ok!" attitude towards the mod. It's been considered one for too long now. These bugs and glitches and loopholes that hacks abuse will happen, of course. But it should not just be swept aside, in the hopes that it goes away on its own. It should be addressed properly and we are in the right to bitch whine and moan,Within reason, about it until then.

Depends on when and where mostly. Dont expect much light in a dense Forrest. Then again at the same time, depending on world conditions, you may or may not see much daylight at the same time duriing the dayl Much of the time now, it seems people camping around tall buildings, intent on killing anyone they dont know through skype or teamspeak, etc. are the ones that avoid daylight,
-
Exactly. I grabbed commander when lurking the forums a while back after hearing it would display times. But as you said it's not very accurate. In my search for night time servers I tend to ignore very low pop servers, as I don't enjoy the pseudo-singleplayer experience it often brings, what with actual encounters at times being uncommon to almost non existent.
-
True. I should note I'm in the US, so not only is the ping terrible but many of the servers wont even let you connect with a ping over 200.
-
But that seems so against the spirit of the game. Or what it used to be anyway. Night time had always felt like another game mode entirely. Fun in its own pitch black, horrifying little way.

God. God damn it. What have you people done?

You are listening to the wrong people Rocket.

They'll get over it. They'll get over it or leave. Remember when we had revolvers as our starter weapons? People had a FIT over being forced to start with the "macaroni" guns. Most got over it. Loss of the bandit skins? Remember that? Another whine fest there.Oh it would ruin the game and some such. Enough to make a few cheese vendors into millionaires over night. Most got over that too. Point is, rocket and the devs have a plan and it looks like they'll stick to it. It also looks like they are leaning in the favor of harder, more challenging gameplay. They aren't really listening to us, it just happens to be where they are sorta headed, with a couple small stops in happycasualfunland where they felt it was necessary, and I trust them with that. Threads like this are sorta pointless. Most of our suggestions are quite honestly, useless garbage or were already thought of. RARELY will one of us come up with something golden. And arguing over who's right is also irrelevant in a way; truth be told its probably just going to get more Fun* regardless of which side is more vocal. *Hard -

I don't really think he (rocket) cares too much if the game tanks, which I doubt it will mind you. I like the fact he can do what he thinks would make the game interesting, risky as it might be. At least he does not cave to whiny threads like this one. If you've seen a good deal of his posts, you can clearly tell he's all about making the game hell on earth. He harvests tears for a living, and we've been on short supply recently. And no my good sir, the game was rarely fun or challenging unless you had just begun playing. Now it's a more brutal world with a lot more challenges and In my view, "Fun". Maybe you just don't like change? How about giving it a few more days to see if you can figure shit out. Otherwise, as so many before me have said : Perhaps said form of entertainment is not for thee, might I suggest a round of miniature golf simulator 3? -
20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon
Nonn replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
YES However, Why not add another twist? How about a Flare gun with 6 rounds or less to replace your flares? Use it as a Utility or defensively, both with obvious consequences. AND No ammo spawns for it> :D -
I found this on a dead player help if I need to drop
Nonn replied to ghostshell's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ask a mod or dev before deciding to drop it. I too heard from a mod that if it has an Icon its legal. The vintorez for example that I had found a long time ago didn't have an icon for it not could I found ammo, so out the window it went. And I'm pretty certain those loot tables we have all seen aren't even the official ones. -
I just don't have this issue. Course I am also part of a large group that does lots together. Mostly supply runs and the occasional killeveryoneincherno run. Not having vehicles in our new server is the only thing making this stale for me atm. As for the pvp aspect well, I just don't have that much of a problem avoiding death. I expect to be shot at almost all the time, even more so in major cities. Maybe if you just stopped assuming this was some friendly singleplayer+coop game with zombies and came to terms with what it really is, DieZ, you'd have a better time. Or just give up all together as this doesn't look like the game for you. I hear minecraft has zombies too. Why not give that a go?
-
I can kill people with it and it still takes care of zombies. Didn't make sense for it to be so quiet. I say its fine. Though I did like pellet ammo, also because its red :)

Dallas 9 Owner Abuse Warning To Players and DEVS
Nonn replied to Mr.Ian's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Seems to me server admins like to use the excuse of Ghosting to ban a person. I begin to wonder if anyone has ever rightfully banned someone for said act of ghosting. It is entirely possible to sneak up to 5 meters from a person without the use of an exploit. It merely depends on the target's situational awareness or lack there of. Course Mr.Ian could be lying for all I know. Some sort of solid evidence would be grand. Something that I think should be required. That or numerous UNBIASED (Ahem, people in the SAME clan) witnesses. Besides, Its not like this doesn't happen often. You'll catch him again assuming he is in fact ghosting. People D/C on me all the friggen time. -
Indeed. Good work. This has gone on long enough.

Let's figure out what happened in the Day Z universe.
Nonn replied to MattRB's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hell i'll give it a shot. Forgive me if a few things seem inaccurate. :) JAN 21 2012 Research in a Classified location somewhere in the former USSR territories begins to find a cure for a deadly virus strain similar to the Rabies virus that has been arising in in a small number of cases within South Africa. JUN 14 2012 Apparent success in creating a vaccine. Lab tests show success, but research on a cure for currently infected individuals is suggested. JUN 25 2012 Research on a cure for this new Rabies, Dubbed "Red VI", begins. First results look promising. JUL 8 2012 Unexpected mutation occurs after use of the Red VI cure, "NuRed", however results are at first kept under wraps. Volunteers for use of the drug are kept in isolation. JUL 10 2012 Accidental release of individuals infected with the mutated strain of Red VI, now dubbed "Red X" (Red Ten). Historic accuracy degrades from here; most of the involved either perished and/or became infected upon release. JUL 27 2012 Reports of "Rioting" and other public unrest spread quickly.Governments across the globe denounce it as mere protests over the recent tensions between the U.S and the Russia-China alliance,But Rumors claim that this is something else. AUG 3 2012 As Israel begins to shut its borders to all outsiders, Russia and China beginning a clean sweep of its surrounding territories and countries within the European Union begin reporting cases of the virus, Countries like Georgia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine begin experiencing power outages and loss of communications. It is assumed they were closest to the original research labs. AUG 13 2012 U.S. Forces are deployed South of Chernarus for "Security" reasons as Russian and Chinese armies deal with their infection problem. AUG 17 2012 Rate in which the virus spreads increases dramatically. Russia and China quickly lose control of their situation as quarantine fails and much of their major cities become blood baths. Countries like France and Germany begin evacuations as it becomes apparent that not only has the virus breached its boarders, but a huge hoard of infected are just outside their front doors. Everything East of Germany is estimated to be at least 80% overrun, excluding Chernarus which has kept the country from going past 20% infection with the aid of U.S. forces which had been deployed there since the start of the news of the virus going through Russia and China. SEP 12 2012 Much of the land East of England now estimated to be 90% infected. Communication from either Russia or China ceases, as well as all other surrounding countries, aside from the occasional civilian radios and SOS signals. OCT 30 2012 Great Britain experiences small explosions of the infected within their borders, but eliminate them for the most part. It is at this time that Chernarus receives a huge wave of infected from the north, killed or infecting most of those unfortunate enough to be too far north. NOV 10 2012 Despite the spread of videos featuring many engagements between U.S. Forces in Chernarus and the infected, More Units and equipment are sent to Southern Chernarus in an attempt to retake lost group and form a front in the fight against the infection. NOV 17 2012 Public support in the U.S. for military action in chernarus drops as more videos of gruesome engagements against the infected go viral. It becomes clear that there will be many more losses ahead if American forces continue their assault and with reports of infection in cities back at home, U.S. forces are quickly withdrawn. For a time it was rumored that due to a mass of infected swarming the coastal cities in chernarus during the withdrawal, that many U.S. soldiers where left behind. DEC 2 2012 Though at first thought lost, radio signals are detected from Chernarus in various locations. Most are coded, while others appear to be coming from local inhabitants in hiding. There is word of the possibility of a cure somewhere north of Chernarus, were a mobile lab is said to have been once located. DEC 31 2012 With much of the American Economy now in shambles, work becomes scarce, and the dollar...near useless. The threat of infection on the scale of Europe's' still looms are reports of outbreaks continue gradually. For the most part they are also eliminated. It is then that people look to chernarus and begin taking employment that involves entering the dangerous and highly infectious country with intent to secure refugees if alive and return them to the mainland for payment, find a possible cure, test out experimental vaccines or find their fortune in salvaging the thousands of tons of military hardware left behind during the U.S. Forces' hasty retreat. JAN 2013 A survivor (You) manages to convince a boat captain to take him as far as the coast of Chernarus in exchange for his Revolver and ammo. The captain, Feeling pity for the survivor, Gifts him the cheaper less effective Makarov with some ammo before leaving shore, clearly terrified of the country. Kinda lost interest half way but there ya go! -
So I guess racking up more than 5 kills on your members is a bannable offence eh? God forbid anyone's a bandit. Oh lawd. Rather rude of you, I mean really. I was having a blast. Though That's a horrid reputation you're building up here guys. But hey, whatever. Clearly I'm in the wrong here...Somehow. If you wanna invite me over to have some fun again though, I'm all for it. Cause that's what buds are for. ;) Cheers.

I'll have to agree with boxman, I'm not liking this idea as you explained it OP. The ingredients for starters dont even make sense. Used casings + bullets + Gunpower + reloading tool = Ammo would be the only way this would work Unless you had access to other tools and possibly electricity. This also makes obtaining ammo and other items easier, which I find unnecessary and even damaging for a game like this. If anything, Minimal crafting would be alright. Simple things that don't require a factory to do. Arrows for example, or a spear. Combine the whiskey bottle with matches, a full jerry can and with an item like say a rag to make a molotov setup. Rope and a flashlight to attach it to your Main weapon. The ingredients would have to be rare and not something you could make tons of with a single trip to chernov and the produced item would have to be as useful as the items are rare.
