Found a lee enfield. Tried to put my sidearm (a silenced pistol) in my backpack. My backpack was full. I'm now out one silenced pistol.

What's the squad URL option for when creating a profile?
Noise (DayZ) posted a topic in New Player Discussion
I'm curious on this function, can I get a description of it please? -
No, not as far as I know. An abusive admin is most likely kicking people. People do that (or restart the server) to gear themselves up if they're admins. Not all, but some.

While this forum section is not for recruiting, I'll take you. Pm me your Skype name if your interested. Currently have +3 more people. Hope you join up!

best way to find your friends in Day Z
Noise (DayZ) replied to theizzman's topic in New Player Discussion
Meet up somewhere relatively safe. Try notable areas like Cap Golova. -
Hey Alex, Pm me your Skype. I currently work with three other players.

Male/female selection. I was told it's once and once only, but I get it every time I die.

Was this constant choice to select this, is it a bug or was it intentional? -
I'm having mixed feelings as a potential tester/purchaser of this games. Mollify me?
Noise (DayZ) replied to Dr. Cocks's topic in New Player Discussion
I'm fairly new to this game. I didn't purchase it myself, someone gifted it to me on steam. Do I regret them doing this? No, I think it's fun as hell and I expect to get even more joy out of it with future updates. -

Will zombies ever be 'slower' outside of buildings?
Noise (DayZ) posted a topic in New Player Discussion
They seem quite fast .. I'm fairly certain the typical zombie doesn't run at tewnty mph in random directions until they hit you. Will their speed ever be reduced? It's sort of heartbreaking to see three or four zombies running as fast as a player. -

Noise (DayZ) replied to Noise (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Of course, but my fanboying attitude is with the walking dead and the slow type moving zombies. I at least hope in time the super-fast running will be fixed. -

You know the typical zombie isn't that fast, right? I don't care if they aren't real. I'm just saying some of them seem to be a little too fast. -

Why do people stay on recruit servers and kill new players?
Noise (DayZ) replied to DerekTen's topic in New Player Discussion
Hey, I'm always looking to help. I'm new myself. If you'd like I can team up with you, I play dayz with a friend of mine so he'll join too. If you're interested, pm me your steam id/Skype details. Tip wise: I stick on servers with 4 players or below. Try a lower player count. -

I successfully convinced my friend into buying Arma 2: CO on steam and joining me on Dayz. Seems cool. After he relocated a few times, he started on the opposite side of Elektro (the far right) and I was on the far left. And so it began our quest to meet up and conquer the world of Dayz. It turns out on my initial second life, I went all the way around Elektro from where he was and went in the complete opposite direction of it. At this point I was in Komarovo and he was in Kamyshovo. We were speaking over skype the entire time, and I trekked my way into Cherno, dodging zombies left and right until I scored with loot. I found an alice pack, I was happier then ever. I had more room at this point and I could carry my m1911 handgun with ease, having little worry for other necessities at the moment besides something to drink (as it was getting quite red). While I was rolling in joy, he was finding some decent loot as well, but not before running away from quite a few zombies. Did I mention it was daytime when we started this? It transitioned to night, which was a great help, though as I was walking along the coastline after leaving Cherno towards Elektro I was promptly attacked by a walker (zombie). I took him down with a single shot from my handgun, bandaging myself up after and continuing my quest to Elektro to meet up with my friend. It was quite the journey. Once I got closer I found a home upon a hill, only to be attacked by two zombies (I killed one, dodged the other and lost him) and I healed myself again after I was in the arms of safety. He was already in town at this point as the moon was rising. My friend soon took shelter near a church, waiting for me to come across town in order to join him. I did this with great caution seeing as the place was littered with zombies and dead players which I took the time to loot. At this point, the loot gathered for the day included many rounds of ammunition for my handgun, a hunting knife, a watch, an alice back pack and other minor things. There was even a player body filled with so much good loot I couldn't carry it all, so I was going to lead my friend back to him in order to have him loot his belongings instead. After I went prone and crawled across a courtyard(?) I made my way to the entrance of the church. The bell ringing overhead scared the hell out of me, I even thought it would attract zombies but surprisingly not. We looted what we could and heard gunshots nearby (there weren't many other players on the server, just one other person). With precision and caution, we left the church and rounded the left side, I took watch while he axed a zombie from behind. It wasn't over though. He was checking something on the street and I went into a building and I heard a series of gunshots, a player had killed my friend in coldblood without any warning. Coming out of the house was pointless since I knew I would have been seen immediately. I went out the back and rounded around the side, to a broken concrete wall. I had a perfect view of the assailant looting my dead friend. I had him. I drew up my handgun and let loose, dropping him within a mere two seconds, though his body vanished strangely enough (I didn't click 'hide body' either). My friend's body vanished soon too, and I tried fending off a zombie that I attracted with a crowbar. It didn't seem to do ANY damage to him even though I was hitting him constantly. My character soon collapsed and I died shortly after. When my friend returned, my body was gone as well, so all of our loot was lost.

ARMA Latest beta (94945) Stuck on waiting for host?
Noise (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I can't seem to get in any game after updating beta to the latest. It just sits at the screen reading 'Wait for host' while I see chat messages/hear the music. This problem did not occur this morning with the previous beta, must I rollback? ( Also, this mornin I received a directx3d9 error or something everytime I tried to go into the Combined operations VIA steam, not the six launcher. This was with the previous beta so I thought I had to update. ) -
Brand new player in Dayz, right? Okay. Here's how my day went down. ( I don't know the names of specific towns/locations. Right now I'm just creeping on by. ) I initially started on a coastline, a small corner of one. There was a red house in front of me (couldn't get in). To my own fault, I didn't sneak or look at my surroundings, so I attracted the attention of a zombie. Well I ran. And soon I attracted the attention of more. There were about seven zombies chasing me, of which I promptly found the closest ladder and pulled myself to the top, eventually dying of blood loss. My second life is much more lucky (and I'm still on it now). My start was somewhere near some hangars, though this time I was much more careful. I never run unless I know the area is clear, though sadly for me it rarely is. After sneaking by some zombies I looted two hangars and found nothing but ammunition and red chem flares, heartbreaking to say the least. I soon left the air field and began to tread across a large field, dodging zombies by going prone and crawling straight past them (did I mention it's night? Apparently it's always night for me). My initial goal was to head to a barn like building I saw, but I found a bigger prize. An airfield. It wasn't long before I made it to said airfield, going into communications tower (?) and looting whatever I found that was useful. Yes, some coke, canned sardines, and more ammunition! A lot of ammo was gathered by this point, oh, I found more chem lights too. The tower was soon left and I went into one of the nearby large hangars. I crept by a few zombies to get in, but I found some real prized possessions inside. More chem lights, ammo and the like, but more importantly- road flares! These flares have been really useful in saving my life and being used to sneak past zombies. It never gets old. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a bunch of them in my current path/heading towards me, I chuck a road flare, and they all flock towards it. This was my tactic (though I used them sparingly) for quite a bit, and I still have plenty left over. I soon found some checkpoint type location and I looted the small building to find an m1911 pistol, however, no ammo was nearby for it (nor did I have any ammo for it currently). Sad. I even screwed up, accidentally throwing a road flare out the window and right into the bush next to the building. I booked it and made it out without being caught, as zombies quickly crowded the area. My next location visited after trekking across some fields was some sort of dock type structure. I walked down a road leading into it and I heard a zombie, to my despair, he was right behind the humvee staring at me. I was scared, but he didn't seem to notice me as far as I was concerned, so I went prone and crept past him into the nearby building to scavenge for supplies. This was the jackpot for me! I found ammunition for my gun, a canteen, ammo for other guns, and more chemlights. After looting the necessities I crept back out along the shoreline to bring myself into a town, which I'm still at currently, though I can't seem to find any buildings to go into so far. I'm a complete newbie to this game and I'm doing pretty good so far on my second life, feel free to drop your thoughts!

The download is WAY too slow, and it cuts out because of this, resulting in an incomplete download. It's not even 8mb and my downloading rate for this file is 7-12 KB/s. My download rate is MUCH faster, it's JUST this file. Am I missing something?

Cannot download the latest beta.

Do you have some other well known site like mediafire? It's doing it with that one too. Edit: Nevermind, works, thanks. -
This download is super-slow for me, no matter where I get it, and it always cuts short.
