[3:45 Min Video] Human Centipede Attempt

This was good for a chuckle.
  2. To be honest, I run around Cherno and Elektro all the time, and have only gotten shot at by people with 10 meters of me. Bu then again, I've never seen a hacker either... so maybe I'm just lucky.
  3. See? That's what I'm talking about. I think that's a fantastic idea, and you even have a name for it! Outbreak mode. That sounds pretty wicked, and having a "group goal" is the way to go in my opinion. Maybe having a server-cap of only 10-15 survivors, combined with the hardcore mode you suggested so that once you die, that's it. You're dead and the group suffers for it. And I like the idea of "escaping", which is certainly a viable option, but perhaps there could be several different objectives. Something like escaping could be a "quick match", if you will, just a mad dash up north grabbing as much as you need to survive on the way. (by "quick" I mean around 2-3 days) Something more long-term could be something like setting up a base, or settlement and possibly even eradicating (or outlasting) the infection. Coupled with the roaming zombie packs that have been suggested, I think this would be a great gamemode for groups of friends or even clans. Just expanding a little on your ideas, hope we can keep this thread going. I hate to see great ideas get forgotten. Thanks for reading!
  4. As far as loot dwindling down after awhile, it's a good theory but I don't think it would work in the long run. Maybe if there was a system that had a "playthrough period" were after a set amount of time, the server resets everything, including those playing in it. This would also bring up the question of playing on multiple servers. If the system I suggest is put into place, when a player enters a server at the start of a "playthrough" it logs your CD key and you can only play on that server. Otherwise, you'd still have problems with server hopping to loot farm. I understand that the central hive is a necessary evil now, what with server instability and lack of updates, but it's something that I personally believe to be a flawed idea. People will always abuse it, and we can't just keep saying "Oh well, it's just a part of the game," when DayZ goes standalone. Like I said, I understand the need for it now, I just don't see it's viability in a standalone game. As far as sleeping goes, I don't think that leaving players in-game at all times is a good way to go about it. This will lead to players "sleeper hunting" and just general trolling. I just read about a guy who drives around in a car at night playing "Yakety Yak" over the chat running people over. Hilarious? Yes. But if I wasn't even logged in when I got killed? It might be enough to put some people over the edge. Perhaps a different system that leaves everything on your person in a small satchel, or a campsite that serves the same purpose. That way, you could combat "hoarding" and keep people from getting murdered in their absence. Since I've given your ideas thought and feedback, I feel that I must also put my opinion as well. I don't particularly like either of these ideas. That said, just because I don't like them does not mean that they're not good. It's just my opinion. What I do like is the fact that you're thinking, I mean actually using your mind instead of posting the first thing that pops into your head. You've taken the time to post a clear, informative and well-written idea and that is exactly what we need more of. Hopefully this thread sparks more ideas and creative thinking.
  5. It may have been a coincidence, but admins restarting servers to avoid dying is not unheard of. But don't immediately jump to that conclusion and start claiming "butthurt admins" though, because in my experience it's just bad timing.

    Herro?! Herro? Are you friendly?

Friendly my nuts, he would've put that shotgun to you the second you turned your back.

    Stand Alone Game

You surprised me there, I thought it was going to be an epic facepalm picture. Beans for originality (or as original as one can be with a repost of a repost of a re...well how about beans for comedic timing?)

Do NOT hit a Jerrycan with an axe

Well....now I've GOT to hit a jerry can with an axe....
  9. Doctor_sloth

Don't shoot! I'm friendly! -holds hands up-

There's a surrender button that you have to bind yourself. It's all the way at the bottom. How do I know this? A guy mugged me, made me drop my weapons, and waited patiently while I bound my surrender key to put my hands on my head. A gentlemanly highwayman,

    Full screen NVGS.

I was going to go on a rant about how real-life NVG's are nothing like those in the game, but that's a bit off topic. So instead, I'd say go for it. It's not an "unfair advantage" in my opinion, the 1/16 fov reduction is a minor annoyance. I could also see it having adverse affects on people with tunnel vision, so there's a reason to use it if you've got that. And who says you can't run a mod on a mod? That would seem a bit ridiculous to me.
  11. I wasn't being butthurt...but far be it from me to talk a little shit on the internet, nobody ever does that. Especially in the "bandit" section.
  12. How does it affect anyone except those who play on them? If what you're saying is the logic we're using, then DayZ "ruins" the whole point of ARMA II, since it's a military simulator not a zombie game. See how dumb that sounds?
  13. In all honesty, I don't see how or why Rocket would want to stop them. It doesn't hurt any body, and the loot is non-transferable. Though he did pitch a hissy fit about the single player mod, so it wouldn't surprise me if they figured out some dumb-ass way to combat non-hive servers.

[Video] First solo attempt at NW airfield

Except all I got was fuck all. My first three trips to the NWAF? Lots of zombies, one player, and nothing but tin fucking cans and makarov mags. I'm still pissed off about it.
  15. I hear you, it's kind of lame if you like the challenge and whatnot. Tell you what though, you want to get rid of that stuff, let me know. I'm working with a group that helps out medics and new players with supplies (no bullshit it's called Freeloaders) and that pack would come in handy. So, if you're willing to help a brother out, let me know.

Look what my friend Zheiko gave me

I was looking at the picture going, "WTF? There's a tree branch in the way I can't see shit! What? Oh....it's a ghillie..." *Iseewhatyoudidtheremoment*
  17. Man, you must be "teh gr8est uber l33t sn1p3z 4 lif3" "I hunt camping snipers"? Really? You hunt down stationary targets and are talking about how good you are?
  18. Note that gear that is legit in DayZ is legit period. Even if it was hacked in, as long as you didn't hack it, you're good. So.....congratulations are in order I suppose...you bastard :D

How to "officially" pronounce "Day Z" ?

It's like id software man...nobody really knows.
  20. Doctor_sloth

I found the PERFECT theme for DayZ!

The sheep in the road "dancing" to the music literally made me shoot coca-cola out of my nose. You can have my beans any day bossman.
  21. Two thousand and late made me chuckle. In all seriousness though, it has to do with ARMA II, not DayZ.
  22. Doctor_sloth

    Best snipers?

I know people are going to call me dumb, but I prefer the CZ. Ammo is abundant which is a factor given how I try at least once a month to clear Elektro of zombies. "This is my fucking city you zombie fucks!" I always say, until one of them eats my face or I catch an axe to the back. Keeps me on my toes....

    Fix this deathmatch junk

Completely unrelated, but your avatar is friggin' sweet. It was my Facebook profile picture for a few months!

Zombies never die... hear me out

Like I said before, I get the premise I just don't get what it would accomplish. Put bluntly, it seems like an overly complicated and useless mechanic.
