    November Round-up

I apologize if I am taking your post the wrong way, but there's no reason to become so aggressive in your response. I'm not saying they have to follow some kind of "transparency code". I'm saying that people are getting discourged because they don't see anything happening, if they ARE making progress like they say that they are then show us something meaningful. At the moment keeping up with development is like watching a snail run a mile dash, and in the "final lap" of development that's not how it should be, we should be seeing a bunch of half-finished features coming together and forming the Alpha of the game, that's what a lot of people are excited for, what they're waiting for, and what they're expecting. What they're giving us is glorified concept art (not to say the pictures they're giving us don't look really nice, because they certainly do), and the game is in the FINAL LAP of development? I also wasn't trying to say that you were wrong with your statement on the testing of the servers, I'm just saying that no matter how many small-scale tests they do it's still a whole different ball-game when it comes to the massive strain of the initial release.

    November Round-up

There is absolutely no way to replicate the scenario, they will either sink or they will float. You cannot "test" the servers for a release day with 20 testers, you cannot "test" the servers for a release day with 100 testers, you cannot "test" the servers for a release day with 1,000 testers, they just aren't on a large enough scale to match the load that will be caused on the initial release. Although there are quite a few exceptions, most people on this forum are competent enough to realize what to expect from the Alpha stage of the game. Personally, I've participated in many Alphas, Betas, and Early Access games, of both open and closed varieties, the game itself looks completely playable from what little they've shown us, and that's what worries me. If the game is as playable as it looks, they've no reason to hide so much from us, I honestly believe that the game is a lot less finished than what they're showing us at this point, and I'm starting to think that it will be at least a few months before it's released. The "final lap" statement could very well just have been a way to try and keep the individuals still interested in the game to stick around, because I'm sure the numbers of people who actively follow development have dropped drastically over the past few months; people are just losing interest at this point. Like most of the forum's posters I mean no disrespect when I say things like this, people only criticize because they want to see improvement. But honestly, I want to see some actual progress. For all we know, you've made very little progress at all in development save for a few things you've posted very tiny tidbits of information about. Transparency within the game's community is imperative in this very Indie-dominated generation of games, and there's very little transparency with this development team.

I guess there's better games for it (RPG's, specifically...) but I love roleplay, and I'd love to see a few roleplay groups or servers pop up. I'd probably enjoy it, despite DayZ not being the first choice of Roleplaying Game for most individuals.

Indeed, call me a roleplayer but I definitely care how my character looks, and with the clothing and equipment options that will be available in standalone I would certainly love to see how my player looks in the outfit I've put him in, whether it's in the inventory menu or otherwise.

    Craftable body armor

Yes, they're supposed to be able to handle up to .308, Level IIII goes even higher although I'm not actually sure of the specs. Anything under III is just soft armor and won't stop more than handgun rounds though, I do know that.

    November Round-up

Indeed. It's not actually my annotation, it's a display card the person who gave it to me included (for display in a shadowbox), they also gave me a few .36 round balls, a .36 conical projectile, a .36 wrapped powder charge, and some other neat items from the time period. This was along side the purchase of an 1851 Navy, #'s matching and all original parts (1863 production, definitely saw combat). Military History is so damn neat.

    Craftable body armor

Nobody in this thread knows about Level III I guess.

Way off topic, but it seems we've some gun nuts in the thread, beans to the first person to identify this historic round of mine:

Easy solution: don't sleep. Sleeping is such an unproductive use of time anyway, who needs that amirite?

Your signature is very relevant for that post.

So the game is that far away from being released and you're all letting us sit here wait?

    October Round-up: #DayZDaily

You turned it into a personal argument with that little quote that you posted. I'd be glad to discuss this intelligently with you, but it probably wouldn't go anywhere and I'm sure the moderators are tired of us going back and forth. I'll continue to post my opinions in this thread like everyone else does, but I'll likely ignore the comments you feel the need to post towards everyone who has a differing opinion than you.

    October Round-up: #DayZDaily

First of all, you're putting words into my mouth. Second of all, you have no basis to say that the transparency of the developers is a non-factor. Lastly, there's no reason for you to attack me personally over what I've said, stop acting like a child because someone has a different opinion than you, it's immature and unecessary. Ever wonder why people outside of the DayZ forums poke fun and talk so poorly about it?

Look at all the scam-ass games that have dropped recently, just being massive cashgrabs by the developers, look at all the games that have failed recently. What do most of them have in common? Lack of transparency with the developers. Look at all the Indie companies that have dropped amazing games in the last few years (Tripwire Interactive, New World Interactive, Overkill, Fatshark, just to name a few). What do most of them have in common? They are very transparent, and they communicate extremely well with their communities through forums, social media, livestreams, dev blogs, and even in-game.

Lack of transparency is killing developers.

You don't, you think over your post thoroughly before actually posting it.

Good try, but we all know this is literally impossible. There's no possible way WarZ could have been created by a competent individual.

Clearly only a temporary release date, will likely be pushed further. (What a surprise)

This really doesn't do anything for the game, it's not a fool-proof way of preventing BF fans from getting into the game. Personally, I was playing all yesterday (Korean VPN, lol) and today and still managed to check the forums every other hour for info.

On the off chance that picture was real, damn, $19.99 is a very reasonable price to be asking for this game! 12.99 on Early Release sale, even better. (On Steam 1 Euro = 1 USD, right?).

I wonder how DayZ Standalone would have fared in this years Golden Joysticks?
