Thank you all for the quick feedback, I will definitely check out the new-player forums, and will DEFINITELY look in every damn barn I can find :D I'm sure all the kinks will be fixed over time, like I said, I understand it's in alpha phase. Thanks again.

I understand it's been said before, but really.. Does this game seem kind of unplayable at this state for a newbie? I bought the game a week ago, and I haven't even found a gun yet. I'm living off of the coke and pepsi that I rarely find, and half of my findings are empty tin cans. I did happen to stumble upon a hatchet, after dying 3 times just to get to it. I had to reload it (wtf) I understand it's in alpha phase, but I don't see how its gotten so popular with all of these problems. I have to crawl across roads or else it's too loud? and I will attract zombies from miles away (how is that realistic?) I think me and my friends would have a better time if we started out with the basics, such as a pistol and some food, and then we could really get to exploring and go from there. Right now we try to sneak around but end up attracting zombies from god knows where. But that's just me..
