Hey everyone - I'm the GM of Æos - the guild that runs this server. I haven't been on DayZ in about a month, but one of my members directed me to this thread. I'm going to talk to the admin of the server and find out what happened. Unless there is a legitimate reason (e.g. hacking script found in the logs) - I will immediately revert the bans. With regards to Alt-F4, I'm pretty disappointed that anyone in my guild would use that to avoid getting killed by another player who deserved the kill/gear. I've made it clear that's not tolerated in our guild, and I will be looking into that on my own. The current issue though, is the ban for alleged hacking. Thank you to the streamer for playing on our server and getting this video. Sorry for the pain in the ass. Edit: Please send me a private message with the names of the player(s) who were banned in this instance.

Guild website: http://aeos.enjin.com Geography: United States and Canada VoIP: Mumble (Mic Required) Server: US 888 I'll keep this light :P we don't offer blanket invites to our guild in most instances. However, we're pretty easy going guys and we'll be happy to play with you a bit to see if it's a good match. We're a PvP guild, but in DayZ we're not out to turn it into a guns-blazing deathmatch. We're just not gun shy, and we love a good fight. What Kind of Player We Like: No whiners, no cry babies, and no assholes. We're mostly a 20-something guild, but to be honest, that's not important. We just want to play with other (generally) mature players ;) We're happy to pick up new and inexperienced players with solid personalities, rather than "pro" gamers who are too full of themselves to have a good time. That being said, there's a reasonable level of skill expected or at least a notable desire to improve. We've got tough skin and try to point out mistakes and help each other improve. If you've got an ego, like to piss people off, and troll -- move along, we've got nothing for you. DayZ Rules 1. No Douchebags 2. Desire to Improve Yourself 3. No Disconnecting to Avoid PvP Contact me via private message or reply in this post

Battleye Client kicked me?
Pander Beers replied to Shard (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Was anyone on US 888? That's my server and one of my guys said the BE message "exception caught" spammed the chat before kicking everyone. Seems the server let everyone back in fine though. -
So I'm kind of a noob server admin, but I think I made the right decision. There was a hacker on our server, but we're not sure who it was. One of our guys came across a spawned helicopter in Solnichny shooting up the town. He hadn't done much else at that point, no nukes at least, not sure about messing with players... and hopefully he had only just got to the server so he hadn't done much. A moment later, I took the server down, hoping to prevent him from killing any/all of the players on the server. The question is... what do I do from here? I'm not sure how to go open the logs - we use Host Altitude, and I put a ticket in to ask assistance. I spent a few hours yesterday trying to teach myself how to get into the logs and read them, but to no avail. We don't have tags on, and I'm not sure what the guy's name was - we were a full 40/40 server.

Zombies: What do you guys want in future updates?
Pander Beers replied to fearz0r's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Zombies have 1/3 the health of a player - they're so squishy :3 -
Determined by server settings. In general, Regular and Recruit servers try to give more aids to the players (such as free GPS in the form of map markers). Veteran and Hardcore servers try to strip the game down to it's rawest form (removing 3rd person, removing crosshairs). There's a lot of different settings, but you can choose a server you like based on that Recruit -> Regular -> Veteran -> Hardcore/Mercenary

Opening recruitment back up for active/prior military
Pander Beers posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Here's my original thread -> http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/31716-%C3%A6os-multi-gaming-guild/ Basically, we're good on numbers, but if there are any prior or active military gamers out there, feel free to send me a private message. Even if you don't want to game with us, we can probably help get you on your feet. Probably half our squad is prior/active and we try to keep some basic military organization/tactics without getting brutal. -
Unconscious for 2 hours.

You need to sit there and wait out the whole 5 minute timer. It's because you disconnected while you were in shock. -

Is this server host legit?
Pander Beers replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
They're the guys I use for my guild's Mumble server. It's really ridiculously cheap. Understand that you're going to have some issues, most likely. However, they are legit. Our Mumble server lags out maybe once a week for a few minutes, it could be due to some maintenance or something along those lines. However, besides that, it's very solid. Just google around and see what other people say about their gaming servers - BF3 and Minecraft, that kind of thing -
What if everyone started with a tent?
Pander Beers replied to andrew99's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I am going out on a limb here assuming that the reason why our starting inventory is so sparse is because when you respawn, you're simulating a new survivor showing up on the shores of Chernarus, with only a few scraps of whatever life they had before in their pockets. Oh, and a giant. ass. tent. Although, to be fair, it would be pretty hilarious to respawn, look around, and see just a sea of tents on the beaches and the hills around the coast. Not all the time, but maybe once. -
Some gameplay options regarding player bases / campsites
Pander Beers replied to entelin's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Look up information regarding Rocket's underground bases. He has a great Q&A session at Rezzed where he talks about how he's considering instanced underground construction. For example, no matter what server you're on up above, when you go into your base, you're in your base. Look up more about it and you should watch the video -
Don't be discouraged from asking for help on the forums, EmmyMsAngel. The community here is actually fantastic. It's just a very small minority that are herp-derps. For example, look at how many totally random, different people tried to help you.

dayzcommander.com, find your "friends"
-
Welcome to the game, bud - may your beans be plenty and your broken legs be few.
-
Yes - the point is that you have a reference to look at on the side. The benefit of using the online map on a 2nd monitor is that you can filter some of the icons out. If you're new to the game, I would use dayzdb.com/map and remove all 4 types of Low Yield buildings (Residential, Industrial, Farm, and Military). Next, remove Vehicles. That set-up right there is a solid, print-able map. If you are printing in Black and White... and have some colored pencils laying around (or highlighters), then try to mark all ponds (blue) and the trees (green) around the cities/airfields. You should also color the High and Medium yield buildings according to their category (in the first paragraph). If you want to mark some important bits on your map... 1. I'd put a big red circle around the Northwest Airfield, Vybor, and Stary Sobor. You'll find bandits all over Chernarus, but in these three areas, you'll find the best equipped ones. Also, players very rarely come to these areas alone, so if you see another player, assume that he's got friends. Bottom line: stay away until you're ready. The next big PvP areas to note are the Northeast airfields and Berezino (Southside - near the Hospital/Supermarket) and Cherno/Elektro (obviously). Also, I've seen Polana pretty active recently, my squad got in two firefights there today. 2. Don't use the Dayzdb.com/map for vehicle spawns. Instead, use this http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=Vehicles#Spawn_Locations_of_Vehicles and mark whatever you want. To be honest, I wouldn't spend a lot of time looking for vehicles. Assume that organized squads already have most of them, and if you come across one randomly, then cheers! 3. Like I said before, water. Mark water. When you're living in the North (off the coast) you only need 4 items to survive forever without having to go into town. Hatchet (to kill animals and cut trees down), Hunting Knife (to gut the animal and collect raw meat), Matches (to use the wood to make a fireplace which keeps you warm and cooks meat), and a Water Bottle. If you have the water marked properly on your map, make sure you are always within a short walk of another pond or worst-case-scenario, a water pump on the edge of town. 4. In the future, when you're a weathered survivor with a sniper rifle strapped to your back, you need to mark your favorite sniper locations. These are areas that are elevated, hard to attack, and easy to escape from (all obviously after you have a good field of view of your sector). Two examples of sniper positions are the forested hill to the Northwest of Vybor and the Northern ridge overlooking Polana. I think that right there will give you a relatively clean map, with loads of information that will get you through the end of the world.

"Hey Rebecca Black, you hungry?" "Yeah, I could use a nice can of beans right now, Rebecca Black." "Well, I would give you some, Rebecca Black, but I'm playing on a TI-83 and dropping too many frames." "Don't worry, Rebecca Black, I'll just give myself some beans on a ridiculous forum thread." -

Ok. No problem, Rebecca Black, go back to making your wonderful music and leave the Alpha testing to real gamers. -
My Guild Banned from US190 Veteran Prox12
Pander Beers posted a topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
US190 (1.7.1.5/93965) Veteran -- Hosted by Prox12 Gamers Den 6 of my guild (including myself) were just banned for "Hacking/Cheating." This is a baseless accusation and none of us are using any hacks or cheats. The ban was put in place by MrNaviPacho and supported by ExitWounds. The incident that I assume led to our ban is as follows. We had gathered the materials to repair the Ural that spawned in the Northwest of the map. We went down to Lopatino to refuel. After that, we headed to the Southeast to Pustoshka where we heard gunfire and two players died (Michael and someone with a clan tag). We turned off our lights and stopped 300-400 meters away, because we saw the lights of a vehicle ahead in the open field. There was a player standing next to a V3S Civilian with broken tires. All I could see was his legs behind the vehicle lit up by an off-road truck behind the V3S. I shot the legs out from under the player, killing Heavy (something like that). At this point, my squad goes up, loots the body of the player I killed and the V3S. In the loot was a L85A2 AWS. One of my squad picked it up and began scanning the area, spotting a player watching us from behind concealment. After being wounded by my squad member with the L85A2 AWS, that player logged off. We mounted up in the off-road truck and our Ural, and left the area to pick up one of our squad mates who just logged in to the server and spawned along the Southern coast. In the loot, we grabbed some awesome gear, several weapons, two range finders, etc. After picking up our squad member who had spawned along the coast, we went back North and parked our vehicles in the forest to sort out the loot. At this point, we were all kicked (Banned for Hacking/Cheating). Luckily, the clan that owns that server has a teamspeak: Two of my members logged on to talk to an admin there, who listened to our story and asked for our names so that he could unban us and speak to the admin who put the bans in place. The server was reset shortly afterwards, however we were still banned. At the same time, my two squad members were banned from their TS3 server (I understand that this is their private server and we're not seeking appeals for that). I would like to seek ban appeals for my following guild members (these are the names they were using when they were banned).
