    Sounds better, but while I'm thinking about it - it's silly that drinking, eating, and reloading doesn't generate zombie aggro for the sound it makes. At least, opening a coke can should make some noise - players can hear that from a building away. In the patch to update drinking/eating aggro levels on the sound effects, toss in a sound clip for opening bags. Zombie aggro range Drinking Water: 5m Drinking Soda: 10m Eating Meat: 5m Eating Beans: 10m Opening Bag: 5m Reloading: 10m

    I really like the idea in general. Specifically, opening a backpack, whether yours or another player's, would create the sound effect. I'm not sold on being able to hear it through walls, nor that it would generate zombie aggro.

    Here is my "Peaceful" alternative to KOS

    I don't want to be dismissive. You've put effort into your post, and it's really not a bad idea. However, I just don't think it's the right idea for this Zombie-survival simulation. This is obviously not a regular game you'd pull off the shelf, and because of that, it has a lot of mechanics that exist, or don't exist, in other games. For example, there aren't nameplates, map markers, or icons identifying your "team." Why? because it doesn't simulate a real life situation. There's not a "freeze" mechanic in place, because part of the fun in the game is deciding how to deal with that conflict as you would in real life. If you don't want to fight with other players, that's totally awesome. Go for it. You'll find other like-minded individuals out there! Many players are just as scared as you are that you'll kill them first. The interesting part is conveying your friendly intentions and getting the other person to believe you. DayZ doesn't have kill-on-sight coded into it. The players have made it that way. It's so interesting because look at how the community started out relatively friendly at the beginning, but over time, fear and the fight for survival has turned us all into bandits and fearful "friendlies" who don't want to kill, but do it to live another day. TL;DR - not for DayZ

    L85A2 AWS found 1 is it legit?

    Yep - they are spawning. The reason they were allegedly "removed from the game" was just a bug with the patch that accidentally removed the weapon from all players' inventories. Also, a buddy of mine logged in this weekend with a L85 that he found, and it was turned into a tent lol -- so the bug is still hanging around in a weird way

    I actually asked the admins to post here, I sent an e-mail through their website yesterday. In the end, we've obviously moved on and we're playing on another server, but it's the principle of it all, damn it!

    The roles of players we're looking for right now are those who are comfortable moving through towns/buildings without drawing zombies in on our crew :) Also, you'd need to be comfortable engaging both players and zombies in close quarters.

    A great place to find guns is to head inland, away from the coast, and look for deer stands or barns. Both of those will usually have some time of firearm.
  15. So I spent the better part of this morning reading various "guides" and posts promoting server hopping, loot farming, and other exploits that are in the current build of the game. These threads were on this forum, and new players are reading them and perpetuating a movement in the community in the wrong direction. I posted on one thread that there should be a downvote option on posts. Fortunately, that entire thread was removed for promoting an exploit (awesome job moderators!), but my post which had been generating some positive feedback was removed along with the rest of the thread. After a certain number of downvotes (or net score, balancing between "likes" and "dislikes" as you will): for example, -20... then the post is hidden. This could also add a counter to the player's profile for a moderator-only view. If it was the original thread's post that was downvoted and hidden, then that entire thread could get flagged or removed automatically (perhaps after -50). Anyways, just throwing some ideas out there, hadn't really thought it all out. All I know is that I am in love with this game, and I'm generally happy with the community that follows and supports it. In my opinion, the vast majority of us have good heads on our shoulders, hate exploits, and detest trash players who not only abuse but promote these activities. A game as quality as DayZ is too good to have trash like "A Guide on How To Server Hop" and "Mechanics of Farming a Building for Loot" littering the forum. All of this being said - this is really just a suggestion to help moderators out. Reporting a thread is always an option in place. We've seen that the forum moderators for DayZ are not only awesome but fast. Cheers.

    Server locked 12 hours a day

    oh wow - that sounds pretty awesome, i'm definitely a supporter my only suggestion is that you reduce it to 5 minutes. 5 minutes, in my opinion, is just as much of a deterrent as 15 minutes to the guy with disconnect reflexes... and you help curb the unnecessary punishment on lag and disconnects due to the alpha state of the mod either way, very awesome that the admin of the server hopped on the forums to explain this neat feature
