Your going lose your gear in this game a lot, in the last three weeks I have lost everything to glitches and hackers several times over. You will not get your gear back this is not wow. In short this is not the game for you, bye bye.

You wont find a serious group to carebear with you. Real players get their loots from the bodies of their dead foes.

Gearing up is fun, ill often stash all my gear in a tent on a quiet server and join another more active one for a gear run just for the sake of some low risk pvp. My favourite route is to spawn west of cherno. Hit the industrials first for a hatchet then supermarket, zig zag high lvl res across to the med tents for a decent primary if Im lucky then into the hills. I don't equip a primary till im on the way out because they are just too damn noisy, hatchet for zoms and people with their backs turned and pistol for bandits and emergencies. Usually 30mins on average but I have had lucky runs where a little luck and and a murder has geared me faster. Shot an eleven day old player (got the info from side chat) and two of his friends five minutes into a game with an enfield when I was just a nub, nothin to great gear in under ten mins. God I love this game :)

The other night I busted off a pushbike and died in the middle of a dark night. I was fully geared at the time so the race was on to get back to my body before it decided to despawn. Two minutes into the run back (Kamenka to Soznovka) it started raining hard. This was the first time in the game I have had any difficulty seeing at night but with a little help from the sound of buzzing flies I found my corpse and headed home to get warm and pick up a spare ghillie suit. If your having problems with the night then your hardware is letting you down or you just suck at the game, either way you cant ask the devs to nerf night for you. Plenty of servers have offset night cycle for those who cant hack it but I personally embrace the cloak of night with fewer players and less sensitive zeds. Its been stated plenty of times that the ARMA engine wasn't designed for night play without NVG so get used to it until its a stand alone game, until then stop being afraid of the dark.

One of the most discussed topics on the forums is how there is no consequence for murdering somebody. Once a player is killed the murderer has a hard to kill zombie spawn close to them unless its a head shot, as in the show "Death Valley" where fresh zombies are faster and stronger. Agro direct to the murderer and zombie despawn on killer death. I mean why aren't the dead rising anyway? The ammo it would take to kill one would make bandits or anyone for that matter think twice about killing another player and make for an interesting fire fight in group combat.

It may state somewhere that they are not zombies, although im yet to see it. But let me quote from the top of the "what is Dayz" page on this very site. Realistic "Zombies" with custom animations - These once human creatures will act and behave as if they have a heighten sense of hearing and smell but less sight, on top of that they use motion captured animations such as walking and eating from your unconscious body. If you look into any built up area you'll see them walking around waiting for their next victim which dares to venture in.

They are not rising from thin air they are rising from the player who has died. Maybe SUPER was a bit strong but as I said they are fresh so the are stronger and faster. Re; Headshot kills will not spawn a Zombie/infected. Backstory update maybe everybody carries the infection, they just need to die for it to activate. Im a bandit im not complaining about getting murdered just trying to add something that could imo work well.

If your hanging around the central section of the map and the server restarts start legging it around to find downed choppers, much better loot than the airfield. Even better if its night and the server is quiet, if you have a good monitor (or 2 for a loot map) just turn up your brightness and gamma and you will see for miles (this need to be fixed, night is way too bright now and nvg are obsolete) the chopper stand out like dogs balls just look for the fires burning but make sure you not running up on a camp fire. An old push bike is a great tool for doing this, almost silent and hell fast, if the bike takes damage just get off and back on again and usually it will be repaired. Found 3 last night 10 mins after restart, Bizon PP-19 SD FN FAL AN/PVS-4 M4A1 CCO + 16 clips! AS50 only one clip :( M107 3 clips MP5SD6 6 clips And the list goes on, 4 guys geared up in no time, boxes of medical supplies are common as well.
