Bulletproof vests/flak jackets and helmets.
Luieburger replied to Asuka Langley Soryu's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Sure. Vests and helmets are a good idea, but there should be a trade off for using them. They should weigh you down, slow you down, and maybe take up the backpack slot. Perhaps vests take a backpack slot, give you protection against 0-10 shots in the torso (depending on caliber and armor material), and slow down your run speed or tire you out faster on a sprint. Maybe some of the better vests give you 4 - 10 slots like a backpack, since you are sacrificing that bag space. -
Yes... it can get very confusing. Thankfully they are adding more diverse skins in the future. Eventually, they might add female skins. More choices will be very nice.

Day Z amazing, Arma II poor interface
Luieburger replied to superhans18's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Nope. I agree. I didn't buy Arma 2 until I heard about DayZ, and with good reason. The massive maps and high detail is awesome, but it's very clunky. I do love the helicopter tutorials though. Good practice. -

How did YOU find out about the Day Z mod?

See... I'm not the only one that apparently didn't understand your words that "mean things". Let's be clear here. I'm the one who posted a thread correcting you for being wrong' date=' or for not explaining yourself properly. I was unaware that thin skin has anything to do with criticism, but apparently it does. Words: What do the words in the previous quote even mean? Don't even bother replying to this thread except to pound your own chest. I won't bother coming back. Edit: I did just now came back (after the post below was written). Couldn't resist the entertainment and the name calling I would receive. I also figured out how reputation works, a feature I have largely ignored until now. What fun. Edit edit: Re (http://dayzmod.com/forum/reputation.php?uid=5024) - See the edit above. I'm glad we've kissed and made up. Thank you for the fun thread.

Temperature isn't the problem... it's starvation.
Luieburger posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Temperature isn't a problem at all. My problem is that my friend and I are about to starve to death because we can't find any wood to burn. We're in the middle of a freakin' forest, we found 2 piles of wood by houses but can't loot it because it's just there to look pretty. Temperature is tame. We're gonna starve to death tonight. -

1.5.8.4 The first action you take on a server is stuck with you
Luieburger replied to Luieburger's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You're right, but there are several actions that do not take place in the gear menu. Gutting animals, repairing vehicles, saving tents. These are just a few actions that happen on the menu. See my video in the original post to see what the problem with this is right now. -
Seattle Server Info/Discussion
Luieburger replied to wolfpack81's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Sweet. I've been playing on the Seattle server as well. Quick load times even when everybody else is chugging. -
Oh I definitely had to switch between more than one server back when the connection issues were really bad. Sometimes 10 to 15 servers. Getting in line, then out. Leaving "husks" and such. Until eventually finding a server that actually loaded. Is that not spamming? You also say in your original post... "You will find that typing *sigh waiting for server response AGIAN* is, surprisingly, because every server is subjected to this at the moment." Not true. As I stated previously, some servers will be locked tight in "Waiting for server response" mode while others will log in in less than a minute. You also criticize "enter spamming". Some of us use macros to solve that problem, and spamming is the only way to get on the same server as your friends at this point unless you want to inconvenience 5 people so that the 6th person can join them on a different server. So lets just be thankful that connecting isn't as bad as it was a week ago on most servers, and stop with the "you being the 1% impatient children who throw fits and temper tantrums" BS.

1.5.8.4 The first action you take on a server is stuck with you
Luieburger replied to Luieburger's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
If you get desperate, just press Escape->Abort->Disconnect and then re-join the game. You keep your spot on the server and you reconnect where you left off. It temporarily gets rid of this action menu problem. Re-connect, cook your meat, be happy. :) -

EDIT: Screwed up the title. Should say "Why does the master server save all of our dead characters?" We just passed 1 million "characters" in DayZ as can be seen on the homepage. http://dayzmod.com/index.php And... that is causing a few problems, which will most likely be fixed shortly: http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=6064&pid=56495#pid56495 It seems like each time you spawn, the master server creates a completely new character entry in the database. We have 92684 people who have played this mod, and on average each player has died 10.87 times. If I read correctly, only players who live longer than 2 minutes are entered into the database. My question is this... Why is the DayZ database storing each of our player deaths? It would be more efficient to store only one set of character information right next to the player ID, etc. One to one. Of course it would be. But... My theory is that eventually we'll be able to go to a website where we can see each of our characters, their stats, where they traveled, etc. Of course, we'd be able to see our current character too. A full history of our play experience would be pretty awesome.

Just noticed a new bug in 1.5.8.4, submitted a report on it. It seems like the first action that you take on any server gets stuck with you.

PM sent with details.

Wrong. Depending on what server I connect to I get in faster, or end up waiting for server response for an hour. Switching to a server that isn't slow as a slug gets me into the game faster. It's been working for me for the past two weeks. Thankfully, load times are much faster than they were two weeks ago.

DayZ player survey | Final results!|868 participants!
Luieburger replied to eel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
103 hours since May 12th, so I guess that qualifies as 100+ hours? "How many hours did you play." Sounds weird. Are you asking for total hours, or how many hours did I play last week, month, etc? -

Logitech Keyboard G-Buttons binding
Luieburger replied to andreamit's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The G keys aren't recognized by your OS. Only the keyboard and the logitech program recognize when they are pressed, and map those G keys to other keys or macros etc. Can you hack something up to make it work like you want? Probably. Do I know how? No. -
A long, logical approach to the "Bandit Problem"
Luieburger replied to JudgeX's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Good post, but I propose a different set of solutions. -Make tents less buggy so they don't dupe, disappear, eat items, etc. Make tents packable by anyone so people can move their own tents after they die (after getting their saved gear back). As it is right now, dying isn't the problem. It's having to find a new tent so I can keep saving stuff in my stash. -Make vehicles less buggy so they don't disappear, eat items, etc. Many vehicles are mobile tents. Sadly, they are buggy as hell. Also, they allow friends to pick up other friends so they don't have to travel so far after death. I've got gear laying around multiple servers (I track it with map screenshots and footnotes). Good gear. It's not hard to get good gear in this game. It's just hard to keep items in tents and vehicles when they despawn and eat your items. It's also hard to get back to your tent when vehicles are so freakin' rare. Add a 2nd boat and some more crumby cars. Add a tank for the hardcores. Rocket says he is saving the humanity feature for a future patch. At that point, I expect the pros and cons of killing people will be at balance again. For now... kill all on sight. -
I took this one recently... thought it was funny.
