  1. I have checked the wiki and could not find anything, but I have a few questions regarding the flies. I understand that they are only attracted to dead players and not zombies. Here are the questions that I do have: How soon after a player dies do the flies arrive? How far away can you hear the flies? How long do the flies stay at the body? Is it until it disappears or is hidden? Any help would be great.
  2. Dayz Commander Do you still need to use these if you download the mod via steam?
  3. I played this for awhile, but I have had many medical issue over the past few months i.e. double lung transplant. That being said I have not played recently nor have I kept up on the updates/news for the standalone. I have tried to watch some of the dev blogs (I just saw the march 8th one) but there are still some questions I have. I have tried searching but i have not found answers to these. If someone could either provide an answer or just post links to the thread, I'd appreciate it. Here are a few questions I have: 1- Last i heard the release date for the SA was around June/July. IS this correct? 2- Has any price been discussed? 3- Is the SA going to be as unforgiving and brutal as the Mod? i.e. lose everything when you die, starting with almost nothing, spawning in random places etc

    Standalone questions .....

Good to know that it is staying with the hardcore aspect. That is key in making the game unique.
  5. If you can run the Dayz Mod, you should be able to run the SA with comparable success. We've been told the specs will be similar to the MOD, but not exact details have been given out.
  6. What was his response to that?
  7. Everyday I come on here I see Dozens on thread complaining about Bandits, or others trying to find a way to play this game in a non PvP style. Heck, I have seen people even ask if there can be server options to enable or disable PvP. Dayz is almost 100% PvP, which is the way that it should be. There are 2 main ways this is true: 1- Killing other players (No explanation is needed) 2- Looting When you loot, you are taking items away from others players who could be looting soon after you (especially true in Cherno/Electro) Do you take more supplies then you need (i.e. do you carry extra food?) You also need to account for the chance of items spawning as well. Taking rarer items, is a harsher PvP tactic then leaving it. You could always come back and loot again if you run out. The only way to make looting not PvP is to have areas, with unlimited supplies, that give you the option to choose the quantity you wish to take. Of course, this is idea is stupid and will never be implemented. The way I see it, this game is meant to be played PvP, with a reward if you choose to be friendly. Those rewards ideally comes in the form of a longer life which should increase the value and diversity of your supplies. To all those who are do not like to play PvP, but enjoy looting may I recommend that you go out and start geocaching or play tetris.
  8. NO, do not remove it. Just make it so players are able to get it over it.

    Under 100K active players

Let's also not forget that summer just ended and school started. There are many reasons why the numbers have declined.
  10. I keep seeing how people have been alive for 19 days or 30 days, etc. From what I understand, logging in for only a few minutes each day will "count" as a day. I think instead of counting how many days you've been alive, it should count how many in-game hours. Especially since in the standalone the Zed's will be challenging as will the ability to survive due to increased effects of weather and sickness. We also need to account for the the difference in not having a HUD and getting used to listening for certain sounds. "X" hours alive (in-game) is a greater representation of how well a person is surviving then the current method of counting how many days you are alive. Thoughts?
  11. Hacked weapons do not give people much of an edge. Smart and talented playing gives people an edge. I've seen some pretty stupid people on this game. Give a talented player a AS50 TWS, he'll do great. Give the same player him a DMR and he'll still do great as well. Give a crappy player a AS50 TWS and he is still crappy player but has a big gun. Since we are finding these weapons on players we've killed, apparently, the weapons did not give them a big enough edge. I have no problem with all of arma's weapons being in Dayz. It is not like they are unrealistic.
  12. I have seen hacked in weapons at spawn points and on people who have died. Finding them on someone you killed is not playing the game illegitimately, it can just happen. I think it hurts the community to ban people using banned weapons. If they are hacking them in, ban them. Just finding them or picking them up should not qualify a ban. With over 1,000,000+ players, only a very small percentage are on this forum. A majority of people probably have no idea what is hacked and what is not. I think if we start to ban a bunch of people, a lot of innocent people may be affected, and thus hurt the very base of people that made the standalone a possibility.
  13. His tent location is Dubina Peak, in between Polana and Berenzino. Since I do not know where to get video tapping stuff or screenshot equipment, I am not able to report it correctly. How do I know he was hacking? If you are invisible, you are cheating. I have never been able to find a tent and I did this time! When I go back to loot it, I check carefully and nobody is around. Next thing I know, I start to hear the hatchet sound and I start to see my life go down. I start looking around and I can see and hear the grass moving, but nobody was there. There was an invisible guy who was hacking me.
  14. Another reason it is a bad idea - Since Dogs are being added, those who smoke and drink will be hunted down by bandits with dogs, since they can be used to track people. While the idea of taking a drink and then going guns blazing may sound cool, to keep with the level of realism, those players would not survive. Since Rocket has mentioned that the environment will have a much greater impact i.e. weather/temp/food/hunger, smoking and drinking would make the game very hard to stay alive very long as you would get sick easier and have to loot cities a whole more. More sickness are also being added. This time, Zombies just walk in buildings and you can not run to a pier for safety.
  15. Zombies shouldn't swear. They shouldn't be able to formulate words/sentences.
  16. If you drank, it would also need to increase your thirst since it can dehydrate you. Also, since were are realistic, when you drink, it'll be your first time drinking, so a can or two will make you hung over and unable to function. Also, assuming you are not dead, you will be hung over the next morning, after you wake up from collapsing, for a few hours (real-time).
  17. Recently, I have played a lot of BF3. Before that it was Borderlands.
  18. It is a great stealth weapon. 1 shot kill on Zombies. Quiver will be in standalone. I'l continue to use it in the standalone.

zombies shoud have more realistic loot

Killing any kind of a zombie should not "always" reward you with anything. Sure, different zombies could have different loot, but what loot they have should still be random chance.

Question: What does he mean by simple vs complex ragdoll? What is the Helicopter architecture?
  21. There has been so much information talked about regarding the new standalone, but I do not recall reading that. Do you have a link? I do remember them saying they were going to adjust the HUD, but I thought they were just going to make it optional?
