20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection

Yeah and that is a consequence to murder. If you murder you can't get that skin. IE Consequence. Also nice use of "facultative" :D -
Does the community want DayZ to become harder?
Talon2000uk replied to L0G!N (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the further north you go the more zombies their should be. and Half way up the map they should start randomly spawning in fields and woods. Things down south are hard enough for new players but by the time you start heading up north you should expect real resistance from the Zs. They should be as much of a threat to the Vet players up North as they are to the Noobs in the south. If not more. In the north of the map you should never feel safe. Also remove the deer stands from down south so if you want good guns you have to go north. -
I've given all my beans for the day but If I hadn't you would definitely get some. :D

A serious question for the PvP-phobes
Talon2000uk replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thing is Tarq, thats not true, everyone shoots everyone. Not just the careless, unlucky or dumb. So what now? -
Ok I'm giving two to one odds in beans that one of them will betray the other, who's taking. :D

No wont work. Still no downside to murder. With no consequences people will still shoot on sight. -
A serious question for the PvP-phobes
Talon2000uk replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sorry I can't agree, it doesn't build tension it builds paranoia, now everyone shoots on sight, there is less tension not more, its all luck as to whether you see them before they see you. It's almost impossible to team up now except with RL friends, I pity the solo players of this game now. I'm lucky I have 8 real life friends that I play with and we are normaly together in a group of 4 and above so we come out the victors in most situations but for the player without a group, well they have to fire first or they will never get any where and of cause its a downwards spiral from there. There needs to be a downside to being a murderer, I don't have any solutions I'm afraid, I wish I did, but without it this game is slowly turning into Team death match with zombies and it should be so much more than than. -
I run with a group of 4 to 8 friends, we have a simple policy, If we spot you first we stop, drop and cover and observe you. If your not a threat we let you pass. If you try to ambush us, engage one of us, or snipe us, we will suppress you, flank you, put a bullet in your head and loot your stuff. KOS has a down side. It's time people realised that.

Its difficult to say exactly with no eye and ear you are practically invisible to Zs, the chance of being spotted seems to rise exponentiation with how many Eye and Ear you have until at full Eye and Ear they can see you from hundreds of meters and hear you from the same. This survival guide from the wiki contains some good info on this and other DayZ tactics. It's a must read for all new players and helped me a lot when I was starting.

Also there is a slight delay in saving your position and stuff. Always wait a minuet after you have picked up something good before you log off. The amount of delay seems to vary from server to server and also time of day and numbers playing seems to have an effect.

Still can't play DayZ? try this!
Talon2000uk replied to FLMedic Doc's topic in New Player Discussion
Great guide, linked to it on our forums for new players as its a nightmare talking them trough all this. Thanks for saving me from all that stress. -
Sprinting downhill through woods works for me. Use your alt key to look behind you and keep an eye on the chasing zombies, try to break line of site using the pine trees and when they loose interest for a second drop to the ground and crawl away. To avoid them to loot towns keep your eye on the eye and ear icon. stay as far away from them as possible in prone and if they get too close stop moving. unless they wander into you they should just pass by.

is there a mini map add on to day z ?
Talon2000uk replied to theizzman's topic in New Player Discussion
Yeah and there is a DPS meter add on too. Just do a google search, you will find em. -
- I found a map the other day and it worked fine. However when I came back to the game today my marker wasn't present on the map. Is this a bug? Most servers have the player marker turned off as its makes the game too easy. - I've never found a waterbottle yet. Can empty whisky bottles be filled with water? Nope, - Heli-crash sites; there are loads marked on the DayZDB map and I've visited about a dozen of the areas but not seen any crashed heli's yet. They are random - What exactly does "Save (car)" do? Saves the car and all its contents so its there on your next play session on that server Lol congrats new guy, you just raided someones secret stash and nicked his car. Nice work for your first couple of days. :D

I love reading these kinds of stories, shows you the game isn't full of ass holes who are out to SOS. Glad you having fun, your first couple of days echoes my own adventures with friends, stay save and travel with both eyes open. As for the moon, I'm not sure. I know the time in game is tied to the servers local time, not sure if the date is too so if the server date is not set on today's date you will get a different phase of the moon or no moon at all. Or it could be random.

Glad your enjoying it, I'm new here too and having a load of fun. The problem you mentioned appears to be a bug in the latest version with servers having difficulty reading from the play database server and not syncing up properly. Hopefully it will be hot fixed soon but in the mean time treat all your gear as temporary, well you should do that anyway. :D

2 Dayz in and loving it (Some Thoughts From a noob)
Talon2000uk posted a topic in New Player Discussion
Just wanted to say hi and express my admiration for this awesome mod. I've been wanting to play for a while but waited for the BI sale to buy OP Arrowhead so I could get the game to run. So with the price drop I and some mates finally decided to see how we would really fare after the Zombie apocalypse. It took a while to get everything working and configured properly, but thanks to the handy wiki guide and video we managed to get online a couple of days ago. Since then we have had so much fun, we've scavenged, we've survived Zombie hoards, we've escaped Bandit ambushes, we've saved each others live countless times and avenged our friends death when we wouldn't save them. None of it was scripted, no game designer sat and wrote up a design document for our mission, it was all emergent game play. Thrilling, fun and immensely enthralling. Yes we've had bugs, Yes we've lost stuff from our inventory and glitched through buildings, hell at one point I died when logging into the game and then spawned right on top of myself and had to loot my own corpse. :D But none of that matters, we've had a lot of fun and some experiences to rival scenes from The Walking Dead. Possibly I'm looking at this through rose tinted glasses because of the fact that I haven't been killed yet (Officially) and I'm sure I will be pissed when I do and I have to start all over again, but hell that's part of the fun. :D One thing is for certain if the Zombie Apocalypse ever does happen, make sure you have some good mates to watch your back, They are essential . ;)
